Telecom Companies promise that 5G technology will allow us to “have our cake and eat it too.” They have convinced many of our elected officials to create and pass state laws that have eliminated municipal governments’ authority in regard to zoning. Municipal governments can no longer stop 5G small cell towers and infrastructure from being installed:
- In front of homes
- In public rights-of-ways
- In historic districts
- Pretty much everywhere
There are 50+ federal laws still being discussed which will do the same thing if passed. Current Federal Communications Commissioner Chairman, Aji Pai is on board with all of this.
Past FCC Chairman, Tom Wheeler, was also on board with all of this.
Former President, Barack Obama, seemed to be on board with this too.
Current President, Donald Trump, seems to be on board with this also.
So much for Mr. Trump’s campaign promise to “give the country back to the people.”
- 5G cell tower infrastructure will emit wireless (WiFi) radiation 24 hours every day.
- There are many scientists who are saying it’s always a bad idea to install technology that hasn’t been tested for safety.
- Anyone who winds up with these small cell towers in front of their homes and in their neighborhoods will end up with reduced property value.
- 5G will also be used to install more applications of “The Internet of Things” (IoT) which so far has a 75% failure rate.
- Security experts can’t say enough horrible and scary things about IoT.
Do any of these things sound like what’s best for us?
The Dr. Oz segment that aired on February 9, 2018 gave an overview of 5G technology, and featured Americans who are fighting to prevent this infrastructure being installed in their communities. In some communities, it has already been installed and some are fighting to have it removed.
Dr. Oz briefly covers what telecom companies promise us with 5G. One promise is the ability to “Binge-Watch” our favorite programs without the threat of interruption. This in itself begs the question: When did binging on anything become a good thing?
Increased rates of “Digital Addiction” are already being reported by many news sources. 5G promises to enable more of this?
I wasn’t born yet when artificial sweeteners were first introduced to the public. But the promise of great taste with low calories started to appeal to my middle school friends and I as we became more body conscious. There were sexy ads on TV and in magazines with glamorous men and women drinking diet soft drinks. There were fun catchy jingles which we also enjoyed singing:
“Now you see it, now you don’t. Here you have it, here you won’t. Oh Diet Pepsi, one small calorie. Now you see it, now you don’t.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__pOOOpJ58U
We didn’t think about the fact that artificial sweeteners were chemicals that we were now putting inside our young developing bodies. Sexy glamorous and THIN men and women were doing it. Many of the grown-ups around us were doing it to help them get or stay thin. I don’t remember anyone trying to stop us from doing it.
As “tweeners” we also wanted to be thin because “Thin was In” and curvy was not.
We grew up with friends and loved ones who had anorexia and bulimia because they were “dying to be thin.” One of our favorite pop music icons, Karen Carpenter, lost her battle with anorexia in 1983.
In 1992, sexy glamorous and THIN entertainment legend, Cher, started endorsing artificial sweetener “Equal” as a healthier choice than sugar.
I remember when I made the switch back from “Diet” to “Regular” soft drinks. I was in college and one of my dorm buddies drank regular soft drinks. She was less worried about calories than what artificial sweeteners might do to her body. It was one of those “light bulb” moments for me. I also started avoiding food that contained artificial sweeteners.
When I was in my mid-20s, I found myself with a primary care physician who referred to all popular soft drinks as “poison” – especially colas – because of the corn syrup, artificial coloring, and other questionable ingredients. So I cut out colas completely and started really limiting my intake of “clear” soft drinks. Eventually I only bought soft drinks that listed “natural” ingredients.
Over the decades, there’s been much debate as to whether or not artificial sweeteners are safe for consumption. They still haven’t been banned, though. Cher, a longtime advocate for a healthy lifestyle hasn’t endorsed “Equal” for many years now.
Over the decades, there’s also been much debate as to whether or not sources that emit wireless (WiFi) radiation are safe or not. Unlike artificial sweeteners, though, we seem to have no choice on whether or not it’s installed pretty much everywhere – including in front of our homes. This begs a different question:

So, once again, the $64,000,000 question is: if 15,000 to 50,000 µW/m² of RF Microwave radiation exposure is sufficient to cause cardiac problems, neurological and psychological symptoms, altered blood cell counts, increased chromosome aberrations, and elevated cancer in children and adults, then why are US cities allowing 720,000 to 1,230,000 µW/m² of RF Microwave radiation exposure on their sidewalks from 4G/5G so-called ‘Small Cell’ cell phone towers installed in the public rights of way — 15–50 feet from our homes? The promise of faster Internet without the threat of interruption seems like a chance worth taking by telecom companies and elected officials. At the same time, firefighters haven’t wanted cell towers and antennas near their stations for many years now. Most of us have never been as strong or healthy as even the puniest firefighter.
