Electric Bill Skyrockets After Utility Company Installs “Smart” Meter on Senior Citizen’s Home

By B.N. Frank

Ten of millions of 2-way transmitting electric, gas, and water transmitting utility “Smart” Meters have been installed on homes and throughout communities in the U.S. and worldwide, so YOU probably have one.  They are so unpopular (see 1, 2, 3) and problematic and EXPENSIVE (see 1, 2) that many utility companies don’t call them “Smart” anymore.  A documentary was produced about them in 2013 and then updated in 2017 to include MORE problems and complaints.

Most (if not all) of the cost for their installation AND replacement have been and continue to be passed onto customers.  Proponents – including environmental groups (see 1, 2) – promised they would help customers significantly reduce their energy use and lower their bills.  NOT!!! Because they are 2-way transmitting they actually USE MORE ENERGY to operate than original 1-way transmitting meters.  That additional use is at least sometimes being passed on to customers (see 1, 2).  Ridiculously high measurement errors have also been scientifically documented.  Nevertheless, in most cases utility companies continue to lie and say that these meters are more accurate than traditional analog meters.  Another embarrassing incident was reported recently proves otherwise.

From the Atlantic CTV News:

N.S. senior suspects smart meter to blame for shocking $666 power bill

UPPER GULF SHORE, N.S. — A Nova Scotia senior says she couldn’t believe her eyes when she opened her most recent power bill.

Gloria Chu was billed $666 — more than double what she normally pays.

As someone who always pays her bi-monthly Nova Scotia Power bill in full and on time, Chu couldn’t believe it.

According to her bill, her electricity usage almost tripled during the month of May, compared to last year, and is even more than it was last winter.

She insists she and her husband aren’t doing anything differently — but one thing has changed.

“I have had a problem since they put the smart meter in,” said Chu, who lives in Upper Gulf Shore, N.S.

Chu got a big bill right after the meter was installed in January, too. That one was more than $530.

Smart meter problems include fires, explosions, and malfunctioning and breaking appliances are also associated with these meters (see 1, 2. 3. 4).  They also emit  Electromagnetic Radiation (aka “Electrosmog”) which can make people, plants and animals sick (see 1, 2, 3, 4).

Utility companies and their cronies continue to promote them and force their installation because “Smart” Meters collect customer usage data 24/7, whereas original analog meters DO NOT.  Utilities use that data to try to market more products and services to customers and/or sell it to 3rd parties.  This is also referred to as “Surveillance Capitalism”.
