What Is Li-Fi And How Does It Work: Another High Tech Feature For Concern?

By Catherine J. Frompovich

Li-Fi is the acronym for “Light Fidelity.” It’s another wireless communication system running at very high speeds but based in light, not microwaves.

Li-Fi uses LED (light emitting diodes) light bulbs to enable data transfer, another aspect of the surveillance world we live in?  Li-Fi uses up to 224 gigabits per second, in essence using light bulbs as wireless routers.

According to Tech World From IDG

An LED lightbulb is a semi-conductor light source meaning that the constant current of electricity supplied to an LED lightbulb can be dipped and dimmed, up and down at extremely high speeds, without being visible to the human eye.

For example, data is fed into an LED light bulb (with signal processing technology), it then sends data (embedded in its beam) at rapid speeds to the photo-detector (photodiode).

The tiny changes in the rapid dimming of LED bulbs is [sic] then converted by the ‘receiver’ into electrical signal.

The signal is then converted back into a binary data stream that we would recognise as web, video and audio applications that run on internet enables [sic] devices.

There seems to be hopeful predictions Li-Fi can make a huge impact on the Internet of Things (IoT).

Since I was not permitted to download the informative video appearing in the very first segment of this webpage, may I suggest you access that video for an enlightening discussion of how Li-Fi works as told by Christina Mercer, assistant editor at Tech World UK.

  1. Makes me wonder if this can be used as a hacking tool? Thanks for the heads up. Catherine always has something noteworthy.

  2. Ditto. Thanks Catherine for informative piece. My take is that those seeking to enslave us have found another back door to continue the surveillance. It is a never ending obsession with them. Unfortunately they have the resources to do this. It is up to us to seek the truth and keep informed of the progress.

    Hey, I WANT one of them newfangled lie-fie infidel dimbulbs on the BENCH in MY LAB! By the time the research team is done picking the dang thang apart and scoping it all out, I assure you there SHALL be a simple, LOW-tech modification found and DOCUMENTED. One that that STOPS the SPYING – while still keeping the room fully lit(!) {teehee}

    High tech assault? LOW tech defense! Works every time!

    We research. Then we PUBLISH. And that ain’t all. 0{:-|o[

  4. Wow this is very interesting and most of the people are like this technology invention.There are more people are like Li-Fi so more and they like to get it to use.
