The Texas Secession Movement is Rapidly Growing

Texans have long had a reputation for being prideful of their history and independent culture. It’s the kind of nationalistic pride that you would normally associate with people living in a sovereign nation, but it’s always seemed like the vast majority of Texans were perfectly happy to call themselves Americans. That attitude seems to have changed in recent years as the calls for Texas to secede from the United States grow louder.

This year at least 10 GOP county conventions have passed resolutions to either discuss secession or place a secession vote on a ballot. To put that in perspective, only one GOP county passed a resolution on secession in 2012. Paul Simpson, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Harris County, recently told the Houston Chronicle that “It’s cropped up in a major way just in this last year.”

Admittedly these are small numbers, but the trend is undeniable. Last year the Texas Nationalist movement nearly gathered enough signatures to place a non-binding secession vote on the GOP’s Super Tuesday ballot. After the 2012 election, the membership rolls for the Texas Nationalist movement grew by 400%, and 125,000 people signed a WhiteHouse.gov petition on secession.

On top of that, polls seem to show that secession sentiments are growing in Texas. A poll in 2009 found that 18% of Texans would vote to secede, but by 2014 a different poll found that roughly a third of Texans might support a secession movement.

  1. This not surprising being a former slave state. Texas grew due its mlitary and energy expenditures. Peak oil is over, cattle ranching, doesn’t exist like it once did. Also, its no surprise, the vote was taken after Obama’s reelection.

    • Being a former slave state has nothing to do with Texans’ flirtation with secession. Peak oil is over, cattle ranching is hurting due to low prices but Texas economy is still one of the strongest in the Nation. Texans have a genuine independent nature. Our government continues to become more oppressive. So naturally one proposed solution is to consider secession. Texas is large enough to stand alone amongst the other nations of the world. Obviously the majority of Texans are proud to be Americans and consider secession to be a last resort. However, many of us believe we have approached “the last resort”

  2. Any secession movement not based upon Yahweh’s immutable moral law as its foundational law will be just another contemporary instance of man doing that which is right in his own eyes, per Judges 21:25. As such, the seeds of its own destruction will be its own foundation, the same as with the our current Constitution:

“The United States Constitutional Republic was destined to fall from its inception. This is borne out in the following two passages:

‘And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.’ (Matthew 7:26-27)

‘[E]very kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.’ (Matthew 12:25)

“The house known as the Constitutional Republic was not built upon the rock of Yahweh’s1 word, but instead upon Enlightenment and Masonic concepts.2 It began and continues as a divided house….

“The day is therefore approaching when the Republic’s cup of iniquity will be full3 and Yahweh’s longsuffering is exhausted. At that time, the Republic will be subjected to His judgment. Like all nations before her built on sand, she will cease to exist. The question that remains is whether that generation’s Christians will be prepared to build upon her ruins. If not, another ungodly nation will fill the void until finally a future generation of our posterity are prepared to erect a government and society upon Yahweh’s righteousness as expressed in His triune moral law (His commandments, statutes, and judgments).4

“It is therefore incumbent upon this and all intervening generations of Christians to do everything in their power to help prepare for that future generation of Christians to do it right(eous) the next time….”

    • So in your country I would not be free to think as I wish and write about it, put what I want into my body, and live with whom I want?
Your country would fall into a Spanish Inquisition type of madness as you declare war on what people think or believe. Can you provide any proof that Yahweh’ exists as the only god? No you cannot. Just because the Universe was created does not by any stretch of the imagination mean it was by your god. Nor does the fact that we were created (we will agree on this) mean that we were created by a god. Do not be so narcissistic as to believe that a species as jacked up as we are could have only been created by the creator of the universe who never makes a mistake. In Genesis it says Jehovah REPENTED making man. WOW does that sound like he did something he wished he did not do? Sound like mistake? But wait he is perfect and knows everything thus it would be impossible to regret or repent!
Your book you reference was created by an EVIL power hungry Roman Emperor 326 years after Jesus had died with the help of the Council of Nicia where over 80 books were thrown out and burned. It contains many errors and contradictions.
Are you aware that vast civilizations existed before Abraham was even born with morals and ethics, and written laws. Many lasted hundreds of years and some more than that in the far east. They were not based on the Bible. How did they do it?
Only a false god would require faith (believing without proof). A true god that cared about us would be anti-faith. Since he would be the only one omnipresent and all powerful thus the only one capable of providing proof.
Yahweh is not omnipresent. Why does he come and go? He could not leave if he is always ere nor could he come somewhere he is already at. Why did Jesus tell marry not to touch him because he had not returned to his father? I though he and his father were the same and that god was already everywhere. Why would god send a messenger (angel) to tell somebody something if god is already there and can talk to that person? Why does god test people? The need to test shows a lack of knowledge. I do not need to test something that I am absolutely sure of.
Why does god punish entire civilizations for something including infants and innocents when he could make those breaking his laws come down with Decadent Lifestyle Disease and die quickly and those who lived by his law be happier and healthier and have a noticeably longer life as well as success. That would be JUST and provide proof of his existence I would fight shoulder to shoulder with you for your right to conduct your PERSONAL life by whatever religion you chose as long as it does not infringe on my right to have no religion higher than the pursuit of the truth and my life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.. Jehovah (our the group using his name) does exist but he is not a god he is a flesh and blood member of an advanced space fairing race. Try looking at the ancient Sanskrit and Sumerian Texts. They predate Abraham by a long shot and say we were created by people who came from the sky to be their slaves.

      • 1 Corinthians 2:12-14

        2 Peter 3:15-16

        • This is your response? Incredible! I know I will never reach you but this is more for people whom you may be swaying, people who may be inclined to agree with you and are reading this now. Since your thought process is such that you feel those bible verses were applicable to the discussion shows you to be totally out of touch and religion has destroyed you ability to use critical thought. This response will be a long but worth the read to find out how much suffering people with your point of view/ thought process has already caused humanity. I provided ample information and logic was given to establish you do not have any proof your god created us and the universe.
The Women’s Christian Temperest Movement, the beginning of the end! Now these were some people you would have been at home with. Lets outlaw drugs, alcohol, gambling, and prostitution. All do damage society but you can never empower the government to tell someone what the can do with or put in their bodies or do with their property. If you do, this power given to the government will become the biggest danger ever imagined.
Additionally the government screws up and mismanages everything it touches. You want to combine this with a religion which has already been used (by evil men in a twisted manner but used none the less)) to suppress and murder millions and dream its going to be OK.

Your moral/spiritual discipline must remain your sole responsibility. Yu fool can you not see the danger. sreligioYou would empower the government to enforce personal behavior choices mintervene a theology that are so I have personally been involved in the drug war and live in Panama. The damage done to society from the war far out weighs the damage done by someone taking the drug. PrThis is a result of religious zealouts everyday th Religious governmentsthreI have worked in 21 countries and consistently I have found getting rid of the need to be responsible (outlawing substances or activities requiring it) does not make a society or individual more responsible. It actually does the opposite. drugs, alcohol, etc.) takbere are on ow Remember just because we were created in no way proves your god did it or that both .proof was given there is no dobt I respect everybody’s belief system as long as they do not feel a need to integrate it into the government and force me to live by it. You can track the increase in Federal Government involvement in our lives and the initial rise of the police state to the disaster of the Women’s Christian Temperest movement at the turn of the century. e L

  3. I seem to remember something about Texas retaining the right to secede when it joined the Union, but maybe not. But I suppose that would have been superseded when it was conquered and “readmitted” to the Union (even though it never really left). However, it does have the right to divide itself into up to four new states.
