NSA leaker: are there serious cracks in Ed Snowden’s story?

Activist Post

First, I’m not doubting the documents Ed Snowden has brought forward. I’m not doubting the illegal reach of the NSA in spying on Americans and the world.

But as to how this recent revelation happened, and whether Ed Snowden’s history holds up…I have questions.

Could Snowden have been given extraordinary access to classified info as part of a larger scheme? Could he be a) an honest man and yet b) a guy who was set up to do what he’s doing now?

If b) is true, then Snowden fits the bill perfectly. He wants to do what he’s doing. He isn’t lying about that. He means what he says.

Okay. Let’s look at his history as reported by The Guardian.

In 2003, at age 19, without a high school diploma, Snowden enlists in the Army. He begins a training program to join the Special Forces. The sequence here is fuzzy. At what point after enlistment can a new soldier start this training program? Does he need to demonstrate some exceptional ability before Special Forces puts him in that program?

Snowden breaks both legs in a training exercise. He’s discharged from the Army. Is that automatic? How about healing and then resuming Army service? Just asking.

If he was accepted in the Special Forces training program because he had special computer skills, then why discharge him simply because he broke both legs?

Circa 2003 (?), Snowden gets a job as a security guard for an NSA facility at the University of Maryland. He specifically wanted to work for NSA? It was just a generic job opening he found out about?

Also in 2003 (?), Snowden shifts jobs. He’s now in the CIA, in IT. He has no high school diploma. He’s a young computer genius?

In 2007, Snowden is sent to Geneva. He’s only 23 years old. The CIA gives him diplomatic cover there. He’s put in charge of maintaining computer-network security. Major job. Obviously, he has access to a very wide range of classified documents. Sound a little odd? Again, just asking. He’s just a kid. Maybe he has his GED by now. Otherwise, he still doesn’t have a high school diploma.

Snowden says that during this period, in Geneva, one of the incidents that really sours him on the CIA is the “turning of a Swiss banker.” One night, CIA guys get a banker drunk, encourage him to drive home, the banker gets busted, the CIA guys help him out, then with that bond formed, they eventually get the banker to reveal deep banking secrets to the Agency.

Snowden is this naïve? He doesn’t know by now that the CIA does this sort of thing all the time? He’s shocked? He “didn’t sign up for this?”

In 2009, Snowden leaves the CIA. Why? Presumably because he’s disillusioned. It should be noted here that Snowden claimed he could do very heavy damage to the entire US intelligence community in 2008, but decided to wait because he thought Obama, just coming into the presidency, might make good changes.

After two years with the CIA in Geneva, Snowden really had the capability to take down the whole US intelligence network, or a major chunk of it? He had that much access to classified data?

Anyway, in 2009, Snowden leaves the CIA and goes to work for a private defense contractor. Apparently, by this time, he knows all about the phony US war in Iraq, and yet he chooses to work for a sector that relentlessly promotes such wars. Go figure.

This defense contractor (unnamed) assigns him to work at an NSA facility in Japan. Surely, Snowden understands what the NSA is. He knows it’s a key part of the whole military-intelligence network, the network he opposes.

But he takes the job anyway. Perhaps he’s doing it so he can obtain further access to classified data, in advance of blowing a big whistle. Perhaps.

Snowden goes on to work for two private defense contractors, Dell and Booz Allen Hamilton. In this latter job, Snowden is again assigned to work at the NSA.

He’s an outsider, but he claims to have so much sensitive NSA data that he can take down the whole US intelligence network in a single day. Hmm.

These are red flags. They raise questions. Serious ones.

If The Guardian, which has such close access to Snowden, wants to explore these questions, they might come up with some interesting answers.

Again, I’m not doubting that the documents Snowden has brought forward are real. I have to assume they are. I certainly don’t doubt the reach and the power and the criminality of the NSA.

Although I’m sure someone will write me and say I’m defending the NSA. I’M NOT.

But if Snowden was maneuvered, in his career, without his knowing it, to arrive at just this point, then we have a whole new story. We have a story about unknown forces who wanted this exposure to occur.

Who would these forces be? I could make lots of guesses. But they would just be guesses.

Perhaps all the anomalies in the career of Ed Snowden can be explained with sensible answers. I realize that. But until they are, I put the questions forward. And leave them there.

I have to say, based on the timing, they "allowed" Snowden the access and prompted him to come forward later than sooner. Since he was originally art of the network under Bush, then they wanted the scandal to be under whoever came after him. The fact that it came so late can be attributed to the other "scandals" that were in place before this one. Everyone of course blames Obama for it, even though most of it started under Bush (as did quite a few other things)

The corruption you see being revealed is old and built in. I surmise that it is being revealed now to further demoralize americans and to get us to accept that nation-states are inherently evil, and that the only thing that can save us from our out of control leadership is global government.

While i do see that nation-states are running amock, i dont think international super-states will be any more accountable to the people, and in fact think that the key to survival of 'civilized' forms of government is decentralization, and the return to local systems of government, where local issues are decided on a local level, and not done through the controls and auspices of some east-coast DC thinktank.

Sadly, America is being setup to be destroyed and discredited, so that the One World Government can play 'good cop' to our nations 'bad cops', and solidify its grip on international politics. What they don't want us to realize is that the system doesn't have to be scrapped, it just needs a serious 'spring cleaning' to get it working properly again. This would include restoration of the checks and balances on Executive branch power, re-regulation of centralized media ownership (just 6 companies currently dominate the media biz), the imposition of congressional term limits ("when in doubt, vote 'em out!"), the rise of the informed voter (thanks internet!), among many other good ideas that can help to restore some sanity to an otherwise out of control body of government.

I have to wonder if the real intent of these leaks is to get people to cower in fear of the government's expansive surveillance program. You know the surveillance programs aren't for your protection, for the only true terrorists of the world work for Washington D.C. and Tel Aviv, so the intent is suppression of dissent, that of which can not be achieved unless the people KNOW the government is watching, hence the "leaks".

Like the saying goes; "If you got it. Flaunt it." otherwise people won't know you have it. These "leaks" could be the government's clever way of flaunting what they got.

With every new 'scandal' either by accident or by "ACCIDENT" leaked...all these violations of law, oath and human decency are another slap in the face of America Citizens.

Are we being played?
IS the NWO filled with so much arrogance that LEAKS are bound to happen?
Are we in the MATRIX and THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES??

This article is necessary for everyone to question all actions and agendas...nothing is by chance in the NWO...planning is but upon time, resources and secondary, tertiary, etc backup plans...

Just remember how many agendas were exercised on 9/11:
Terrorism (Invasion: "Path to PERSIA" realized!)
Power Seizure (Cheney, Patriot Act, etc.)
MONEY-PROFITS (Stock shorting of airlines)
ASSASSINATIONS
REAL ESTATE Venture (INSURANCE Fraud and Abestos, and RECORD Destruction in WTC 7, etc.)
GOLD MISSING
EVIDENCE TAMPERING (all scrap metal to China)
ETC,
ETC.
ETC.

PLANS within PLANS within a Conspiracy of lies, deception and GREED.....All a SACRIFICE to the Light Bearer (Anther part of the plan with ESOTERIC COORDINATION).

MY POINT BEING... Nothing is left to CHANCE ...and therefore, ALL MUST BE QUESTIONED & Analyzed for its multitudes of dimensions of complexity and PURPOSE!

Good Article...another piece of the PUZZLE...
WE SEE YOU TOO NWO...

I so want to believe that Ed Snowden is telling the truth. I believe that America needs a hero. We want a savior of sorts, a real patriot. He seems to fit the bill, yet, the possibility that he was "set up" is real, the questions are valid. I just hope they are wrong. I really need to believe that there is/are super heroes! The villains we already know and there are too many of them.

Thanks Jon. Nice to see agreement with my intuition, yet the perplexity remains: A set-up for another, more complex false flag event?

I don't know the good reason why he is set up.
In other words I don't see the real advantage why he was set up.
Maybe a possibility is to implement or inject a NSA mole to Triads.
But this assumption is not better because they cannot be so idiots to adopt a stranger who is escaping from NSA without being suspicious,
and the big secret what he revealed is just info about the extensiveness of surveillance of NSA and its conjugate organizations.
And the TRIAD can monitor his activity in China and if he fails then he will die.

The guy seems to be real to me. (now)

Close. This is a test. It pushes the envelope. If it passes without the public protesting much, then the new reality is that those that control government can move on to the next test on expanding their power. If the public does express outrage, then the rulers can back off a little and pretend that that have learned a lesson. Of course, they will take the next opportunity to do the same again. They will not stop. They are patient. Only a truly aware people can stop them. Their power must be taken away or we will be enslaved more and more as time passes.

The fact that this was the Sunday news show feature was a bit unnerving, and what CNN allowed of the interview to be broadcast definitely had my gears turning. These folks don't make mistakes like that. And Snowden himself seemed to have all of the right jargon down pat. What he said and how he said it were exactly the kinds of things being said on the extreme right and left. The fears expressed, the overreach of power, everything sounded just a little too scripted. In other words, he seemed to go into that interview like someone who had been very well coached.

Interesting post. I mean, we know that the economic crisis is created purpously. Many of the worlds protests are directed behind the scenes. And generally we know that behind countries there is an agenda being formed. Behind the bankers. The society is multi layered. Beneath it all , we simply don't know. Occultists, extra terrestrials another human spicies? Some call it the hidden hand. Pulling the strings of those behind the scenes. It has even struck me that they might not even be evil. Who knows? One thing is fore certain. That some leaks are put out on purpose. A part of a bigger plan to shape the world.

Why *now*, seven years later, is the MSM making this a big story We know the MSM carries water for the government. I suspect this is setting the sheeple up for another false flag event.

Great comments by all. It gives me some measure of hope that there are still intelligent and articulate people out there watching the watchers who will speak up. The surveillance has been going on since at least Reagan's first term, probably as far back as Jimmy Carter. I have had the distinct honor of knowing a number of people who worked in Special Forces, Force Recon, Seals etc., and they do not require a degree to join. The recruitment process looks for heart, integrity and honor in these men. A kind of character and street smarts that isn't very common. I've had my own adventures even though my security classification only went as high as "secret". I've flown the F-15, F-16, F4 (C & D models) and the A-7 and I don't even have a pilot's license. It all boils down to usable skills and training those with the proper aptitude. There is far more below the surface here than anyone knows. Yes-- we are being acclimated to a surveillance society. Yes this is all part of a very big, world-wide plan. The irony is, that anyone who stands up to fight against the rising tyranny can easily be pegged as a terrorist. But somehow.... Some way... We have to stop them.

I heard on siriusXM Patriot radio, on the way home, an excerpt of Snowden saying, "I'm just a regular ordinary guy like anyone else, I'm not special." However, his presentation is very succint and flawless, clearly he's not any ordinary Joe-Schmoe. He reminds me of Julian Assange, who, if he really was an outlaw, would have been assassinated by cancer (like Hugo Chavez and Bill Hicks, and perhaps even Steve Jobs)or lone-gunman (like JFK, RFK, MLK, Lennon). I know that sounds totally crazy to 99% of the population, but seriously ANYTHING is possible to the all-powerful elites. Frankly, they are playing god. I'm surprised they haven't just nuked us all. I really don't understand why they are going for the slow kill-off (chemtrails, GMO, food shortages).
One more question: Why is HE the ONLY one to come out about this? Is he a lure to bring out other frustrated whistleblowers? I know that's a weird question. Anything that comes out on Google news is a mass manipulation tool, so this story as top story, when Google has done so much of the government's bidding for years now, makes it suspicious... because everything Google does is suspicious.

leslie, I agree with you we so need a hero on the side of truth, not to worship but to remind us what courage is, seems many of us have forgotten. Was he set-up? Does it really matter? I think the important thing here is it has made a lot of people take notice to just how far our government has drifted from the constitution. And maybe question the governments actions instead of letting them hide behind the term NATIONAL SECURITY and demand real answers.

Leslie said: "I really need to believe that there is/are super heroes!"
I say: No thanks. I for one have no such need. Why would you need a super hero? It's like sitting around waiting for some divine savior or ET rescuer to come and save and rescue us. We don't deserve to be saved or rescued from the mess we've worked thousands of years making for ourselves, and we ain't gonna be either.

"Snowden breaks both legs in a training exercise. He’s discharged from the Army. Is that automatic? How about healing and then resuming Army service? Just asking."

Not necessarily. SOME military training facilities have what's known as a PTRP program. Physical Therapy Program is what it stands for. Not all have them. For some bases it works to help recuperate those soldiers who are able to be saved. The general rule of thumb for this is that if it'll take more than twelve months to get the soldier back to their previous healthy state then they're let go and sent home to heal and then re-enlist when they're ready on their own terms.

It does sound as though he was either groomed for what has happened OR he is just a super smart dude who was trying to see how far up the rabbit hole went before extricating himself from it all as safely as he could. Good luck on that count!

I think that it is also an unfortunately lure for more whistleblowers but you know what? That's the price we have to pay for fighting the good fight. Fear can't hold good people down.

If he's legit then I give him props for have the cahones to move forward with his information leak.

It's an attack on Obama. He's not playing ball with the the terrorist state of Israel's demands that he impose a no fly zone and commit more forces in Syria. This stuff is way too scripted, and his interview on Democracy Now was way too smooth. Rense just did an interview with G. Duff, and W. Tarpley's podcast from Saturday provide some very interesting perspective to this rouge. If we take Snowden's remarks about the Triad's strength and the fact that he's 'hiding out' in Hong Kong, we can see right through his actions, and put shame on Greenwald for playing along. I thought Glenn was better than this.

Snowden is a computer whiz, and like many, he did not complete college (Gates).

This article is full of speculation.....suggesting that Snowden is a patsy in a deliberate leak by the govt...because they want to be exposed as
tyrants and lose cover for their spy efforts?

It doesn't add up. This guy is a Ron Paul libertarian who cares deeply about our guaranteed rights, including privacy.

Speculation without evidence or even logic (why would govt do this?)
can be dismissed without evidence.

Thought provoking article and great comments!

Regarding Snowden's education, could it be that his lack of indoctrination in academia was a factor in his ability to think outside the box? Also, as a natural independent thinker he might have had little interest in our Borg-style dumbing down education system that seeks to further compartmentalize our brains.

I just had a bright idea, I believe :

Why the Sudden Epidemy of Whistleblowers ?

1.We, the people,
if we want to raise against tyranny, we need a majority to stand up and support a global awakening.

2.They, the tyrants,
if they want a final oppression, they need
AS WE DO
people to stand up in order to raise the level of oppression to the point they can justify their move.

3. The main problem
of general apathy of the ‘sheeple’ is the same in both cases.
They cannot crush a civil unrest when there is none !

I like this comment earlier on this blog:

The top PTB are Satanists, and are Karma Dodgers and work to pass their bad Karma unto the sheeple to carry for them, so that they would yet be around another day to perform their dark deeds.

Karmically speaking, they need consent from a fair portion of the population before they can commence with their dastardly deeds. I think this Ed Snowden revelation is to announce and acclimate the sheeple to what they plan and want to do. If there are no strong objections, they have got our permission to go ahead and more.

Yes, the devil understands God laws.

I questioned the validity of this character's story from the first interview. And I'm shocked that Glen Greenwald (of all people) got taken in by it as easily as he apparently did. If you think about it, it becomes very interesting that this new revelation came along just in time to remove the IRS scandal from public view and perhaps recue this rogue agency from suffering serious consequences for unlawful conduct that is clearly outside the rule of law. And to replace this real and easily proven IRS scandal with the NSA scandal which congress and everyone else in Washington says is entirely legal because it is operating under the watchful eyes of congress as well as the judicial branch.

Jon, I like most of what you say and I love your analytical mind and you are wise to question the whistle blower's veracity. Yet there is one part of your inquiry that I am disappointed in and that is your harping upon the lack of a formal certification of the young man's intelligence. You need to explore John Taylor Gatto's writings on education and look at real education processes.

The lack of a high school diploma or GED certification in no way precludes Snowden from having the brains and gifts to be useful in this IT area. Have you never heard of homeschool?

In fact, this is global not only American. If I see what happens is that mainstream media is talking about it but indeed maybe to check their populations'pulses. Revolt? Of course not! But people are warned. Also: powerless. What can they do? And lots of people say:"Well, I have nothing to hide" or "I am not a terrorist" indeed out of powerlessness and stupidity as to what this means and that by their cowardly (and dumb) attitude intel agencies can and will go on. Do not forget. This is global. Not only American. And yes, the comment who spoke of provoking a revolt to put the army on the streets. I agree. But that will need a bigger false flag than this. (9/11, Boston bombing and everything in between and after). Hello Google! Serve me up!
