18 Facts That Prove Piers Morgan Is Flat Out Lying About Gun Control

Piers Morgan is getting on television every night and flat out lying to the American people about gun control.  Nearly every statistic that he quotes is inaccurate and he fails to acknowledge a whole host of statistics that would instantly invalidate the arguments that he is trying to make.

Yes, the UK has a lower gun murder rate than the United States does, but what Piers Morgan fails to tell you is that the overall rate of violent crime in the UK is about 4 times higher than it is in the United States.  A woman in the UK is not allowed pull out a gun to protect herself against a gang of potential rapists.  So perhaps that explains why the UK has about 125 percent more rape victims per 100,000 people than the United States does.

While UK newspapers are declaring that the UK has become the "violent crime capital of Europe", crime rates in the United States have actually fallen dramatically over the past 20 years.  This was also a time period during which gun laws became much less restrictive in the United States. Today, murder rates in the U.S. are generally far higher in cities that have very strict gun control laws (such as Chicago) than they are for the general population.

The cold, hard numbers make it clear that when there are more guns there is less crime, but hardcore leftists such as Piers Morgan are absolutely obsessed with gun control and Morgan continues to relentlessly attack the 2nd Amendment night after night.  We need to start pointing out that he is not telling the truth.

The following are 18 facts that prove that Piers Morgan is flat out lying about gun control...

#1 The UK has approximately 125 percent more rape victims per 100,000 people each year than the United States does.

#2 The UK has approximately 133 percent more assault victims per 100,000 people each year than the United States does.

#3 Piers Morgan continues to insist that there are more than 11,000 gun murders in the United States every year.  But that is flat out wrong.  According to the FBI, there were 8,583 gun murders in the United States during 2011.  And as Ben Swann recently pointed out, 400 of those were justifiable homicides by law enforcement and 260 of those were justifiable homicides by private citizens.

#4 The United States is #1 in the world in gun ownership, and yet it is only 28th in the world in gun murders per 100,000 people.

#5 The violent crime rate in the United States actually fell from 757.7 per 100,000 in 1992 to 386.3 per 100,000 in 2011.  During that same time period, the murder rate fell from 9.3 per 100,000 to 4.7 per 100,000.  This was during an era when gun laws in the United States generally became much less restrictive.

#6 The city of Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States.  So has this reduced crime?  Of course not.  As I wrote about the other day, the murder rate in Chicago was about 17 percent higher in 2012 than it was in 2011, and Chicago is now considered to be "the deadliest global city".  If you can believe it, there were about as many murders in Chicago during 2012 as there was in the entire nation of Japan.

#7 After the city of Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring every home to have a gun, the crime rate dropped by more than 50 percent over the course of the next 23 years.

#8 Approximately 200,000 women in the United States use guns to protect themselves against sexual crime every single year.

#9 Overall, guns in the United States are used 80 times more often to prevent crime than they are to take lives.

#10 Only about 3.5 percent of the gun murders in the United States are caused by rifles.
#11 According to Gallup, an all-time record 74 percent of all Americans are against a total handgun ban in the United States.

#12 Down in Australia, gun murders increased by about 19 percent and armed robberies increased by about 69 percent after a gun ban was instituted.

#13 When Piers Morgan claims that there are only 35 gun murders in the UK per year, he isn't exactly being accurate.  According to official statistics, there were 59 gun murders in the UK in 2011.  It is also important to keep in mind that gun crime was already super low even before the gun ban in the UK was instituted, and that a 2009 article in The Telegraph declared that gun crime had doubled over the past decade even though it is widely acknowledged that crime statistics in the UK are massively underreported.

#14 The UK has the fourth highest burglary rate in the EU.

#15 The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU.

#16 A 2009 article in The Telegraph had this stunning headline: "UK is violent crime capital of Europe".

#17 Despite the very strict ban on guns in the UK, the truth is that the UK is a far more violent society than the United States is.  In one recent year, there were 2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people in the UK.  In the United States, there were only 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people during that same year.  Do we really want to be more like the UK?

#18 According to Gun Owners of America, the governments of the world slaughtered more than 170 million of their own people during the 20th century.  The vast majority of those people had been disarmed by their own governments prior to being slaughtered.

But you won't hear many of these statistics on the mainstream news, will you?

In fact, right now there seems to be some sort of a nationwide backlash against gun advocates.  A few high profile gun advocates have even ended up dead in recent days.

For example, self-described "gun nut" Keith Ratliff, the owner of the ninth most popular channel on YouTube, was found dead at his business on January 3rd...
Keith Ratliff, 32, was a channel producer for FPSRussia firearms channel, an account with more than 3 million subscribers that features videos of a man testing a variety of guns.
Ratliff was found shot in the head at his business on Jan. 3, and while police don't have a motive, they have classified his death as a homicide, reported Wednesday.
Not only that, one of the most prominent rifle manufacturers in America was killed in a "mysterious car crash" on January 4th.  The following is from a recent article by Mike Adams...
John Noveske is one of the most celebrated battle rifle manufacturers in America. His rifles, found at are widely recognized as some of the finest pieces of American-made hardware ever created. (I own one of his rifles, and it's a masterpiece of a machine that just keeps on running.) Sadly, John Noveske was killed in a mysterious car crash just a few days ago, on January 4, 2013.
According to the Outdoor Wire, his car 'traveled across the oncoming lane onto the dirt highway shoulder until it struck two large boulders. The vehicle rolled and Mr. Noveske was ejected.'
But barely a week before this incident, John Noveske posted a lengthy, detailed post on Facebook that listed all the school shootings tied to psychiatric drugs. At the end of the post, he asked, 'What drugs was Adam Peter Lanza on?'
That was the last post he ever made.
So are these two incidents just coincidences, or is some sort of a pattern emerging?

Meanwhile, radical leftists are introducing gun grabbing legislation in legislatures all over the United States.

On the federal level, Barack Obama is developing plans to bypass Congress and use executive orders to implement his gun control agenda.

There seems to be an all-out attempt to bring strict gun control to the United States.  It is going to be very important to get the facts out and show people that reducing the number of guns is not going to make us all safer.

Please share this article with as many people as you can.  Hopefully this list of facts will help to change some minds.

Funny, thought most of us had figured out (years and years ago!) that all TV corporate media swine are doing the work of the globalists/fascists.

Yet here goes this site paying huge attention to a fake fight between two fake idiots, fake AJ vs. fake Piers. Fake, like pro wrestling. And here is this supposedly open truth oriented site playing right along. Disgusting divide and rule tactics identical to what we see on TV, on display here. Shameful.

That link is bogus, it goes to some video at Alex Jones (shill paid to self destruct and hurt the pro gun movement) site.

Can you people not get anything right? What 28 countries have higher per capita gun death rates than the USA? It would be nice to back up your assertions with credible factual links....otherwise you look like clowns making stuff up. Just sayin.......

The link to claim #12 is also no good. Just goes to a bunch of videos making claims like the ones in this article.

Hint, citations impress people when they use FACTS. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is the best US source. Wikipedia is pretty good for international numbers and each nation keeps their own stats at official government sites. A bunch of gun lovers linking to each others claims is NOT going to convince anyone of anything....other than the fact that you guys play fast and loose with the truth.

Last year, the US had about 9,000 gun homicides while the UK had about 35.

Violent crimes rates in the UK are higher not because there are more violent crimes (contrast 9K murders to 35, for starters, murder being the gold standard of a violent crime) but because crimes are
documented differently in the UK. If you report an incident, a rape, someone shoves you, etc. it is recorded as a violent crime, based on the report, without any establishment that a crime has actually been committed. In the US, a report of a rape or a physical abuse is not reported as a crime unless it is investigated and established as a violent crime. The pro-gun lobby uses this apples to oranges fallacy to argue that a nation with with over 90% fewer gun homicides per capita
than the US is actually a more violent nation.

That is a laughable claim, and it is always rationalized by comparing statistics which are based on totally different standards. If you call the police in the US and report that someone shoved you, they will say: so, what do you want us to do and laugh. In the UK, it will be documented as a "violent crime."

Here are the facts:

in homes with guns, according to a Harvard review of the academic peer-reviewed research on gun violence, there is a 270% greater chance of someone in the home being killed by a gun.

The majority of gun homicides happen between people who know each other, which means friends and family. (53%, according to the FBI).

Some nations have 99% fewer gun murders (and 90% fewer overall murders) than the US. Japan, for example, had 2 gun murders in 2006, averages about 10 (with a population of 128 million).

Of all 1st world nations, the average gun homicide rate is 90% less per capita than in the US. The common demonominator is strict gun laws, strictly enforced. None totally ban firearms, but all have rigorous enforcement of their comprehensive, national laws. (Local guns laws are ineffective, as people just go to the next town or state or buy privately, online, or at gun shows where in most states, no background checks are required).

Dale, pt 2

States in the US with the highest rates of gun ownership have, over the past decade, 40% more gun homicides per capita than states with lower gun ownership rates. (FBI data).

All these facts can be confirmed at the FBI website, and by checking the documented sources at Wikipedia/homicide, Nationmaster/crime, and

All the evidence (all!) shows indisputable and overwhelming proof that more guns means more murders (and suicides: states with more guns have twice the suicide rate by gun as states with fewer guns, with non-gun sucides about even: Harvard Public Health Insitute review of 12 controlled studies),

Even in nations with many guns, like Germany and Switzerland, which also have strict gun laws, the
rate of gun homicide is 90% less per capita than the USA. The one common factor is low gun murders (and overall murders) is strict gun laws, strictly enforced.

No amount of spin or comparing oranges (reported crimes, including minor physical force) and apples (documented and established violent crimes) can refute these facts.

If more guns meant a safer society, the US would be not them most dangerous by a factor of 9 of the 35 advanced 1st world nations, but the safest. You can ignore the facts, but in the end, they will hunt you down and you will pay the price for your arrogant and willful denial.

If you value your children, get rid of your guns: you are tripling, on average, the chances that one of your family members will be killed. Last year in the US, more children died from gun accidents (not to mention murders or suicides) than have died in Japan in the past decade.

Which is more important: your devotion to the myths of gun ownership or your childrens' lives.

If you were told that the car you are considering buying is 300% more likely to get you killed (as in homes with guns) or 90% more likely to get you killed (as in advanced nations with strict gun laws), would you ignore the facts? Would yo buy the car because you have the "right" to do so?

...when did news journalists become political activists anyways...sheesh...

Karl Marx wrote on the Civil War (he opposed slavery, duh) for a New York newspaper;
George Orwell is the most famous 20th Century journalist/activist (he was a lifelong socialist).

Journalistic integrity and activism are not contradictory; they are mutually re-enforcing: the more you know, the more you are motivated to work for change. Sadly, Activistpost publishes mostly hacks and propagandists.

Guns don't kill people, the CIA does.

Maybe go back and look at the original source of most of these "facts". He's using an outdated set of data for most them. The homicide rate alone is from a 2002 article.

Wise up America.

I am 100% fine with a gun ban. Let's just do it the way it will work -- a 100% ban for everyone, especially the military, police and all government agents.

Until then, why should anyone trust the state with weapons when it has proven itself throughout history to be the greatest perpetrator by orders of magnitude of violent crimes against humanity?

As a pacifist, I have no moral-ethical reason to own or possess a firearm. Although I realize this makes me far more vulnerable to those with weapons, especially since I am unable to defend myself -- and I am morally willing to accept those consequences -- I certainly support those individual folks who feel otherwise and choose to provide armed protection for themselves and family should they be forced to do so.

Based on the premise that because many factors are involved in crime, then gun ownership may or may not lower it. In that case, look at gun-related incidences only and compared across countries with the same income levels:

I will bring my gun to a gun fight. I'm a US citizen, I have a right to own a gun, and while I still have that right I will defend it. According to your diatribe, I would be insane to reliquish my right to bear arms!

You are allowed to defend yourself with a firearm but the who can,and under what conditions, and lastly the type of weapons you employ are left up to governments to decideThe days of implicit Rights has been replaced by asked for and granted permissions of priveledge.
This granting of priveleges may work great for getting favors from boss at work but on national political scene is going to be disaterous for 2/3rds of american populace.
Guns are no more than a side issue and if they defang the holders the bolder the masters will be.

Statistics are pesky things; they trump emotionalism every time. So when statistics show that England has more violent crime than the U.S., the gun-control shill Dale, who stalks this site, claims it is the way statistics are collected that make the difference. He also ignores that violent crime in the U.S. is concentrated in certain high density urban enclaves.
He then repeats the assertion that ‘a gun kept in the home is more likely to be used against a family member’. The claim originates from the totally discredited ‘Kellerman Study’. Rather than sample a cross section of households where a gun is kept, Kellerman only studied homes in which a shooting took place. The typical ‘home’ in his study had numerous unrelated members and high drug and gang involvement. Hardly your typical gun owner family.
He dismisses the low crime rate in Switzerland, despite universal gun ownership, as due to ‘strict laws regarding their usage’. Here’s the truth: sociological and cultural differences are the deciding factor not laws.

Statisticians are pesky liars.
Some stats show you are problem, just look for other stats.

Gun MURDERS way way way lower in Canada, Europe and Australia than the USA. No problem, gun salesmen have their statisticians look to other stats. Like overall crime in select countries.

Gun SUICIDES way way way higher in the USA than in Europe, Australia and Canada. No problem, start comparing murder rates between Japan and Korea. Just keep changing the goal posts and ignoring the obvious fact that more guns equals more murder more suicides, more accidents and more shootings. Closet racist pigs who want to blame black people are sadly very reflective of many gun nuts.

lol.. suicides.. People who want to kill themselves? Wouldnt more be better.. fredome is the right to choose.. if they choose death.. then so be it. Perhaps you want to lock them up in a padded room for the rest of their life on someone elses dollar.

Great job reporting the facts conveniently ignored by the ruling thus and their lackeys the media.
This is why you should forget trying to use the second amendment as your 'permission slip' to own a gun:

The “progressive” politician, a cancer on Liberty

This is the kind of politician that appoints extreme “progressive” judges responsible for 56% of Violent Crime from Chronic repeat offenders, releasing them back on the public to commit more violent crime. There are not Citizen Review boards for unaccountable Judges and Psychiatrists unlike Police.

This is the kind of Politician that takes money from big pharmaceutical companies, while their unaccountable psychiatrists prescribe Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Effexor, Celexa, Ritalin and many other antidepressants and psychotropic drugs to almost every single teen or adult involved in a mass shooting, with absolute zero oversight on what those teens are around, while under the influence, IE; weapons of all kinds, cars, other mixed drugs or alcohol, machinery, etc. They hide accountability with Dr. /Patient confidentiality, so they do not have to report the mental state to the FBI to be able to actually stop the mental patients from getting hold of weapons they should not be in possession of.

This is the kind of politician that enjoys armed security around them in public, in their private schools, places of work and places where their money is kept safely, but like the Cesare Borgia rulers of Europe  breaking Federal laws; while you law abiding should be limited, even after background checks and hundreds of hours of training, in their opinion.

This is the kind of politician, turning local police into standing armies, which is what the Bill of Rights and Constitution was made to defend against, at the same time supposed to be protecting individuals the right to keep and bear arms, with the Second amendment the only amendment in the constitution with the words, "shall not be infringed." Hamilton & Madison specifically created the Bill of Rights, to protect against the abuse of power by the Executive and Legislative branches. FBI are not standing Armies yet they use “military” style weapons, The National Forest Service has AR-15 like assault weapons, Treasury Department, The law enforcement group of the DOE have them, The BLM, the ATF, the Secretary of state issues permission to non-citizens for full automatic weapons while traveling inside U.S. under the diplomatic title, U.S. Marshal service have “assault” weapons, State and local law enforcement. These groups have no special rights under the Constitution for “military” style weapons, yet they carry them, while not being a standing army. Why is their safety put above the safety of those of the average citizens, that face criminals and gangs armed as well as any military with small arms?

This is the kind of politician is creating “gun free” zones, where 99% of these mass shootings occur. They never answer any of the serious questions about their own failures to secure the public from criminals and mental patients their appointed judge’s release. They never answer how killing Liberty for the law abiding stops the mentally deranged drug cartels and sorted violent chronic criminals will give up their illegal “assault” weapons or high capacity magazines. They never answer the question why so many agencies have become standing armies, completely contrary to the U.S. Constitution. If you think they are justified to carry “military style” guns and not the average law abiding citizen, then you all need to open the Federalist papers and Constitution and read them.

This is the kind of politician using skewed statistics that lump in law abiding Concealed firearms holders that have FBI background checks hundreds of hours of training in with drug related crime, gangs, at risk homes, bail bonds agents, and those that break gun laws or laws in general.

When is the electorate going to hold the “progressive” Politician opportunists, Judges, Lawyers and Psychiatrists accountable for the blood on their hands?
