McDonald’s Forced to Stop Using Ammonia-Tainted ‘Pink Slime’ in Meat

Activist Post

McDonald’s has recently caved to consumer demands to cease the utilization of ‘pink slime’ scrap meat covered with ammonium hydroxide in their hamburgers and chicken sandwiches.

The announcement highlights the fact that there are many health-crushing additives within the McDonald’s menu, and the reason that their hamburgers absolutely wreak havoc on your body actually has little to do with their high calorie and fat content. In fact, McDonald’s absolutely loves when health professionals neglect to mention the toxic ingredients hidden in their food.

The change was mostly made possible by Jamie Oliver, a celebrity chef who has recently gone on a campaign against the fast food giant.

After heavily publicizing the fact that McDonald’s was using the ‘pink slime’ treated with ammonium hydroxide, food activists began to take action.

However, the change does not mean that McDonald’s food choices are much better for you — in fact, they are still very damaging to your health. Oliver himself explains:
'Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold at the cheapest form for dogs and after this process we can give it to humans,' said the TV chef.

A History of McDonald’s Additives

This is not the only known additive in McDonald’s food items that has sparked controversy. It was previously revealed that McDonald’s McNuggets contain a similarly-disturbing ingredient, helping to establish the reputation of worst food item on the planet. You would think that the ingredients for chicken nuggets would consist of bread and chicken, perhaps a bit of seasoning for flavor.

In contrast, McNuggets contain 7 different ingredients, many of which contain sub-ingredients. Among these include substances that make up the ‘meat’ of the McNuggets. Instead of using real meat, the ingredient list calls for sodium phosphate, safflower oil, wheat starch, dextrose, and a particularly dangerous substance known as autolyzed yeast extract. Autolyzed yeast extract is similar to MSG, an artificial flavor enhancer that has been linked to obesity and other health conditions.

What’s more, McNuggets contain a whole other list of threatening ingredients like dimethylpolysiloxane -- a type of silicone used in breast implants and silly putty.

Dimethylpolysiloxane is used as an anti-foaming agent in the nuggets.

It is quite clear that even while ignoring the pink slime scrap meat from McDonald’s food items, these synthetic meal items are still a very real threat to your overall wellness. You can view Oliver’s video discussing the pink slime below:

AWESOME! Thank you Jamie for telling the truth about where most of our horrible conventional food comes from! People have no clue that this is how processed foods are made.

I've always wondered how corporations like McD's can make food that tastes so f'ing, awfully bad. It's because it's not really food. Now what I still can't understand, why does anyone eat this crap? Are my tastes buds different? Do they not have taste buds? Do I have an overly sensitive stomach? Do they have cast iron stomachs? I truly don't get it.

People who eat at that dump deserve no sympathy. They're brain-dead blockheads.

And, just for one other example, go to KFC's web site and check out their ingredients list. It'll make your hair stand on end.

There has to be a measure of sympathy for the people that cant afford anything better. To write here about how great you are because you dont eat McDonald's and pat yourself on the back may be good for your ego (Which probably needs the boost since your writing out of anger) but it does no good for anyone else. Congratulations on not eating crappy, now lets HELP people eat right and teach the country that these corporations are trying to poison them. We can get back to your frail ego later. :)

Did you notice you have an advertisement for McDonald's right next to the article. Too funny. I am so glad they are finally doing away with that pink stuff. Now if we can just get rid of all the pesticides and GMO foods.

Can't afford better? That's crap. Period , for the cost of one , one value meal there, you can cook enough to feed a family quality food. Period

People are not educated about fast foods because they are stilled called food. When we provide electricity for your home, it is what it is, not pink slime electricity. That is disgusting, why is it allowed to be sold at all?

Nutrition, education and health should be a bigger part of our youth. When we buy products we expect to be represented.

It is further disgusting that pink slime is making anyone millions in profits, are there health costs with pink slime?

What about PARENTS taking their kids to McDonald's.....???

Plus - the softdrinks! No wonder kids have health issues today that have never been seen before at an early age.
