Kennedy’s Plan To Restore America’s Health

By Neenah Payne

How The Kennedy Health Legacy Continues Now shows that President John Kennedy inspired Americans to become healthier from the first day of his administration. At 70 years old, Robert Kennedy Jr. embodies fitness, continuing the Kennedy legacy. He is an inspiration for other Americans to shape up – just as his uncle John Kennedy was as President in the 1960s. He continues with a rigorous exercise routing, surfing and skiing.

Kennedy is the ultimate outdoorsman. He says he learned white-water rafting when he was a teenager. He hikes uphill with his dogs every morning he is at home. He follows that by going to the gym where he does a very hard work out for 30 minutes. See Kennedy’s description of running Class V rapids in Chile in 2006: In Remote Chile, a Paradise Carved by White Water.

Dr. Jeffrey Bland: Founder of Functional Medicine

A video further below shows that Kennedy spoke with Dr. Mark Hyman about ways to restore America’s health. Dr. Hyman is Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Functional Medicine. In the video Dr. Mark Hyman: The Future of Medicine, Dr. Hyman explains how his life and health were transformed when he met Dr. Jeffrey Bland, the father of Functional Medicine in 1996.

In A Leap Forward in Medicine – Functional Forum March 2016, Dr. Bland explains the origins of Functional Medicine and its goals.

The Disease Delusion: Conquering the Causes of Chronic Illness for a Healthier, Longer, and Happier Life by Dr. Bland explains the transition from 20th century Allopathic Medicine to 21st century Functional Medicine.

Dr. Bland, a biochemist, earned dual degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, and completed his PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Oregon.  He is a Fellow of both the American College of Nutrition where he is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and the Association for Clinical Biochemistry. Dr. Bland is a former professor of biochemistry at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, and served as Director of Nutritional Research at the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine in the early 1980s, working directly with two-time Nobel Laureate Dr. Linus Pauling whom he considers his lifelong mentor.

In the video Dr. Jeffrey Bland: The Father of Functional Medicine, Dr. Bland says, “We’re in a time of revolution, this transition into the 21st century with biomedicine and our understanding of the origin of health and disease is truly epicly changing.”

Audio Interview: The Disease Delusion with Dr. Jeffrey Bland

In his article The Disease Delusion: Conquering the Causes of Chronic Illness for a Healthier, Longer and Happier Life, Dr. Bland says:

Although it may seem comforting to receive a diagnosis from a specialist —that is only a starting point for understanding the shared mechanisms that underlie that manifestation of illness. In Functional Medicine, such a diagnosis is but the first step toward finding out how to manage the condition effectively. Solving a health problem comes not from naming it but from understanding the physiological disturbances that have resulted in the changed function we refer to as disease.

Functional Medicine takes a systems approach to the body — why, because the body contains a network of organ systems — immune, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, etc. — but here the important word is network; all these systems are linked. An event in one system can affect something else in another system.

Why Dr. Mark Hyman Switched To Functional Medicine

Dr. Mark Hyman is a practicing family physician and director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine.  He is a 15-time New York Times bestselling author, and an internationally recognized leader, speaker, educator, and advocate in his field. He is the Head of Strategy and Innovation at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine. He is also the founder and medical director of The UltraWellness Center, chairman of the board of the Institute for Functional Medicine, a medical editor of The Huffington Post, and was a regular medical contributor on many television shows including CBS This Morning, Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, The View, Katie and The Dr. Oz Show.

See the video of his story.

Dr. Hyman works with individuals and organizations, as well as policy makers and influencers. He has testified before both the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine and the Senate Working Group on Health Care Reform on Functional Medicine. He has consulted with the Surgeon General on diabetes prevention, and participated in the 2009 White House Forum on Prevention and Wellness.

Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa nominated Dr. Hyman for the President’s Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health. In addition, Dr. Hyman has worked with President Clinton, presenting at the Clinton Foundation’s Health Matters, Achieving Wellness in Every Generation conference and the Clinton Global Initiative. He is the winner of the Linus Pauling Award, The Nantucket Project Award, and was inducted in the Books for Better Life Hall of Fame, and the Christian Book of the Year Award for The Daniel Plan.

Dr. Mark Hyman: How Functional Medicine Helps Us Take Back Our Energy, Focus & Lives

In the 2016 video Dr. Mark Hyman and Functional Medicine, Dr. Hyman says he switched to Functional Medicine when he suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which conventional MDs did not resolve because they just prescribed drugs to suppress the symptoms. With Functional Medicine, he discovered that the CAUSE of the problem was mercury poisoning and intestinal infection. He was then able to treat those issues and fully restore his health.

In the video Dr. Mark Hyman and Functional Medicine Part II, Dr. Hyman shows how easily he was able to restore a very sick kid’s health by “removing the bad stuff (toxins) and putting in the good stuff (nutrients)”. Functional Medicine says there are two primary causes of all chronic illnesses:

  1. Excess Toxicity:Too much bad stuff
  2. Insufficient Nutrients: Too little good stuff.

Kennedy’s Talk With Dr. Mark Hyman

Hippocrates said, “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food”.

In the interview below with Dr. Hyman, Kennedy discusses his plans to restore America’s health.

The #1 Cause Of Obesity, Diabetes & Illness Nobody Talks About | Robert Kennedy Jr & Mark Hyman

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is an independent candidate for President of the United States. He is the founder of the Waterkeeper Alliance—the world’s largest clean water advocacy group—and served as its longtime chairman and attorney. He founded the Children’s Health Defense, where he served as chairman and chief litigation counsel in its campaign to address childhood chronic disease and toxic exposures. He was also on the team that prosecuted and won the case against Monsanto for glyphosate’s role in causing cancer.

As President, he promises to restore the middle class, unravel corporate capture, end the chronic disease epidemic, improve the quality of the water we drink and the air we breathe, heal the divide, fix our public education system, take care of our veterans, support the trades, make homes affordable again, support regenerative farming, among other key priorities.

Healing Farms Based on Italian Model

Oliver Anthony: Rich Men North of Richmond explains that Oliver Anthony’s song “Rich Men North of Richmond” made its debut on August 8.  The song, posted to Anthony’s X profile (formerly Twitter) on August 10 became an immediate hit among conservatives and attracted nearly 30,000 reposts and 140,000 likes. By August 17, the song had gotten over 18 million views on YouTube!  Before August 8, few people had heard of Oliver Anthony and suddenly he had the #1 song in America, top of the charts in the country, which is also listened to around the world!

RFK Jr’s Collaboration With Oliver Anthony shows that while many people were discussing Anthony’s message, Kennedy responded to his plaintive cry to help America heal now. Kennedy’s plan is designed to address the concerns raised by Anthony in what is being called by some “the anthem for this moment in history.

In the video with Dr. Hyman, Kennedy discusses his plan to launch wellness centers in rural communities instead of prisons. RFK Jr’s Collaboration With Oliver Anthony shows that the two met to discuss the use of part of his 92-acre farm in Virginia as a wellness center.

RFK Jr. says Anthony is partnering with him now on this initiative. Both Kennedy and Anthony are very open about being recovering addicts. Dr. Mark Hyman points out to Kennedy that the health crisis in America is now a national emergency that must be addressed urgently on multiple fronts.

San Patrignano Model

Kennedy said the idea is modeled on San Patrignano centers in Italy (shown below) which Kennedy has visited many times. The 5-year program is free and people have the opportunity to learn various trades through apprenticeship. They eat only organic foods which they raise.
