Proposed Federal Law Would Significantly Increase Harmful Radiation Levels in National Parks Affecting Wildlife, Environment

By B.N. Frank

Decades of research have already proven that Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) – including wireless “Wi-Fi” radiation and 5G – is biologically and environmentally harmful.  In fact, almost 2 years ago, a federal court ruled in favor of petitioners who sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for NOT updating wireless radiation guidelines since 1996 despite scientific evidence of harm.  Despite the ruling, the agency has still not addressed this and cell towers of all sizes, antennas, Wi-Fi “hotspots,” utility “smart” meters and grids, and other wireless radiation-emitting sources continue to be deployed throughout the U.S. and in space (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).  If passed, proposed laws HR 3557, The American Broadband Deployment Act of 2023 and others will make an already bad situation worse.

Op-ed in The Hill on Danger of New Proposed Federal Law To Increase Wireless Networks in National Parks

Dr. Devra Davis President of Environmental Health Trust published an op-ed in The Hill entitled “We cannot ignore the dangers of radiation in our national parks”  on the harmful impact of wireless proliferation in National Parks if a newly proposed federal bill – The Connect Our Parks Act – passes. The Hill is well read in the Washington DC covering the latest political news.

Dr. Davis states in the oped:

“The Parks Act is one of several congressional proposals that unwittingly set the stage for dramatically increasing ambient exposures to wireless radiation, an agent that the government’s own studies have found causes cancer and DNA damage in animals. Unsurprisingly, the natural environment is also vulnerable. Studies have documented adverse impacts on birds, bees and trees, including impairment of massive seasonal migrations and the exquisitely sensitive processes of reproduction on which their continuity rests.

A shocking regulatory gap exists. Not one federal agency has a mandate to assess the harmful effects of wireless radiation from cell towers, nor is any monitoring regularly conducted of the levels of wireless radiation in our environment from the several hundred thousand operating towers in the U.S.”

The Connect The Parks Act is only one of the numerous bills moving through U.S. Congress which will allow the proliferation of wireless in natural ecologically sensitive areas.
