U.S. Senate Betrays Constitution, Fails To Stop Perpetual War Policy

By Aaron Kesel

The U.S. Senate voted 61-36 to kill an amendment proposed by Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) which would repeal the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMF) in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The two bills have heavy scrutiny; the 2001 AUMF was approved in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, while the 2002 AUMF authorized the Iraq War.

Senators opposed the amendment stating that “It would mean that we would immediately need to start winding down” U.S. forces abroad, said Senator Bob Corker (R-Tennessee), who opposed Paul’s amendment.

The Senate can’t repeal the AUMF without replacing it with a new authorization, said war porn posterboy and head of the Congressional Armed Service Committee (SASC) Senator John McCain (R-Arizona).

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Paul’s move would “leave nothing but uncertainty” for the military and be “simply irresponsible.”

Paul previously threatened to delay the passage of the $700-billion dollar National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) if his amendment to repeal AUMF he sought to add to the NDAA bill didn’t pass.

“We have been there for 16 years. It is time for the wars to end. It is time for Congress to vote on whether or not they should end,” Paul said on Monday.

While the repeal has had strong opposition supporters of the bill included Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Mike Lee(R-Utah) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.).

“It’s been 16 yrs since Congress passed the existing AUMF after 9/11, but yr after yr, Congress refuses to re-examine this outdated policy. It’s long past time for Congress to do right by our troops & the American people,” Warren said on Twitter, announcing her support.

Earlier this year Paul spoke out during a congressional hearing on adding Montenegro to NATO proclaiming “they want to rubber stamp, they want no debates, and they want to send your kids to war with no debate,” when speaking about his fellow constituents.

He added, “Congress voted after 911 to go to war they voted to go after the people who planned and plotted the attacks on the Trade Center. That vote from 15 years ago is used to justify all war everywhere on the planet there has been no meaningful debate about the wars we are currently involved in, in the Middle East. We currently fight illegally and unconstitutionally in the Middle East because your representatives are afraid to have a public debate.”

Paul then took to Twitter to put out the most important pieces of his speech tweeting, “For decades NATO has been an organization where the U.S. disproportionately spends our blood and our treasure,” adding “Nobody wanted to have this debate. They want to rubber stamp. They want no debates and they want to send your kids to war.”

  1. I Value our Military Highly, except for most of the leadership, that being SAID we should only put our troops in harms way when it is in defense of the USA, not due to Corporate profits and the military industrial Complex. the US administration of ocriminal and hitlery created isis because they at the behest of the Globalists wanted to have Qatar Natural gas pipelined through SYRIA (who did not want it) to feed Europe to compete against the Russian Natural gas that is currently feeding most of Europe. THAT IS not in the Defense of THE USA, that is criminal and all about greed. Corruption at the highest levels and charges of violating the oath of office, treason should be heard against the whole lot of conspirators.

  2. Was anyone surprised by this vote? It doesn’t matter which party controls Congress, or which puppet occupies the White House. The end result will be the same- perpetual war and higher debt to pay for it. This will continue until we pick a fight with the wrong nuclear-armed country or the dollar is inflated down to the value of toilet paper.

  3. Randa Paul is right…..so, I suggest about 10 Million Americans go to Afghanistan and create a Little America over there…. We need to Colonize Afghanistan…. Then go Colonize IRAQ….. Move the Locals out of their country like we did to the American Indians…. After we have the area, we can start taking the oil…and gem stones….and all the other Natural Resources that will make us rich…. we are certainly stronger and better armed then they are…. We don’t need US backing…. We can wash up on shore in boats and take over… just like immigrants are doing here…. WE don’t have to stay forever…. just long enough to rape their land of everything they have…

  4. American Peppers can take Afghanistan…. move them Afghanis out…. all of them… Hell, send the Bloods and the Crips to Afghan… Let them Colonize Afghan….

  5. No chance of passage. Horse and pony show continues…

  6. Constitution, whats that ????

  7. We need a resolution requiring the publication of independent vote totals showing what the vote would have been if the only members participating were the originally elected people, unaffiliated with CIA/FBI/DOD or any other Spook organization involved in replacing citizens with imposters.

  8. fire all those opposed to ending endless war. better yet send them into their endless wars as they need first hand experience.

  9. The US Government was the perpetrator of 911.

  10. The Senate isn’t even needed. President Bush ordered them in and President Trump can order them out. The betrayal is in the White House.

  11. Kabuki theater at its finest. The Senate and Congress are apparently and have been redundant since the morning of 9/11/2001 when Dick Cheney from the bunker below the White House declared Continuity of Government Act legislation (COG) to be in effect. President Bush was supposedly out of contact for two hours that morning so Cheney acted as per chain of command. This secretive legislation when enacted under national emergency suspends the American constitution in whole or part. Congress has on several occasions tried to find out from the executive branch to no avail if the constitution was in effect or which parts if any were in suspension. They have never received an answer as far as I am aware of. This emergency and COG legislation has been renewed every time the sunset provision approaches by the executive branches of the Bush, Obama and now possibly the Trump regimes. During a declared national emergency of this supposed magnitude the President becomes the supreme deciding power via executive orders in how the nation is run with already passed multitudes of legislation to this effect at his/her disposal. The appearance of a constitution may in fact be just more theater for the masses as the government plays lip service to a constitution when they feel like it to keep the illusion alive and the populous pacified. Ask your representatives, or perhaps better Tulsi Gabbard, if COG legislation is still being renewed by the Trump administration before sunset as it has been since 9/11/2001 and if you get the brush off from your rep then call him or her on it. The brush off is for when they don’t want to give a definitive answer. Suspect a lie if the brush off comes first and a denial of COG legislation being in effect is their second response.

So for the Senate to be in variance with the constitution we would first have to know whether or not there is a whole or even a partial constitution, and which parts, are in effect. With the enactment of a constitution free zone extending 100 miles inward from the American national boundaries and many other abrogations my suspicion is that the constitution is now, under COG legislation being in effect, a dead letter law. How can it be otherwise?

  12. Thanks to Rand Paul for his Constitutional Courage; fortitude. Big War Contractors Industrial Machine run US Agenda. It is about money, power, control, Shadow Government, OWO, NWO, how perpetual war Warmonger McCain, Gang of 8 are funded, retain elected seats in Government; PC-Public Culpability. You get what you vote for, ignore, accept; perpetuate. Make America Great; God Bless America and Rand Paul.

  13. “CHINA MAKES THE BIG MOVE OF THE CENTURY”
    http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?noframes;read=83560
Anyone thinking America can continue to finance a contrived, insolvent empire upon the bankrupted petro/dollar, ancient energy scam, is not only forgetting basic economics, but is denying physics. China is going to give the imbeciles at the Federal Reserve Bank a hard lesson in the application of Newton’s 3rd Law on the reckless U.S. “action” by providing a vivid demonstration of their own, “equal and opposite action.”

  14. It is written, “the way of peace, they know not”. You have WAR MONGERS up there. It’s good business, it’s about power and control, it’s about sending your sons and daughters (now) as SACRIFICE to the fire of MOLECH.

Psychopaths and pagans RULE YOU. Look, one in the wings is waiting for her turn in 2020. She cannot wait to sacrifice you ALL to the fire of Molech. Hillaryous…..

  15. Is anything new?
Governments still consider the Constitution for the United States of America to be lower than toilet paper.
