The fact that they would attack a well-known journalist speaks volumes. This should only strengthen people’s resolve and prove to those who remain on the sidelines that there is no more time to stand idly by. This system of oppression is behaving as it was designed to behave. We need to overwhelm them with increasing numbers and convince them that that our resistance is diverse, peaceful, firm . . . and growing.

This video opens with a statement by featured artist at Activist Post, Anthony Freda, and includes an appearance by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul, and Mary, as well as many other brave Americans searching for truth, justice, and the American way. It is notable that those featured here are focusing on the importance of the right to peaceably assemble, as well as to elevate human consciousness — two noble goals that are often ignored. In spite of attempts by various mainstream factions to co-opt this movement, the diversity of ideas, political views, and solutions might be the best protection against an attempted centralization. This movement is history-making regardless of whether it is directed toward Wall Street, Bank of America, ending the Fed, advocating social justice, or one of the countless other causes which should compel someone to become active in the quest for liberty. (P.S. toward the end of the video a mobile guard tower is on site — so much for strictly border control operations).

A report has been making the rounds that the military is getting involved on the side of protesters in the Occupy Wall Street movement. The activities at Occupy Wall Street seem to have risen to a new level. The New York Times is reporting that around 400 people have been detained in a mass arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge after an estimated 1,500 protesters supposedly blocked traffic. Among the protesters were media and organizers. However, many assert that the arrest was a deliberate trap:
‘The cops watched and did nothing, indeed, seemed to guide us on to the roadway,’ said Jesse A. Myerson, a media coordinator for Occupy Wall Street who was in the march but was not arrested…
…Etan Ben-Ami, 56, a psychotherapist from Brooklyn who was up on the walkway, said that the police seemed to make a conscious decision to allow the protesters to claim the road. ‘They weren’t pushed back,” he said. “It seemed that they moved at the same time.’
Mr. Ben-Ami said he left the walkway and joined the crowd on the road. ‘It seemed completely permitted,’ he said. ‘There wasn’t a single policeman saying ‘don’t do this’’

Hip Hop legend and media icon, Russell Simmons, is confirmed to be on site at the Occupy Wall Street protest, as Alexander Higgins Blog reports. In an interview with MSNBC below Simmons states:
Last time I got involved in a protest I brought a hundred thousand people there, for the Rockefeller Drug Laws. And if I get involved really heavily in this one, we find the agenda and have a common ground we can bring hundreds of thousands of people small seeds are planted, but it could grow into something very big.
Does the arrival of moguls like Simmons and Michael Moore indicate legitimate concern and solidarity? Political grandstanding? Or even controlled opposition? The crowd that has gathered since Sept. 17th is beginning to swell with the recent addition of unions and liberal groups, as reported by Raw Story.
Among unions, the United Federation of Teachers, 32BJ SEIU, 1199 SEIU, Workers United and Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100 have said they will participate in the protest next Wednesday.
The Working Families Party, MoveOn.org, Make the Road New York, the Coalition for the Homeless, the Alliance for Quality Education, Community Voices Heard, United New York and Strong Economy For All also plan to support the demonstration.
It is encouraging to see people from across the political spectrum unite around a common oppression. This diversity is exactly what it is going to take to affect real and lasting change. People are rapidly waking up to the fact that their neighbors are not to blame for the current calamity. This concept is summed up perfectly by a 9/11 first responder who articulates how the system has treated him, and what he has in common with other protesters at the Occupy Wall Street demonstration.

As corporate media continues to ignore the building presence in Manhattan to protest against the corrupt banking system, activists have gathered to document this Tahrir-square style gathering. Below are videos that illustrate the growing unrest, as well as a link to the current livestream of the area. The nature of the protests also has laid bare the absolute police state that has become entrenched in America. In the first video we hear the reporter conclude by saying, “As of now it’s still unclear if the police will allow protesters to stay here…” As if that is a normal response to peaceful assembly for a redress of grievances in a free society.

One of the first signs of unrest began back in April, 2010 as RT states: As the big banks such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase come under even more scrutiny, even allegedly breaking laws, they continue to conduct business as usual.
The citizens of America have had enough, say the thousands who marched in New York protesting the banks and their greed. Will the lobbyists the banks hired persuade Washington to do nothing? Or will the people be heard?
