George W. Bush Paints Portraits Of The Veterans Who Were “Injured Carrying Out My Orders”

This Veterans Day, former president George W. Bush revealed one of his favorite hobbies and talents, painting portraits. However, there was an extremely disturbing twist.

This week, Bush posted a photo to his official Instagram account, showing himself in an art room painting portraits of the veterans who were injured carrying out his orders. He was even brazen enough to describe the situation in those exact words.

In the caption below the photo, Bush said,

Over the past several months, I’ve painted the portraits of 98 wounded warriors I’ve gotten to know – remarkable men and women who were injured carrying out my orders. I think about them on #VeteransDay and every day. Their paintings and stories will be featured in PORTRAITS OF COURAGE – a book and special exhibit – next spring, and I am donating all my proceeds to @thebushcenter and our Military Service Initiative’s work to honor and support them. Is this a slap in the face to the veterans who Bush sent to be injured and die in senseless wars, or does he actually have remorse for the part he played in the conflicts?

The portraits will also be featured in a book that will be released by the former president and will tell the stories of the veterans depicted in the paintings.

For some reason, despite the fact that Bush said he painted 98 veterans, the official “portraits of courage” series consists of a total of 66 images, according to the website.

66 is a bit of a strange number for them to select, don’t you think?

The paintings in the book will be the subject of a special exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas on the campus of SMU that will be open to the public from March 2, 2017 through October 1, 2017.

He should be the final painting.

  • Ingmar Blessing

From the painting technique’s perspective: He’s good. Apparently learned a lot in the last few years (since his Merkel portrait) and it looks like he actually found a style.

    • OldeSoul

There is nothing “good” about a person who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and instead of being in a prison cell where he belongs, he’s taking art lessons and selling books. I don’t care what his portraits look like, his style sucks. I know you’re trying to be objective, perhaps you’re an artist yourself, but please don’t paint this narcissistic creep to be anything other than the genocidal madman he is.

      • Ingmar Blessing

I thought about mentioning Hitler being the better painter anyway. You’re right, Bush should paint behind bars.

        • Razedbywolvs

No, you didn’t do anything wrong. Judging an art is not the same thing as judging a artist. Thats why they have a stupid French word for it.

          • OldeSoul

Well how about judging the subject matter of what this genocidal megalomanic paints? Are we allowed to do that? Because you’ll note these soldiers were WIA. Why not paint all the dead citizens in the ME too? That would take a Jackson Pollock-sized canvass. No, we most certainly can judge a person’s art by who they are. To do otherwise gives them status as human beings, which this “artist” does not deserve.

          • Razedbywolvs

Can you judge a gun by the murderer it used?

          • OldeSoul

            Complete lack of relevance.

          • Razedbywolvs

So if you don’t know who painted this can you tell if it’s good or bad?

          • OldeSoul

            I’m guessing it’s a self portrait.

          • Razedbywolvs

You really think a ostrich painted that… Ok well everything you said was correct and it has been nice talking to you.

Must be why he backed the ‘let them die’ at Benghazi Secretary of State instead of the Donald.

  • robertsgt40

Hitler was an “artist” too. George, how about a mural of all the dead who weren’t happy with your regime change?(1million and counting).

    • RJ O’Guillory

…he should be painting a picture of Cheney in the command bunker…giving out orders as their 911 false-flag was being carried out…and GW sat reading My Pet Goat. Traitor.
      RJ O’Guillory

  • Tony Gavin

He is an even better bullshit artist.

  • Bush never gave any orders.

    Cheney-Rumsfeld did.

Bush, ever the pathetic mediocrity, is just assuaging his guilt about all the horror he could have stopped.
