28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

Michael Snyder
Activist Post

Update: New article addressing some of the critics who say that this information is "alarmist."
Something Is Killing Life All Over The Pacific Ocean – Could It Be Fukushima?

The map below comes from the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center. It shows that radiation levels at radiation monitoring stations all over the country are elevated. As you will notice, this is particularly true along the west coast of the United States. Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean. That means that the total amount of radioactive material released from Fukushima is constantly increasing, and it is steadily building up in our food chain.

Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin. They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless innocent people will develop cancer and other health problems as a result of exposure to high levels of nuclear radiation. We are talking about a nuclear disaster that is absolutely unprecedented, and it is constantly getting worse. The following are 28 signs that the west coast of North America is being absolutely fried with nuclear radiation from Fukushima…

1. Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores
Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.
The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had “alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.

2. There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline…
At island rookeries off the Southern California coast, 45 percent of the pups born in June have died, said Sharon Melin, a wildlife biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service based in Seattle. Normally, less than one-third of the pups would die.   It’s gotten so bad in the past two weeks that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an “unusual mortality event.”
3. Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low.  Many are blaming Fukushima.

4. Something is causing fish all along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.

5. A vast field of radioactive debris from Fukushima that is approximately the size of California has crossed the Pacific Ocean and is starting to collide with the west coast.

6. It is being projected that the radioactivity of coastal waters off the U.S. west coast could double over the next five to six years.

7. Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

8. One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

9. Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested
• 91 percent of the halibut
• 92 percent of the sardines
• 93 percent of the tuna and eel
• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies
• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

10. Canadian authorities are finding extremely high levels of nuclear radiation in certain fish samples…
Some fish samples tested to date have had very high levels of radiation: one sea bass sample collected in July, for example, had 1,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium.
11. Some experts believe that we could see very high levels of cancer along the west coast just from people eating contaminated fish
“Look at what’s going on now: They’re dumping huge amounts of radioactivity into the ocean — no one expected that in 2011,” Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear policy lecturer at the University of California-Santa Cruz, told Global Security Newswire. “We could have large numbers of cancer from ingestion of fish.”
12. BBC News recently reported that radiation levels around Fukushima are “18 times higher” than previously believed.

13. An EU-funded study concluded that Fukushima released up to 210 quadrillion becquerels of cesium-137 into the atmosphere.

14. Atmospheric radiation from Fukushima reached the west coast of the United States within a few days back in 2011.

15. At this point, 300 tons of contaminated water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

16. A senior researcher of marine chemistry at the Japan Meteorological Agency’s Meteorological Research Institute says that “30 billion becquerels of radioactive cesium and 30 billion becquerels of radioactive strontium” are being released into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

17. According to Tepco, a total of somewhere between 20 trillion and 40 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium have gotten into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima disaster first began.

18. According to a professor at Tokyo University, 3 gigabecquerels of cesium-137 are flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every single day.

19. It has been estimated that up to 100 times as much nuclear radiation has been released into the ocean from Fukushima than was released during the entire Chernobyl disaster.

20. One recent study concluded that a very large plume of cesium-137 from the Fukushima disaster will start flowing into U.S. coastal waters early next year
Ocean simulations showed that the plume of radioactive cesium-137 released by the Fukushima disaster in 2011 could begin flowing into U.S. coastal waters starting in early 2014 and peak in 2016.
21. It is being projected that significant levels of cesium-137 will reach every corner of the Pacific Ocean by the year 2020.

22. It is being projected that the entire Pacific Ocean will soon “have cesium levels 5 to 10 times higher” than what we witnessed during the era of heavy atomic bomb testing in the Pacific many decades ago.

23. The immense amounts of nuclear radiation getting into the water in the Pacific Ocean has caused environmental activist Joe Martino to issue the following warning
Your days of eating Pacific Ocean fish are over.
24. The Iodine-131, Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 that are constantly coming from Fukushima are going to affect the health of those living the the northern hemisphere for a very, very long time.  Just consider what Harvey Wasserman had to say about this…
Iodine-131, for example, can be ingested into the thyroid, where it emits beta particles (electrons) that damage tissue. A plague of damaged thyroids has already been reported among as many as 40 percent of the children in the Fukushima area. That percentage can only go higher. In developing youngsters, it can stunt both physical and mental growth. Among adults it causes a very wide range of ancillary ailments, including cancer.
Strontium-90’s half-life is around 29 years. It mimics calcium and goes to our bones.
25. According to a recent Planet Infowars report, the California coastline is being transformed into “a dead zone”…
The California coastline is becoming like a dead zone.
If you haven’t been to a California beach lately, you probably don’t know that the rocks are unnaturally CLEAN – there’s hardly any kelp, barnacles, sea urchins, etc. anymore and the tide pools are similarly eerily devoid of crabs, snails and other scurrying signs of life… and especially as compared to 10 – 15 years ago when one was wise to wear tennis shoes on a trip to the beach in order to avoid cutting one’s feet on all the STUFF of life – broken shells, bones, glass, driftwood, etc.
There are also days when I am hard-pressed to find even a half dozen seagulls and/or terns on the county beach.
You can still find a few gulls trolling the picnic areas and some of the restaurants (with outdoor seating areas) for food, of course, but, when I think back to 10 – 15 years ago, the skies and ALL the beaches were literally filled with seagulls and the haunting sound of their cries both day and night…
NOW it’s unnaturally quiet.
26. A study conducted last year came to the conclusion that radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster could negatively affect human life along the west coast of North America from Mexico to Alaska “for decades”.

27. According to the Wall Street Journal, it is being projected that the cleanup of Fukushima could take up to 40 years to complete.

28. Yale Professor Charles Perrow is warning that if the cleanup of Fukushima is not handled with 100% precision that humanity could be threatened "for thousands of years"…
Conditions in the unit 4 pool, 100 feet from the ground, are perilous, and if any two of the rods touch it could cause a nuclear reaction that would be uncontrollable. The radiation emitted from all these rods, if they are not continually cool and kept separate, would require the evacuation of surrounding areas including Tokyo. Because of the radiation at the site the 6,375 rods in the common storage pool could not be continuously cooled; they would fission and all of humanity will be threatened, for thousands of years.
Are you starting to understand why so many people are so deeply concerned about what is going on at Fukushima?

Sad when so many other ways to produce electricity are available to us!
Japan is on the ocean and could be using wave action to turn turbins to produce clean electrical out put along with solar! Very sad we all depend on such a dangerous fusion process!

Too bad they keep using dangerous forms of electricity when aternatives are available! Especially using ocean waves, solar and wind!

michael snyder is a fear mongering idiot. every one of his articles is written in the same style of "20 signs that xyz is happening" and then he copies other peoples sources. Somehow he has made a career out of selling fear due to all the prepper advertisements on his third tier website. He was a failed lawyer who somehow believes he is now an economist among many other professions that require an intense amount of schooling. I bought his book as a joke off of amazon because it was only 2 dollars and a thousand monkeys on typewriters could have come up with a better story. Although news channels have purposely neglected to cover the Fukashima disaster, people need to purposely forget michael snyder as any credible news source.

In his first paragraph he uses the words - United States. The United (past tense=dead) States is not a landmass, it's a corporation. TONS of legal rulings and statutes repeat this over and over and over again.

I tried to get information as to whether testing is being done from both provincial and federal officials last month. All roads lead back to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency whom I spoke with. They were told to stop testing 2 years ago, and they have not been told to resume any testing. SO....I would like to know where did this statement come from? "Canadian authorities are finding extremely high levels of nuclear radiation in certain fish samples…Some fish samples tested to date have had very high levels of radiation: one sea bass sample collected in July, for example, had 1,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium." This sounds like the report that was published in 2012, based on much earlier data.

Sharon, your comments are noble, but unrealistic. Solar and wind based power generation is at best a novelty when compared to the needs of the production of electricity. The current technology just is not there to produce the massive amount of wattage needed to maintain our present demands. It would take massive amounts, 1000's of acres of solar panels just to produce enough power for one small city, and even then it would need to be supplemented by existing plants. Wind turbines have also been a disappointment in production and even they have severe environmental impacts. It may be 50 to 100 years before a safe renewable energy source is commercially viable.

Well I think ITs about time to pack up shop and move to the east coast. I think its funny that japan is trying to fix it and REUSE IT!!!! Also the media IS NOT going to cover this. Two things will happen #1 wide spread panic and people over reacting and #2 people on the other side of the spectrum saying its fake and everyone is crazy in there delusional state. Thus equaling widespread panic. Remember the US is a corporation and runs on money so things like this cannot happen it would put a dent in the country's pocket book.

oh, good gawd. Here's the title to this article....

28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

Really??! Please define "fried"? What kind of radiation? What are the levels?

This article is all hype, speculation and more likely, simple propaganda. I can only imagine activistpost role in all of this, as with many other "peoples" blogs or activist blogs.

Not a single data point is presented yet the author feels compelled in expressing his result as a conclusive "absolutely fried". GIVE. ME. A. BREAK.

As exhibited by the loon comments thus far to this article, the bait has been swallowed and the hype continues....so you can live in fear and so you can continue to propagate fear on behalf of the propagandists.

This articles is completely baseless and without merit. There is no presentation of analytical (measurement) data from any independent unbiased research group or individual. Do you really believe that there are not capable (amateur) professionals other than the government monitoring the air and water, and this event??

You should begin to learn what the truth is. You can only begin to understand the truth once you have taught yourself. No one will bring the truth to you, and this article is a perfect example of how they tell you what you want to hear and you continue the fear mongering on their behalf.

Please get a clue and do your own research. Articles like this trash piece should be ignored, and for that matter, so should this website since they do not have the intelligence or wherewithal to NOT print this article.

Ridiculous. Thumbs down to activistpost. Guess which side of the fence they are on??

Anonymous said...

I was in Northern California for 3 weeks in September 2012, didn't notice ANY of this!! Sea Lions seemed fine, etc. Not sure of other details, I'm not a scientist. I think this is hype. No doubt that quake did some major damage and proves we should NOT rely on nuclear energy, but articles like this go way over the top.

This is absolute garbage. First, all foods contain naturally-occurring radiation with potassium-rich fruits like bananas having a fair amount (although still far, far below anything considered dangerous). Second, a recent, peer-reviewed study of pacific bluefin tuna, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that a 7 ounce serving contains about 1/20th the radiation that you would get from eating one organic banana.

Third, the researchers looked at the isotopes found in the bluefin tuna and found that the *naturally occurring* isotopes were present in amounts that were orders of magnitude larger than the amounts traceable to the Fukushima accident.

So please, *please* don't go spreading this garbage around - learn to think for yourself.

I am always amazed when people like you (conveniently posting as anonymous) illustrate your willful ignorance and lack of desire to educate yourself on even the most critical of issues, by taking potshots at the author of an article you do not want to believe is true. Yes, we realize you do not do "your homework", otherwise you would already know that everything Snyder has presented here is well-documented, proven fact, and that the entire world (other than the U.S. Lamestream media) has been investigating, recording, and distributing this information since right after the event in 2011. What Snyder has given you here is a summary, for YOUR convenience, of the actual (true) situation and the prospects we all face in the future due to the wreckless contamination of the seas and atmosphere caused by the Fukushima disaster. It would be a starting point, if read by a mature adult, that enables a serious study of the issue from category to category (conveniently listed above). Sadly, you are not that mature adult, so the value of Snyder's efforts is wasted on you. It is always easier to cover your ears and bury your head, but I just hope you don't have children who are relying on you to protect and gude them.

Spent the day at China Beach in San Fran this past weekend: wow, the wildlife was incredible. Multiple dolphin sightings, then a sea lion, sand crabs and then a big crab near the shore. Lots of mussels off the rocks. Sea gulls galore.... Looks good to me! But I also do believe in the widespread consequences and global disruption/damage by Fukushima.... And then you read the bible quote... lost me there. Buh bye.

i agree wiyh the message..; but this is untruthful, alarmist propaganda.(probably from the petrochem industry)
for example;
point #6" It is being projected that the radioactivity of coastal waters off the U.S. west coast could double over the next five to six years" ...This is IMPOISSIBLE... even if all six reactors were shredded and dumped into the ocean, the radiation levels would not reach double what the natural background radiation levels.
either the author is stupid or he thinks you are...

point #7: "Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast." ...if you follow their links and look at the study, their 'very high levels of cesium-137' contain values(in Bq/kg) that are half that of fresh lumber...

Fukushima is one of the nearly 500 nuclear plants existing now all around the world, it takes 12 hours of blackouts to start a unstoppable fusion in each of them (chinese sindrome).
Today there are 300.000 tons of nuclear waste (10.000 tons more each year) that need attention for other 50.000 till 1 million years to return to a state of non-radiotoxicity. What kind of animal on the face of the earth will take care to that unusable waste for thousands of years? For sure not mankind.
No mainstream media will tell you that the lifestyle of Western Man has condemned the Planet to be uninhabitable due to radiation in the very near future.
While the zombies culprits of the catastrophe (the western man producer / consumer) in the middle of the collapse of the economic system which can no longer do without, can not do nothing but beg for their masters to return to be able to consume as before.
Do not look for faults on the upper floors of the system, look for them in your own homes.

3 reasons for nuke power;
1) It is extremely expensive to build. It uses our tax money to help build it with the corporations. This funnels all the money from anyone wanting electrical power into a few, powerful hands.
2) It produces nuke weapon materials or the possibility of making them to hold a hammer over everyone else's head. This allows the psychopathic uber-rich to mandate societal directions. (take a view, and every result is stupid, damaging, and near fatal)
3) A nuke plant uses all that "high technology" to BOIL WATER! That is ALL that it needs to do. As a result of making a toxic teapot we will inevitably have more and more radiation issues. Not possible to avoid.

Summation: If this were an intelligent technology, the possiblity of safety would exist. It absolutely, undeniably does NOT exist. The inescapable conclusion is therefore: Science is not as smart as it thinks that it is, and we need to ride herd on these morons that willingly do whatever they CAN regardless of whether or not they possibly SHOULD.

some of these comments are ridiculous, The one "Anonymous" beginning with "Good Gawd" do you really think the event will have no affect on the ocean? you cant be that naïve, I do agree, that a lot of this is hype, and propaganda peddling, but facts are facts, cesium 137 and strontium, are extremely hazardous to the human body, small changes in the levels of these substances contained in our surroundings, never mind in the food we eat and water we drink, cause massive problems in our bodies, even more, humans have NEVER been exposed to this level of radiation on a scale this massive. research the capacity of Chernobyl plant and then of the fukushima plant, it is MUCH larger, and directly IN THE OCEAN, not on the coast, or slightly inland. everything that comes from it will end up in the pacific ocean, there is no way to stop that. I have provided you with research points to do on your own, because I have spent the time doing the same. this is and will for many decades effect the pacific ocean wildlife, thus effecting humanity, if you believe anything other than that, you've probably already been affected.

Still no one looks further ahead than a few years. Once the Fukushima disaster is completely out of control and everyone knows it, chaos will set in. Society will descend into anarchy. Who will maintain all of the OTHER nuclear reactors around the world? No one. Eventually they will ALL melt down, rendering this planet uninhabitable for MILLIONS of years. [And btw, the superstitious, addled Babble thumping is irrelevant.]

-Verbatim from the article linked in point 1: "Reuters noted that preliminary studies do not support a theory that the disease is due to contamination from the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan."

-Verbatim from the article linked in point 4: "DFO fish health experts say the bleeding could stem from a range of causes as herring naturally carry a variety of pathogens, Tompkins said." There is no mention of Fukushima or radiation anywhere in the article.

This guy is either a fearmonger or criminally lazy. I personally don't care one way or another how any of this business plays out, but this is a particularly awful listicle that no intelligent person should waste time with.

the sources on this site are awful. these numbers may seem scary until you research what they actually mean. for example the tuna caught off california had cesium 3% higher than normal levels, and well within safety standards. even off fukushima they've resumed fishing, and they're 10x more strict when it comes to radiation limits (100 Bq/kg compared to roughly 1000 Bq/kg in the US/EU). not to mention there hasn't a single death as a result of this "disaster".

How many people posting here are organizing locally, demanding the governments of the world band together to plug up that f*ng hole in Fukushima and figure it out? WE NEED TO DEMAND AN END TO THE CATASTROPHE, PUT ALL OF OUR SCIENTIFIC EFFORTS INTO RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. WE CAN'T LET A FEW SCIENTISTS WHO ARE INTENT ON PERPETUATING NUCLEAR DO THE WORK.
We need to stop commenting, stop sitting at our computers and organize and get people into the streets. It is the only way we are going to stop these monsters.
WE NEED STREET ACTION
WE NEED PEOPLE TO GET OFF THEIR REAR ENDS AND REFUSE TO BE DESTROYED!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. STOP ACCEPTING THE LIES OF THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY. THERE ARE OTHER METHODS FOR ENERGY.
WE CAN END NUCLEARISM.
WE CAN STOP FUKUSHIMA FROM DESTROYING THE PLANET.
WE MUST ACT NOW.
WE MUST REFUSE TO SIT IN FRONT OF THE ONCOMING TRAIN WITH OUR EYES WIDE OPEN AND GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

1. Posted in april 2012 with no update on testing. This article addresses that saying “Preliminary studies [last year of sickened seals and walruses] showed that radiation poisoning is not the cause, temporarily ruling out a theory that the animals were sickened by contamination from the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan.”: http://enenews.com/...

2. Couldn't find any conclusive tests or surveys of anchovy populations being effected. Complete speculation.

3, 4. The bleeding (from point 4) is caused from a virus, not radiation, as states in their referenced link, which also states that it may be passed to sockeye salmon (which accounts for point 3)

5. There is no proof that the debris is radioactive. The debris is also not from Fukushima, its from all of Japan as stated

6. From the article regarding the highest radiation found in the ocean that could reach our shores... “While this may sound alarming, these levels are still lower than those permitted for drinking water,”

7. The referenced link says the research was done between Japan and Guam, not between Hawaii and west coast. It also does not state weather the levels were high or low.

8. The article mentions that the radiation levels in the fish were a mere 3% over typical yearly background levels. 3% of human background levels would be the equivalent of 3 chest X-rays or... 10% the amount of radiation received from a mammogram.

Now why did I waste all this time proving your points are invalid? Yawn.

The U.S. government has had a clean abundant and very powerful source of energy for many years. They want to reduce the population by half or more before they release this new technology to the world. They also want have in place total control of population growth first. The problem is that most people still believe the official accounts on the ramifications from Fukushima.

But if people knew that for more than half a century corporate interests of nations dedicated to using ionizing radiation extensively (e.g., in nuclear energy plants or weaponry), such as the US, France, or Japan, have been whitewashing the true toxicity of irradiation to human health and obfuscated the true harm to people after every accident involving radiation (discussed in the ebook "The Mammogram Myth" by Rolf Hefti) they wouldn't swiftly reject such reports as fearmongering.

Politics and gigantic financial profits keep the public at large in the dark about the truth on radiation dangers and damages...

Hey guys.

I am born in 1994, 8 years after the terrible accident at Chernobyl.
My mom gave birth to my older brother in 1986, already then there were signs of malfunctioning on bodyparts within the first year of life, and even several deaths. This made me wonder alot about radiation and the effect it have on humans. We Norwegians are very fond of making and eating our own food and product. The problem were also trading food with Sweden and Finland. When I walk at the cemetaries I can find many deathstones with babies dying within 1 year, or at birth, from 1986-1992. There are more common deaths among babies in this period. It may come as a shock for you, but alot of babies are dying, and we need to spread good energy for all people around the Pacific Occean. I've read that these radiation clouds, or whatever they've called, may actually hit Norway through the Mexico Gulf. This is very interesting, and yet scary. Still not believe this is actually happening, without any further ado.

If you care about this issue, please take the time to read this (credible) NY Times piece on just how severe the risks are from Fukashima radiation:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/22/opinion/fear-vs-radiation-the-mismatch.html?_r=0

After reading it, you will realize we are being fried by Fukashima radiation at about the same rate we are being fried from the isotopes in our home smoke detectors - That is we simply aren't!

The Fukashima disaster was terrible, however it poses next to no risk for those living even ten miles from the plant, much less thousands of miles away. This article is a form of terrorism. Spreading irrational fear over events that are not a threat diffuses the energy we should be spending in fighting true threats to our planet such as global warming. The fact that people can believe this stuff for a minute underlines how poor science education is in our country. This article makes a scientific claim, however fails to use anything but fear-mongering to prove the point. It is fear-porn. The site where this article is originally posted allows no debate on the subject in the comments. Someone is trying to make money selling Geiger counters to idiots.

I'm so glad that so many commenters see through this shill, who obviously sees value in maintaining this corrupt System. The System REQUIRERS your fear and cooperation, and without it, it loses power. You other commenters who buy into this crap, need to do some research of your own, and actually THINK instead of REACT for a change.

Here are three things for you to look at to decide for yourselves what is true and what is not true. The government uses "science" by edict and consensus to tell you lies.

First, there is this website, which is privately run by a guy named Tim Flanegin who works for a place called Mineral Labs in Arizona. The website is Radiation Network http://radiationnetwork.com/index.htm and provides radiation monitoring data from volunteers of ordinary people like you and me. All current radiation levels are normal background, and there hasn't been an Alert Message http://radiationnetwork.com/Message.htm since 8/21/2013, 7:45 A.M., which did say there were high levels of radiation REPORTED by news agencies from Fukushima, but noted no evidence to back that claim up. Occasionally there are alerts reported from stations, but there is usually a normal explanation for them, like electronics failures, people who are irradiated at the hospital, elecrical storms, etc.

Second, I would like to introduce you to The Nuclear Scare Scam | Galen Winsor - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejCQrOTE-XA who will swallow some radioactive Uranium powder right before your eyes to illustrate that this stuff is not toxic at all! He will give you an honest and expert assessment of radiation "dangers" from his vast experience in working with radioactive materials since the 1940's.

And thirdly, here is some information from a toxicologist, Edward Calabrese Alleges Hermann Muller Suppressed Radiation Effects Evidence in 1946 http://ts-si.org/horizons/30988-edward-calabrese-alleges-hermann-muller-suppressed-radiation-effects-evidence-in-1946

He exposes the "Linear, No Threshold" model of toxicology, not only related to radiation, but to other toxins as well, as completely bogus. There is another model of toxicology, which has ample evidence to show it is correct, called hormesis. Hormesis is a biological phenomenon whereby not only is there a LACK of harm, but there is a beneficial effect (improved health, stress tolerance, growth or longevity) results from exposure to low doses of an agent that is otherwise toxic or lethal when given at higher doses.

Okay, here is a bonus website for you to look at: AUSTRALIA: Cave radioactive miraculous healing http://www.oddities123.com/australia-cave-radioactive-miraculous-healing/

Fukushima Worker: I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2012, now stomach and intestinal cancers found recently — Each developed independently, not from one spreading — Worked at plant for just 4 months in 2011

A 55 year old man who worked at Fukushima from July 2011 to October 2011 has filed a claim for workers’ comp, the fourth case involving radiation nationwide (they’re all pending… no one has been awarded anything yet).
He had to leave the workplace after 4 months, when his exposure exceeded the 50 msv/year legal limit.
He was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May 2012, and underwent an operation.
Intestinal and stomach cancers were found March this year.
The cancers had not spread; they had originated separately in each organ.

THORIUM energy alternative to Nuclear Power + GOVERNMENT meddling to suppress it!

http://tinyurl.com/THORIUM-energy

Three Mile Island-USA, Chernobyl-USSR, Fukushima Daiichi-Japan.
ANY system can fail at some time for some reason.
Preference should be given to systems that "fail safe", i.e. fail in such a way as to protect human life and property.
In the "system" of nuclear energy, THORIUM is a "fail safe" system. Uranium is NOT!

What is special about thorium?

There is a nuclear technology called thorium that has the ability to provide all the energy that we need for the next 10,000 years in the United States. We built one of these reactors at Oak Ridge in the 1960s, and we proved that it works.

"US physicists in the late 1940s explored thorium fuel for power. It has a higher neutron yield than uranium, a better fission rating, longer fuel cycles, and does not require the extra cost of isotope separation. The plans were shelved because thorium does not produce plutonium for bombs."

Thorium is as abundant as lead, (it is in COAL!) and produces far less radioactive waste than uranium. Thorium comes out of the ground as a 100% pure, usable isotope, which does not require enrichment, whereas natural uranium contains only 0.7% fissionable U235. But development was shunted aside by the FedGov because it could not be used to exterminate its enemies.

All the impassioned anti-nuclear agitation of the last half century, all the delay and all of the admittedly overstated danger, and all the massive dependence on oil with its potential for conflict in the Middle East, could have been avoided if only the FedGov had not been fixated on weapons of mass destruction. I knew that government had screwed up nukes but I did not know the enormous, wicked extent of the deception.

By weight, thorium can produce 200 times as much energy as uranium, reactors are cheaper to design and waste, much cheaper to store - even if it is stored; for in thorium reactors, the waste can be regenerated for use as fuel. It is also inherently safer, since its fission reaction has to be primed; absent an external neutron stream, it shuts down automatically.

Control rods are not needed, either to regulate energy production or to stop fission in an emergency, because the fission rate is determined by the proton accelerator. If the accelerator stops sending protons, fission stops almost instantly.

Thorium is in coal. Take the thorium out of the coal, use it as a power source, and then turn the coal into synfuel. The Germans perfected this process, and there is actually now a commercial plant running in South Africa by a company called Sasol.

India is switching to thorium and China is committed to extensive use of this technology.

Here is a pretty straight forward article that examines the sources of the "28 Signs... " article.
http://www.southernfriedscience.com/?p=15903
It is not long. Read all the way to the bottom. There is plenty to be concerned about that is based on real science. It takes time and effort to find sources to trust. Spend some time finding web sites and authors that are trustworthy. Most of the information out there is just to generate revenue clicks for the web site owners. Unfortunately, the more sensational and exaggerated, the more clicks they get. Neither the right nor the left are innocent. But there is good information and research being done. You won't find it if you are being lazy and just want to reinforce your current prejudices.
Good luck to you all.

The fact that this guy doesn't even know the difference between Radiation and Contamination renders him as completely ignorant on the entire matter.
That difference was like the first thing I learned when I was being trained as a nuclear operator.
It's Radiation 101. I know schoolchildren that know the difference.

I am nuclear trained - I'm a qualified Reactor Operator - and I live in the Tokyo Bay area. I've been denouncing articles like this for years for their lack of intelligence or real fact - they're based on assumptions and completely disregard the natural order of nature, and function only on sensationalism.

Andrew Thaler's article, linked a couple posts above mine, perfectly rips this article apart in ways I never could - he's a Marine biologist and has an entirely different field of study than mine. He says he's not a Nuclear Physicist - in all technicality, for all of my training and experience, I'm not really either, but compared to this 28 Signs article, I might as well be - and let's face it, you don't need a "nuclear physicist," that's just the term everyone jumps to because they don't know the qualifications. I am, however, a qualified Radiation Worker. That doesn't really mean much to nuclear operators - all have to be - but it does mean I know a thing or two about contamination. I did help with surveys around the Tokyo Bay area in March '11, and I did get Internal Monitoring done on myself - only to find I got so little radiation dose, that those fleeing to America by plane got more by being that much closer to the sun than I did by staying. (my 40microSieverts to their 70.)

In short: This is the kind of article my entire reactor department laughs at, because it's just so silly, illogical, and it contradicts itself, and flat out wrong, and Andrew Thaler has shown us why the Marine Biologist community does as well.

Japanese politicians are mostly liars but the reason why everyone is helping them hide the truth is #1 there's nothing that they can do to fix this (they can't even assess the situation because no one and not even machines can be put into that area) #2 If Japan admits to this, there'll be a chaos at Wall Street. The immediate exposure of Fukushima is not the problem , which is what your new york times article was heavily concentrated on. The fact that Fukushima is currently leaking 200 tons of radioactive material everyday since the explosion and contaminating their coast, and slowly through upwelling traveling through out the pacific, is the problem. Japan has banned all sales of fish over a year ago, and the amount of pollution is rapidly increasing until they can control it. Here is another nytimes article you might understand it better, for it is focused on the actual issue of the consumption of these radioactive material, not initial contact from the explosion. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/26/world/asia/fish-off-fukushima-japan-show-elevated-levels-of-cesium.html

You're free to believe what you want. But don't be foolish enough to believe that a full meltdown of multiple nuclear reactors anywhere on this planet won't have ANY environmental impact.

consuming bicarbonate of soda also known as baking powder counteracts ,detoxes effects from radiation

lol this was this worst reference you could have chosen. You should look into this subject if you are at all interested. The immediate exposure of Fukushima is not the problem , which is what your new york times article was heavily semanatori concentrated on. The fact that Fukushima is currently leaking 200 tons of radioactive material everyday since the explosion and contaminating their coast, and slowly through upwelling traveling through out the pacific, is the problem.

Yeah the only remedy to anything is to sit around, clasp your hands together, and spout nonsense to a false God. Because that's ever solved a single problem right? If that's the most you've ever contributed to this world you should be ashamed. People like you make me absolutely sick.

I would like to know that as well.

But then the government wouldn't make money!

Please if you want the truth dont read this article. Read the citations. If you investigate each individual situation of the 28 it gets knocked down to 0. I'm not saying that this is not a disaster and nothing should be done. I'm just saying that the evidence provided as proof on this article is not supportive of the claims made in the article. They even provide links to there sources. That if you actually read the sources this article twists every one of them to meet there needs. We need to clean up this disaster but spreading unsubstantiated claims that are in presidented and spreading fear is not the solution. For more info on these 28 false claims go here.

I am not saying the supporters of this page are sheep, but this article does not support its claim. I am saying they are sheep if they choose the convenient answer of blaming Fukushima as the cause of all the planets ills, ill that were well established before that event. Fukushima makes a great whipping boy for the real cultprit. US!

The production of coal, oil&gas, and the petrochemical industry are a real disaster. Think about how many production accidents and deaths (rigs and mines and plants), how many distribution accidents (pipelines, derailments, rigs, ships), and of course the radiation (yes really - coal), pollution and CO2 that are actually warming our oceans, acidifying the oceans, and actually killing the sealife.

How could that slow death be responsible? When the single bullet of Fukushima is so much easier to satisfy our consciences.

The first article you link even says PRELIMINARY STUDIES DO NOT SUPPORT A THEORY THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY FUKUSHIMA. I won't call you people that wrote this and believe it "alarmist"; I'll call you guys fucking idiots.

OH MY GOD WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE. Why isnt this mentioned anywhere else aside from this extreamly reliable source website?? People need to know this information so the entire west coast can move to the west coast! then we can buy gold and build bunkers and buy guns and trucks! Then when nothing happends all the crap i just bought can be handed down to the next idiot generation iv created so he can hoard and prep for "the end"

It's funny Liberals are pretending nothing is wrong *and many Republicans* yet whenever BP has a disaster spill they immediately get people into a panic which winds up being no big deal to demonize drilling for oil because that will mean we are not in debt to foreign creditors.

Liberals CANNOT let that happen. Remember Liberals. FIGHT HARD and long for global control and do NOT let those nasty Republicans stop you from enslaving America to foreign creditors.

Live long and prosper.

Hey anonymous 7:35 AM- you said: "OH MY GOD WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE Why isnt this mentioned anywhere else aside from this extreamly reliable source website??"

Go ahead and go back to sleep, don't let any of this bother you. You need NPR lies, CNN or Rachel Maddow to tell U the radiation levels are real before you believe it? Diverse world-wide Independent media versus primarily the same 6 corporations that own all of the mainstream media- and U choose to believe mainstream media? LOL!

although I am truly concerned about Fukushima, this article links to sites that claim the side effects "claimed" to be from radiation are probably not. (see the first article on polar bears). These are all startling occurrences that are signs of a sick planet. Stop spreading lies that discredit actual facts supporting the threat of radiation. It's stuff like this that makes my family call me a loon when I try to tell them the truth about things.

It is truly a shame what mankind is doing to this planet and ourselves in the name of greed. If I didn't know better I would say it looks like it is being done on purpose!

You people and your lack of understanding of reality.

First off, radiation is not actually that dangerous. Large amounts of ionizing radiation is bad for you, to be sure, but we're talking doses of hundreds of mGy here.

Second, if you want to know how radioactive somewhere is, you can do that. It is called a Geiger counter, and they are readily available for purchase. Just walk out and go measure.

Indeed, outside of the immediate rescue workers at Chernobyl, there has been... well, very little effect at all, really. The reality is that people are very paranoid about radiation, but the main danger is direct, fairly immediate exposure. On the other side of the Pacific Ocean, the amount of radiation from Fukushima is pretty much zero, and would be far outclassed by actual sites around the US, which themselves contribute almost nothing.

This article contains many logical fallacies and the majority of the information in it is incorrect. In fact, I am currently using this article for a logical fallacy project in my technical writing class.

"Alarmist" doesn't begin to describe this article. DO NOT believe that the author is educated and informed about nuclear technology because of the big fancy nuclear words he uses. As a nuclear engineering student and an employee of TMI, I can guarantee this article is not worth your time. Please look to scientific journals and government websites if you are interested in learning more about the effects of Fukushima.

very true. have to find out if the United States suppoably tried to help(including other comments pertaining to this subject) or United States of America!!! thank you. Peace Out to "WE, THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF "AMERICA"!"

So you are volunteering to live there? Wasteland and dangerous are two different things. I wonder if you would eat the food from Chernobyl.
