#IDidntJoin: Stunning Photos Of U.S. Service Members Publicly Saying No To War With Syria

What do members of the U.S. military think about the possibility of a war with Syria?  So far, they appear to be overwhelmingly against it just like the rest of the general public.  In fact, a new Twitter hashtag () has been flooded with messages from service members expressing their displeasure with the idea of being forced to fight for al-Qaeda in Syria.

This is consistent with what we have been hearing from other sources as well.  For example, U.S. Representative Justin Amash recently sent out a tweet with the following message: “I’ve been hearing a lot from members of our Armed Forces. The message I consistently hear: Please vote no on military action against .”

Of course there are probably a few members of the military that would love a war with Syria, but they appear to be very much in the minority.  Hopefully the Obama administration and members of the U.S. Congress are listening.

Posted below are photos taken from Twitter of American service members publicly declaring that they do not want war with Syria.  In these photos they are wearing their uniforms, but they are obscuring their faces because they could potentially get in a lot of trouble for publicly defying the Obama administration.

We should applaud these brave service members for being willing to publicly take a stand like this…

I Didn't Join The Army To Fight For Al Qaeda

I will Not Fight For Al Qaeda In Syria

Obama I Will Not Deploy

I Didn't Join The Marine Corps To Fight For Al Qaeda

Stay Out Of Syria

No War With Syria

I Didn't Join The Navy To Fight For Al Qaeda In A Syrian Civil War

Business Insider asked members of the military to write to them and tell them what they thought about a potential conflict with Syria.  52 members of the military responded, and 50 of them were against war with Syria.  The following is one example…
I’m a U.S. Air Force vet who spent a solid 6 years shuttling between Afghanistan and Iraq, doing everything from combat airdrops to medevacs to hauling flag-draped coffins,” wrote one servicemember in an email, who also mentioned travel to 38 countries in that time. “What we do not need is another war, and we certainly do not need any further involvement in a civil war where our objective isn’t clear, and our allies aren’t really our allies.
And it is not just the rank and file that are against war with Syria.  According to the Washington Post, many among the top military brass are expressing “serious reservations” about taking action in Syria…
The Obama administration’s plan to launch a military strike against Syria is being received with serious reservations by many in the U.S. military, which is coping with the scars of two lengthy wars and a rapidly contracting budget, according to current and former officers.
Having assumed for months that the United States was unlikely to intervene militarily in Syria, the Defense Department has been thrust onto a war footing that has made many in the armed services uneasy, according to interviews with more than a dozen military officers ranging from captains to a four-star general.
This is not about being “anti-war”.  This is about not wanting to shed American blood in an Islamic civil war where neither side is our friend.

Anyone that believes that the Syrian rebels are the “good guys” is being absolutely delusional.

In fact, even the U.S. State Department has admitted that the al-Nusra Front is a terror organization that is affiliated with al-Qaeda.  According to the State Department, they have been responsible for close to 600 terror attacks since November 2011…
“There is also a threat from terrorism, including groups like al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI) affiliated al-Nusrah Front,” says the current State Department travel warning on Syria. “Since November 2011, al-Nusrah Front has claimed nearly 600 attacks–ranging from more than 40 suicide attacks to small arms and improvised explosive device operations—in major city centers including Damascus, Aleppo, Hamah, Dara, Homs, Idlib, and Dayr al-Zawr. Public places such as government buildings, shopping areas, and open spaces have been targeted.”
The bolded language in this travel warning–emphasizing that the al Qaeda affiliate fighting in the Syrian opposition has been targeting places such as “shopping areas” was put there by the State Department in the online posting of its warning.
“During these attacks numerous innocent Syrians have been killed,” then-State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said at the department’s press briefing last Dec. 11.
In a statement published May 16, the State Department said that Muhammad al-Jawlani, the leader of the al-Nusrah Front, had recently pledged allegiance to Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qa’ida’s leader.”
And even the head of al-Qaeda says that the Syrian rebels are working for his side…
In an audio recording on Thursday, Al Qaeda’s leader Ayman al-Zawahri announced his support for the beleaguered Syrian rebels.
He framed the Syrian revolution, and the fall of President Bashar al-Assad, as necessary steps towards the defeat of Israel.
“Supporting jihad in Syria to establish a Muslim state is a basic step towards Jerusalem,” he said.
So why would members of the U.S. military want to go put their lives on the line to help al-Qaeda take over Syria?

Service members would have to be insane to want to go into battle allied with al-Qaeda.

Not a single drop of precious American blood should ever be shed for al-Qaeda.  Unfortunately, the Obama administration seems absolutely determined to make this war happen, and so very soon members of the U.S. military will be forced against their will to fight for the benefit of al-Qaeda in Syria.

Anyone who joins the military is sworn to uphold the US Constitution and that is exactly what these brave soldiers are trying to do! Wake up America you are sending your sons and daughters through endless wars for the rich - THAT IS NOT WHAT OUR MILITARY IS FOR! Bravo to all of you who have had the courage to stand up and wake up America to the tyranny and downright mutilation of the Constitution ! And BOOOOO to anyone who calls them anything less than being true patriots! You obviously are not patriots!

Hi Folks, let us split hairs (not heads) Yes, no to war with Syria for these reasons
1) Cry wolf, we have been lied into so many wars (Nam, Iraq etc) that even IF this time it is true, just for all the lies of the past we need to sit this one out
2) And how will this solve anything? (see Iraq now VS before is it getting any better?)
3) Al Queda In Egypt the radical Islamic thought they had a slam dunk but the people themselves threw out the Muslim Brotherhood we had our civil war let them have theirs
4)Obama... no folks he is not Muslin nor does he support Al Queda this is foolishness, he killed Bin Laden for Christ sakes so to make this part of your protest dilutes the real and good reasons not to go to war (see 1-4). And Obama DID actually handle this right, he said OK congress you tell me, he put it out to us (Via Congress) so at least there is an attempt to reason this thru VS Bushes wrong headed strong headed commander and chief I am gonna do this no matter what approach that got us into Iraq which was lies at best because if it wasn't lies it was STUPID and you can not fix stupid.

"Stunning?" Photos of a bunch of murdering cowards hiding their faces? Is this what is called "bravery," now in the US Collective?
When the Great Leader gives the order to kill Syrians- every damn one of these hired killers will follow the orders to kill.
Just like they ALWAYS do.
So you can stop your little media scam, soldier boys.

Hey Roger, It's illegal for soldiers to express political opinions publicly. These brave soldiers are doing what they can to stop this war. What are you doing besides trashing them?

You/We/They joined the military to fight for our country. If our J.A. president wants the U.S. there to fight, then our armed forces will be there. When signing up, whether it was yesterday, or 19 years ago, you signed up to do what you are told, go where you are told to go, ext. We may not like it, we know our loved ones don't, but this is the job. Like it or not, there is nothing and will be nothing that we can do to change that. (without major consequences)

I am not for the war on Syria period. I do not think we should get involved. But these "Chicken poop" of a bunch of alleged soldiers hiding their faces is not right. They took an oath of office to serve when called. I consider these acts treason. True soldiers go where they are called. Regardless. Thanks Julia Burns

so that's it ... no more new photos? only 8 soldiers willing to honor their oaths to uphold the US Constitution, from enemies WITHIN our government as well as out ??? Shame on all of you who have sold your souls so cheaply ... especially our "represenatives" that do not uphold the will of the people or their oaths either ... at least they get paid well for their votes... what the US armed forces amount to is Welfare in Uniform - if you don't work FOR Korp Amerika - you don't work in America

"~... Islamic civil war where neither side is our friend."

This War is not about Syria, nor helping any side; but to realize that someone have to connect two neorons, which is very rare nowadays.

Shame on everyone putting these guys down. They are fed up with war, as we all should be. Endless war is not the answer..

You are the fading minority of flag waving, mentally blind Idiots. Start reading and wake up. How is it that any member of govt, let alone the president, can act in non compliance of the Constitution and not immediately be impeached? As soon as one item of the Constitution is disregarded then that's it... No more is your country what it stood for at that point in time. You need to start at '' then keep reading elsewhere
