Congresswoman: “100% Chance of a Severe Geo-Magnetic Event Capable of Crippling Our Electric Grid”

Mac Slavo
Activist Post

With the sun’s solar cycle in its peak stage this year and militaries around the world rapidly developing super electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) weapons, the threat of a catastrophic event that disables the U.S. power grid has never been greater.

In 2003 a solar flare emitted by the sun was the most powerful in recorded observational history, measuring in at levels so high that had it hit earth it would have likely disabled everything from the internet and mobile phones, to water utility plants and the whole of the U.S. electricity infrastructure. And, earlier this year in another near-miss, experts claimed the world escaped another large-scale EMP catastrophe.

While an outlier, the real possibility of an EMP event – be it natural or man made – is more probable than most people think:
We are only one act of madness away from a social cataclysm unlike anything our country has ever known. - Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ), Senior Member House Armed Service Committee
EMP is one of the small number of threats that could hold at risk the continued existence of U.S. civil society. - Dr. Robert Hermann, Commissioner US Congress EMP Commission
Just one violent active region on the sun can cause continent-wide, perhaps even planetary-scale impacts to our critical infrastructure. - John Kappenman, Principal Investigator US Congress EMP Commission
The Likelihood of a severe geo-magnetic event capable of crippling our electric grid is 100%. - Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Senior Member House Homeland Security Committee

Via Activist Post and Stan Deyo:

The fall-out from a grid-down scenario would be absolutely devastating, as noted by a spokesman for the Center for Security Policy who recently responded to the potential for EMP capable weapons being deployed over the United States:
And experts forecast if such an attack were a success, it effectively could throw the U.S. back into an age of agriculture.
“Within a year of that attack, nine out of 10 Americans would be dead, because we can’t support a population of the present size in urban centers and the like without electricity,” said Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy.
NASA has already begun implementing plans to deal with large scale power failure from a space weather anomaly, and NASA head Charles Bolden recently issued a video alert through the NASA Headquarters of Emergency Operations in which he claimed he had “been made aware of some things” that prompted him to urge NASA employees and their families to prepare for an event that could come like 9/11.

This was recently echoed by outgoing DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, who has said that a cyber attack or natural disaster on the U.S. power grid the likes of which we have never seen is imminent.

Following Napolitano’s comments it was revealed that the United States, Canada, Mexico and hundreds of private companies were planning a massive power grid down drill to simulate what an EMP attack or solar flare might look like.
The disaster drill is being described as a crisis practice unlike anything the real power grid has ever experienced. The GridEX II drill Nov. 13-14 will focus primarily on how governments will react if the electrical grid fails and, for instance, the food supply chain collapses.
As we saw in limited grid-down scenarios like those following Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy, when the grid goes down you better be ready. Within 72 hours of such an event taking place the supply chain infrastructure in affected regions will undoubtedly collapse. This is a certainty, as evidenced by what we played out within a few days of Hurricane Sandy hitting the east coast last year:
SHOCK: 72 Hours After Grid-Down: Starvation, Supply Shortages, Food Lines, No Clean Water, No Gas, Transportation Standstill
For tens of thousands of east coast residents that worst case scenario is now playing out in real-time. No longer are images of starving people waiting for government handouts restricted to just the third-world.
In the midst of crisis, once civilized societies will very rapidly descend into chaos when essential infrastructure systems collapse.
Though the National Guard was deployed before the storm even hit, there is simply no way for the government to coordinate a response requiring millions of servings of food, water and medical supplies
Many east coast residents who failed to evacuate or prepare reserve supplies ahead of the storm are being forced to fend for themselves.
Frustration and anger have taken hold, as residents have no means of acquiring food or gas and thousands of trucks across the region remain stuck in limbo.
Despite our modern infrastructure and technological advancements, we are one catastrophe away from being thrown back into the stone age.

If the grid goes down the gas stops pumping, America’s trucks stop running, and grocery store shelves stop getting stocked.

Within three days of that all hell breaks loose.

We’re talking about nothing short of a total breakdown in law & order and tens of millions of people scavenging, looting and killing for food.

The threat is as real as it gets, but you can insulate yourself should it come to pass if you take the steps to prepare now.

It starts with getting prepared for a two week power outage, and then focusing your efforts on more long-term plans that can protect you against the possibility of EMP, solar flare, and a host of other potential wide-scale disasters.

Former Congressman Roscoe Bartlett issued what is probably the most stark warning about the U.S. power grid, which he says is not only outdated, but incapable of being repaired in a timely manner should elements of it be paralyzed by an EMP weapon of geo-magnetic storm:
We could have events in the future where the power grid will go down and it’s not, in any reasonable time, coming back up. For instance, if when the power grid went down some of our large transformers were destroyed, damaged beyond use, we don’t make any of those in this country. They’re made overseas and you order one and 18 months to two years later they will deliver it. Our power grid is very vulnerable. It’s very much on edge. Our military knows that.
[… ]
There are a number of events that could create a situation in the cities where civil unrest would be a very high probability.
I think that those who can, and those who understand, need to take advantage of the opportunity when these winds of strife are not blowing to move their families out of the city.

When we talk about collapse – our grid going down is as horrific a scenario as one can imagine.

Preparing one second after is going to be too late.

Now, THERE'S a bastion of truth and integrity.

"Claiming to have graduated from Oberlin College when she was still several credits shy of a degree isn't the only reason for Brooklyn congressional wannabe Yvette Clarke to be embarrassed.

Ten years after the councilwoman left the prestigious Ohio liberal arts school behind, state officials had to file a court lien against Clarke to get her to ante up more than $17,000 in student loans she had failed to pay, records show."

It used to be the Jehova's witnesses, now the "preppers" are constantly proclaiming the end of the world. People in the USA are watching too many Hollywood alien / desaster movies, at the centre of which is always the US of A.

Read these words carefully:

this is all scare tactics, intended to put the public
in FEAR.

if there even will be any power outages, it was already
planned, and will not last more than several days.

don't forget, those who run the show rely on the
TV to broadcast their lies.

NO Power >> NO TV >> NO Brainwash >> People Wake Up.

When DHS says something is "imminent" it means they have a plan in the works. I guess they're getting ready to fire up HAARP.

People, this threat is real. You can believe it or not, it's up to you, I don't care. But I have been researching this for 2 years now. There is a 12th planet that is in our solar system, it has a different orbit from all the other planets. Planet X, nibiru or whatever you want to call it will be here the second week in November. The 12th planet comes around every 3500 to 3600 years or so. Sometimes causes minor pole shift or complete reversal. It will cause a pole shift that will in its self cause an emp, earthquakes, tsunamis, flooding, climate change and other things. Learn to like living outside in the elements, growing your own food, foraging, filtering and boiling water from outside sources, fishing, hunting, keeping warm, and how to survive period. Help others any way possible please! We all are going to go through this together so get prepared as best as possible. Make the best of it. Good luck and God bless.

@ "Read these words carefully: this is all scare tactics, intended to put the public in FEAR."

That is true to the extent that the government naturally wants people to be scared of things that they imply ONLY THEY have the resources and technology to deal with.

But past events such as the 'Carrington Event' and a basic understanding of CME'S/Solar Flares/GLSE's/the 'Solar Wind' and such says that this threat is very much real regardless of who is trying to use it to their advantage at the moment.

Just last year Earth just missed an X-Class Flare that could have easily caused the damage this Congresswoman warns about(and then some) and we were all very lucky then.

The technology may exist to "fake" such events but that doesn't change the very real danger that natural processes pose to us.

This just in...there is a 100% chance the news will continue to force more FEAR related stories down you throat.

This just in... The world has not ended yet, but there is a 100% chance that it will someday.

@ "This just in... The world has not ended yet, but there is a 100% chance that it will someday."

This just in - as society becomes more dependent on electrical energy and all the technological systems that go with it the threat from these types of events increases as well.

It is fear-mongering as the government/PTB's want people to believe that only THEY can protect them or at least "fix" things after-the-fact.

That doesn't change the fact that fear is necessary to be prepared for such things.

If you take the warning/fear as "I have to be prepared" then it's a good thing.

If you take it as "I have to be submissive to the government/PTB forces so they will save me" then it's not a good thing.

Simply mentioning the very real dangers and the fact our increasingly technological society is increasingly vulnerable to such things is not "fear-mongering"(as many users on this site and others frequently complain regarding "doomsday" articles).

The fact this comment came from a government shill shows it was meant to be fear-mongering for the "sheeple", but whether their BS works is up to the people listening to/interpreting it.

As a long-time supporter of the field of "catastrophism" I know as well as anyone how many different ways humanity, the Earth or possibly the entire Solar System could come to a horrifying end tomorrow(or in 5 minutes from now, etc.).

It is because I understand how fragile life is that I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in and speak against those who seek only to end life for their own benefit(that and they seem to plan to kill me[a "useless eater"] whether I speak out or not, so why not speak?).

With all the things that face humanity as a whole as a threat we should be united and working to preserve precious life as much as possible - instead some who claim to "love" life actually do nothing but end life and cause suffering while "enjoying"(partying/boozing/drugging it up and "living large"/wealthy) their own lives as a benefit of the suffering they impose on others.

They seek to unite themselves while/by dividing everyone else and then appoint themselves as the "guardians" or more aptly 'overlords' of Humanity - despite their record showing them to be very inhuman and at times idiotic and unfit for the role they have ordained for themselves.

Whatever, I'm just ranting now and my original point has been made, sorry for the long posts.

To summarize - it's only "fear-mongering" if you let them dictate your reaction to it.

I am so pleased that fear mongering is seen by so many people now and not working any longer.

This is wonderful! The more garbage is thrown our direction by Washington, the more people are waking up to all their nonsense & outright lies.

We now need to take control of the purse strings so they can not spend our money any way they want to, most especially including their special toys and weapons programs.

I am done supporting this failure of a system.
No money in, no money out.

Some of us moved out of the city many years ago, to avoid the problems of too many people! We built what we have now, and farmed and gardened, preserved food, and fuel! Without low income housing and rentals, the people who did go to the trouble to move out here are the same types! Wild food is handy, and cheap! After living here a long time you know where and when to hunt! That includes scared, panicky office worker types fleeing in terror, unprepared, hungry, and reverting to basic behavior! Most have no concept of living outside the city with others furnishing everything for life! But...they just "know" that THEY are unreplaceable, and vital to life (at least their own) This is the new "Party on" generation! We can handle them if they come calling! We don't need politicans, lawyers, ad men, managers, bankers, and various other useless eaters! Let them stay in the cities and die with the rest!

It is definitely fear mongering, but it is effective in making people give up their rights.

But it is also true that this stuff is not conspiracy theory. They always tell us what they are going to do before it happens. They put it in movies etc. So, Napolitano is telling us.

It might not be November but it will happen. This is an old one. People have been storing food for years now knowing about this event. They will use aliens, comets and all kind of baloney distractions to scare people.

On the fear mongering, we hear about this whistle blower regarding snooping on our phones, etc.

I think they really wanted us to know. He works for them most likely.

If you think the gov't is listening, many will shut up and not express their opinions.

If there is an EMP event, natural or otherwise, how would we find out which nuclear reactors have gone critical (need power and computers to run pumps)? I couldn't watch it on TV or hear it on the radio.. I guess they wouldn't tell us anyway?

The above article is not new, having been brought to public attention previously by various scientists and NOAA reports. This does not qualify as fear-mongering because it is dealing primarily with a natural phenomena that occurs in cycles, but prior to electricity has not greatly affected mankind. However, intense and gigantic solar storms which occur several thousand years apart have caused damage on the earth and in the atmosphere per studies on ice core samples and such. The US is behind other countries in hardening the main grid structures, and judging by comments above, most people haven't a clue about hardening their own electronics and vehicles at home. Would you rather not be told and lose all your electronics, as well as deal with entire systems offline? Remember boy scout and girl scout motto's :"Be Prepared!" or is that too fear-mongering now?

We need to tax the hell out of the rich a-holes to fund these improvements as well as loosen business regulations to encourage business growth in the US.

George Bush's tax cuts actually did work as it delayed the economic crash but the Democrats blocked a lot of the stuff Bush wanted to do so we only got partial results.

We need to do that again to fund infrastructure projects.

During the Bushonomics tax cut era there was actually a record number of construction permits and houses were going up like crazy. Even though the houses were ugly as all gets out at least people had jobs.

It was essentially a short boom.

BEEP BEEP BEEP. Have fun not being prepared for even a local long term power outage!

And you are going to need gas for WHAT? In the event of a severe EMP event, no car or generator with electronic ignition will run. EMP fries all transistors--even most clocks and pacemakers will stop. The few military vehicles hardened against EMP won't do much good either.

Remember, if your engine doesn't have ignition points it simply dies. No diode based lights either.

Xerxcez DeBolivar said...

EMP actually only fries electronics.....IF there is current flowing through them, at the time of the EMP pulse.

Basically, if your car ignition is off, only your battery should be toast...the car itself, should be fine.

The same principle applies to all electronic devices.
