DARPA Wants to Install Transcranial Ultrasonic Mind Control Devices in Soldiers' Helmets

Clay Dillow

DARPA has been trying to crawl inside the minds of soldiers for a while now, but a new ultrasound technology could let them get deeper inside than ever. Working under a DARPA grant, a researcher at Arizona State is developing transcranial pulsed ultrasound technology that could be implanted in troops’ battle helmets, allowing soldiers to manipulate brain functions to boost alertness, relieve stress, or even reduce the effects of traumatic brain injury.

Manipulating the brain to enhance warfighting capabilities and maintain mental acuity on the battlefield has long been a topic of interest for DARPA and various military research labs, but the technology to do so remains limited. Deep brain stimulation (DBS), for instance, requires surgically implanted electrodes to stimulate neural tissues, while less-invasive methods like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) possess limited reach and low spatial resolution.

But Dr. William J. Tyler, an assistant professor of life sciences at ASU, writes on the DoD’s “Armed With Science” blog: “To overcome the above limitations, my laboratory has engineered a novel technology which implements transcranial pulsed ultrasound to remotely and directly stimulate brain circuits without requiring surgery. Further, we have shown this ultrasonic neuromodulation approach confers a spatial resolution approximately five times greater than TMS and can exert its effects upon subcortical brain circuits deep within the brain.”
Tyler’s technology, packaged in a warfighter’s helmet, would allow soldiers to flip a switch to stimulate different regions of their brains, helping them relieve battle stress when it’s time to get some rest, or to boost alertness during long periods without sleep. Grunts could even relieve pain from injuries or wounds without resorting to pharmaceutical drugs. More importantly, in the periods after brain trauma ultrasound technology could reduce swelling and metabolic damage that is often the root cause of lasting brain damage.

wow....such great technology for such a terrible objective. How better to kill, is that the question? How to get more "mileage" out of the soldier?

This is what rules our planet. War by conviction among the elitists that profit greatly with not a single obstacle in their path to wealth by destruction.

There is only one reason why their is no peace in the world. It is due to a very very small group of people that have gained an unyielding grasp on the power of governments and corporations. Complicity is at its best to serve these elitist scum.

Unfortunately, the people of this world are so simple-minded, and easily swayed via simple mind control techniques. What is of more concern to the average indoctrinated individual? A mosque being built in NYC? Homosexuals that want to live together? Idealistic nonsense spewed by either a Republican or Democrat? Oh...lest we forget the idolatry and hypnotizing television programs brought to you by your jewish friends in Hollywood. Where would we be without that facet in our lives?

I really can't answer that question since I put a sledge hammer through all my TVs several years ago.

Wake up americans. wake up world or there will be no world left to call home. Our lives are becoming worth less and less each day as the mockery of a "free" world is teased before us. "They" are here only to rule us, and to dispose of us when they finished with their goals.

The time is quickly approaching when many will be lost to the implementation of their final objectives. Its happening already...all around you. Wake up!!

And what perhaps no one has considered is an after-effect. We already see that soldiers of this present "war on terror" return home with lifelong trauma. Now imagine that pain, exhaustion, and negative emotion are repressed for a person's term of service, then he or she is sent home. Would it just be "wow, glad to be back in my home world and not have felt suffering from all of that turmoil thanks to my handy dandy helmet" OR would all of that have been stored in subconscious and come erupting out many times worse than ever thought?

Ease pain at the click of a button? Ease depression all the same? Thinking. Can somebody say compulsive addiction?

Look what happened in Vietnam - drugs were an escape, and the massive use of them in operational theatres spilled over into civilian life later.

What would these soldiers do to quench their addiction once they got back home and had their helmet taken from them?

Something like this could become another drug. Commercially sold and legalised, it could be the self-administered pacification of the masses. I guess at least we won't be doing it with drugs and alcohol?

Wouldn't it be easier just to eliminate war?

Thanks activist post for all of these articles which are so advanced in the field of technology sciences and brain/mind/behavior.Whats weird is tens of thousands of innocent citizens in this country and others have been describing(somehow)these very concepts and how we have been human lab rats/guinnie pigs-you know tin foil hat people.Well maybe now my mom wont call me paranoid schizophrenic and mentally ill.We targeted individuals should be taken serious because all these technologies are being used on the innocent populace. Some more than others.
