Man Arrested For Holding “Impeach Obama” Sign

Note:  It is an absolute disgrace what the police and private security forces have become in the United States.  Their brutality is escalating, and no one is immune as this video shows.  A veteran exercising his free speech has no rights in America.  For anyone who believes that this is acceptable because he is hurling an insult at the president, I would remind you that the president is not the government; the people are the government.  If this type of free speech is restricted today -- and you agree with it -- your free speech will be eliminated tomorrow.  -- Michael Edwards

This first day of the 2010 Alaska State Fair starts with sunny skies and a brutal assault by security personnel on a LaRouche supporter.

At about 5pm Alaska Time, Thursday, August 26, 2010, security personnel approach Sidney Hill, a lone man peacefully displaying an impeach Obama sign near Pioneer Plaza on the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer. Minutes later, a crowd assembles, additional security forces arrive, and they physically assault the man holding the sign. He’s taken to the ground with force and detained.

An unidentified Alaska State Trooper arrives to physically disperse the crowd, and at several points during the conflict, crowd members yell in support of the demonstrator’s right to speak his message. The demonstrator’s personal firearm is confiscated by fair security, and he is held captive until Palmer police arrive to escort the man away in cuffs.

Sidney Hill was in jail awaiting a pre-trial at 1:00 pm on August 27, 2010 at the Palmer Courthouse. He has been charged with Assault 4-Cause Fear Of Injury, Disorderly Conduct-Challenge To Fight, and Criminal Trespass 2- Upon Premises. However, according to the Valley Frontiersman newspaper, “Assistant District Attorney Trina Sears said her office decided not to prosecute Hill on the assault charge.”

fucking coward americans. An old man assaulted in public, and most people think its a joke. This country is full of cowards. A bunch of passive, ignorant and selfish people that will ultimately receive their just reward.

I wonder how many were christians? How many went to church to espouse helping others, the poor, and the needy. Bunch of hypocrites. We are surrounded by hypocrites, cowards and selfish people.

Yes I;m angry. Next time that happens people need to congregate, and yell, and display civil disobediance. And cause a greater burden on these so-called civil servants. Look how they treat us? AND VERY FEW GET UPSET

WTF IS WRONG WITH AMERICANS. STICK YOUR FINGER DOWN YOUR THROAT AND VOMIT UP THAT BIG MAC AND DIET COKE. TURN OFF THE AMERICAN IDOL. STOP POLISHING/WORSHIPPING YOUR CAR.

Payback is a bitch. I can only hope that karma catches up to you all for your selfishness, ignorance and complete lack of regard for human rights.

on second thought....just refuse to attend these so-called "state" events since they are on private property (purposely). They know damn well what they are doing, and how then can control faux public events.

Its all about money...no doubt. Why would a state fair be such a big deal anyway? the gov officials are mostly crooks just like washington. What is there to celebrate there?

Activist said...

Believe me, I feel your anger. This one really got to me, because it just goes to the heart of all that is going wrong right now. The police should have stood by him to PROTECT him, not abuse him. They swore an oath to protect us, not the puppet president. Worse, is that he is a Vet who fought for the very rights they are taking away. I'm happy that some people in the crowd supported him, but anyone who didn't makes me physically nauseated. -- Michael Edwards

Activist said...

I guess I should have more clearly distinguished between police and private security. It is the private security thugs that actually did the abusing. The police have supported it by arresting this guy. Probably should have arrested the private security, too, and let a judge figure it out.

Well, Holocaust, Paul Craig Roberts did say it was the "Nazification of America." It starts with the suppression of dissent. And, as he mentioned, "it doesn't stop." Everyone seems to have their favorite Amendment, but the right to freely express thought -- just giving voice to your thoughts and beliefs -- is so fundamentally non-violent, innate, creative, and unique --that to criminalize it is a statement of the intent of the government to enslave the population. It must be resisted. Once they have our minds, there is no turning back. -- Michael Edwards

The really sad thing for me is that so many people just stood around and did nothing to help this disabled vet and that includes that state trooper. It's time to give up the ruse that we the people are free. All that changed when the government became a corporation. That state trooper flashed his badge and ID and then stood around protecting the corporation. Shameful. But, then again, you have this identity video.

Activist said...

Yes, Tede, that's right. People just stood around. I'm not suggesting that people should have assaulted the private security, but they could have surrounded them and demanded that the man be released. It's the same as if you are walking down the street and see someone assaulted -- any decent person should go to their rescue. But a couple of fake private security badges and now their gods. -- M.E.

Unlike Hitler's death camps the US led peace scam has lulled the Jews to sleep before the coming slaughter.
The only difference between the Road Map and Iran's approach is implementation speed.

Here is prima facie evidence that the US agenda is not peace for Israel but it's methodical extermination under the lie of peace.
If the US were truly concerned about obstacles to peace it's complete focus would be on removing Hamas from Gaza the real obstacle to peace, not homes with Jews in them.
As we see, the US focus is always on Jewish home builder never on Hamas except to strengthen them.
That is all the evidence which is needed to convict the refined Nazis and their cleaned up version of Hitler's Final Solution.
What is inexplicable is how the Jews are once again under a spell of in-action as they allow Hitler wrapped in an America flag to drive them into the new death camps as he sings songs of peace to them ?

This is an outright display of our rights to free speech being taken away! Why wasn't it on national news? Because the media are in on the taking away of the rights of the general public!!! However, the joke will be on them if this type of restriction is allowed to continue.

Absolutely unbelievable, it will be very interesting to see what comes of this. I hope that he sues the Ass off of the security agency that these clowns work for as well as the "supposed" State cop that did nothing to help this man! What a disgrace and loss of our freedoms!

That's right Suzan. But now this video is getting posted everywhere. Send it to everyone you know. I don't even care if it's the version with my comments. We need to do the job the mainstream media should have been doing. Good people know when they see brutality, and they know the truth. These are the people we need to alert. Free speech is one issue here; the other is simple humanity. A disabled vet with a crutch in his hand was taken to the ground like he was a real threat. It's nonsense and it cannot be allowed to continue. Thank you for visiting us. -- Michael Edwards

pa1ntball3r4lif3 -- Couldn't agree more. The good news is that 99% of these police brutality/private security brutality arrests result in dropped charges. But we need more; we need these bums to lose their jobs, at least. In this case, it was assault. It was the same as you or me just going up to someone on the street and tackling them. This video really has people angry; let's send it out far and wide and show people the path we are heading down if we don't get these thugs under control. Thanks for visiting -- Michael Edwards

Why is it that the policemen involved in this illegal arrest are not charged? Is it not the right of the public to press charges against erring servants of the public? The government prosecutor should be pressed by the public to press charges against such abuse of rights of the citizens in violation of our Constitution.

I'd LOVE to be on THAT jury.

Activist said...

Sunshine Kid -- interesting note. There has been a lot of debate on the different sites about what happened here. I took a human, visceral, reaction when I saw a disabled vet obviously abused (with the likelihood that his right to free speech was violated as well). I've seen comments on both sides about the legal issues. Like all legal issues, there is a lot that is open to interpretation. One thing that seems crystal clear to me is that a guy holding a sign and a crutch was manhandled and wrestled to the ground. The whole incident was excessive -- that is my point in commenting about the increasing number of violent police/security confrontations over non-violent situations. Thank you very much for posting -- Michael Edwards

This man was disabled for pete's sake. He wasn't hurting anyone and he certainly was NOT breaking the law. There was no need for "Paul Blart" mall cop to become aggressive. Obviously these security guards were counting on the people being passive and they were right. Only one woman came to this man's aid to give him water. There is no honor in arresting a disabled man for protesting peacefully. Are Americans so far gone that they can't stand together peacefully and against the violence that was being hurled upon this man? Apparently, they would rather stand around gawking at this man being forceably detained for no good reason. This is rule by fear and it worked. If Americans don't unite, we are going to see more and more of this aggressive behavior by security guards that don't have the ability to think rationally. We cannot accept this behavior. If we do, we will lose our right to free speech. Passivity in this case will be construed as acceptance by those at the top which is precisely what they want. Score 1 for the Hiearchy; Score 0 for the People! What a sad day for America.

So where is the footage that has been edited out between the first cut? He clearly wasnt arrested for holding a sign. Something happened....what was it? No one gets put in handcuffs for holding an impeach Obama sign, regardless of how misguided said sign may be.

Is this fair on public or private property? If it's on private property then security has every right to ask the man to put away his sign or to leave. I'm quite sure that the promoters would rather not have protesters, from either side, displaying signs at the fair....it's bad for business.

Activist said...

Toolhush. There are a few issues here, in my view: One is free speech. We can only speculate whether his message really was what brought this about. The second issue is just human decency. I have not read any report that said he acted violently toward security -- yes, he was shouting and defending what he believed to be a violation, but this type of violent confrontation over a non-violent offense should be condemned. The private property issue has been hashed out in many forums that I have seen. Very good points on both sides. Certainly worth investigating some more. But, again, this was pretty thuggish behavior and seems quite excessive for the supposed infraction. Thanks for the input -- M.E.

There are several issues here;
A. Facts
1. I heard the 'security' guy say 'State Police' when addressing a protester, yet he wore no badge or State Pol uniform.
2. I also heard the 'security' guy say 'you didn't pay to get in here'

B. Comments;
1.The protester (whether he paid or not) was wrong for violating the property rights of whomever owned or leased the fair property for the event(including the State Govt). You can't go into someone's house, a meeting room (even if a member of event held in the room), the city hall, or a fair and interfere with what the owner is doing, and then claim 'free speech'. Property rights are fundamental, and superior to personal rights, as witnessed by the above example and on my site Forward-USA.org.
2. the police should wear badges. They should ID themselves if asked (no secret police). One cop should not have held his elbow on the protesters neck; excess force, but they love it.

3. Reminds me of Minneapolis cops at oct-2009 GOP convention.

4. Does AK require that police be fat ??

as a veteran of this country, i am appalled at the people that we protect. This gentleman was not only a veteran, but he was disabled. Who better to speak his mind about a country he fought so bravely for? Am i to assume that if i say something that the government doesnt like that I get the same treatment? That poor guy was probably spit on when he came back from VietNam, and called all kinds of names and yet he remains a patriot in spite of all this. This is the people that we go and die for? I am deeply saddened that a so called "State Cop" who by the way never showed his BADGE, just flipped open a wallet.... can i flip open my wallet and arrest Obama? I doubt it. The security guys in this video need a good home style ass whooping, treating a person that fought for THIER rights as Americans like this. Bring your punk security guys here to Texas and let US show you the same hospitality!
Personally, being a vet and if I was there watching all this, I am afraid I would be arrested as well for assaulting the security people for thier treatment of that Vet. A very sad day for Americans, and a disgrace to the State of Alaska, as if their governor isnt bad enough. HOW DARE YOU DISGRACE US ALL!!!

AMERICANS FOR HONEST GOVERNMENT

AUGUST, 31st 2010

Open letter to Obama and the corrupt politicians of this Unite States.

The Government Exists for the Sole Purpose of Serving the People, not Ruling the People
The Declaration of Independence establishes the supremacy of the People and the Right and Duty to defend the Rights of the People over the Acts of the Government
On July 4th 1776 the Second Continental Congress, representing the 13 states unanimously issued the Declaration of Independence. This document was the official notice given to the King of England that the 13 states were separating themselves from the Crown in order to form a government of the People. The Declaration of Independence is an important document and in many ways is as important as the Constitution. The Constitution is the document that establishes a government of the People by the People, and for the People. The Declaration of Independence is the document that establishes the supremacy of the People over the Government and establishes the Right and the Duty of the People "to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security."
Our Constitution provides for as many protections as possible to ensure that the Government is subservient to the People and only exists for the purpose of serving the People. However, should these protections fail it is up to the People to rise up against the Government and to put the Government back in it's place. In this capacity, the People have the responsibility to act to defend themselves and take control to override this corrupt administration legislations and decisions that violate the Fundamental Rights of the People to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
When the Government violates the Constitution, it is the duty of the People to rise up against the Government to bring the Government into compliance with the Constitution.
It is clear that Obama, Eric Holder, the US Department of Justice, Janet Napolitano, ICE and the corrupt politicians of this Unite States, void our constitution, our sovereignty, pass legislations in violation of our constitution and refused to protect and defend the rights of the people to be secure on their homes and their communities, the Obama administration is guilty of aiding and abiding the invasion of the United States by Mexicans and other nationals illegal aliens, pass legislations that worses this economic catastrophe and increased our national debt; this administration is a dictatorship type of Government that voided the will of the people.
We the people must exercise our authority over this Government, this Government resist and voided the Will of the People. We the people In defense of our constitutional rights, must declare war on the Government; the Right and the Duty to overthrow the Government in order to restore the United States as a government to serve the People is clearly established in our constitution.
The preservation of our constitutional rights and freedom depends on us, we the people, must reestablish the supremacy of the Will of the People over the interests of this corrupt Government.

Fellow Americans, please take few minutes and send this to all your contacts, we must take our country back. Obama and our representatives, state and federal must know; that we are not going to take it any more, the politicians must hear our voice.
to avoid a Revolution.

The best way to demonstrate actively with a legal firm stand is for observers to put up many similar hand written signs around the scene right away. If 50 signs would go up, the security/cops would back off and disappear from the public eye because of the cameras and witnesses. It would be similar to shining a light on cockroaches and see them scatter!

Activist said...

Great comments everyone, and thank you for keeping this issue alive.

To LWR -- I just don't believe that a violent response to violence ever works. Beating these security cops to a pulp, as you suggest, would assure an escalated reaction . . . and so on, and on, and on. That is why I was suggesting a demand by the crowd that the private security thugs cease their outright abuse. If not, they should be detained until "real" police arrive. At least there, we can get into a court of law where, presumably, there is a chance at justice. There is NO chance at justice if any rent-a-cop can pummel a disabled vet holding a crutch and a sign while people just stand by. MInd you, this type of demonstration of the power of the people takes EXTREME restraint and discipline. Perhaps I'm an idealist in believing it is even possible. -- M.E.

I wonder if anything would have happened to this individual if he had been anyone other than a Caucasian American. Can we expect Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to show up on the court house steps to support this gentleman's right to speak freely?

One day I pray the pain will be so great in this country that we will reach a tipping point and perhaps then Americans will wake up and DEFEND their nation and the citizens of this country. I swore an oath in the military to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. Those enemies are now the very people who are supposed to protect and serve. I think God this generation did not have to fight the Revolution or we would still be British.

This is either staged or completely mis-labeled. We have a guy supposedly being arrested for "exercising free speech" while someone with a camera is allowed to follow around these security guys and the protester getting "extreme close-ups". The video is surprisingly smooth.

It's pretty obvious that free speech wasn't the issue here. These security guys had no problem with a camera in their face and having the entire incident captured for the world to see. In other words, they figured they were in the right. That old guy with the sign probably snuck in without paying, was confronted about it, and then turned the issue into one of "free speech".

Storm: Had that been here in Texas. You would have seen a redneck revival uprising that would have made "deliverance" look like a girl scout outing on sunshine river. What a disgrace! What an insult to basic human rights! Forget private property..blah, blah. blah. These security people used excessive force that was totally unessecary. It's an insult to the Declaration of Independence and shows the decline in our society for tolerance of different ideas and beliefs. The majority of Americans have become passive, uncaring puppets. That man was treated like a mud puddle that people were going around or jumping over. Shame on them! It would only have taken one reasonable person to become a mediator and diffuse this situation. That should have been the security people. But in my opiion they were more about agitating this man and escalating the situation. I am unmoved by the charges against this man, they are frivolous and just for show. I bet theses charges will be silently dropped and the police will have no comment in the end. I belive this is why this incident was not more publisized. It's been kept as quiet as possible because it's such a disgrace. Even though most of the crowd did nothing, there were a lot of cameras and video going. This shows that people knew an injustice was going on right in front of them. I'm thankful for those people and the young lady who gave the man her water. She showed the courage that we should all have.

To relate a story:

At age ten I would wait with my friends at a school bus stop that was also for the city bus, which usually came earlier. Everyday a young man with Downs syndrome, with lunch pale and dress clothes ready, would wait for the city bus. We paid him no attention. One day after being dropped off from school and starting for home I saw him waiting, this time for the afternoon bus. A group of 18-somethings were nearby screwing around. A minute or so later I saw them approach the young man, teasing him, saying mean things and even asking him to hold out his hand, which he did, and burned him with a cigarette [this is not a joke, it really happened]. I was so angry, I ran back and told them to F*** off, stop bullying him and get out of here! Well, they looked startled for a moment, laughed it off and walked away. And I waited until he got on the bus to make sure he was ok.
Now, if I can stand up to a group of people 3 times my size at 10 years old without regard to my personal safety, to help out a person in distress, then ANY adult can do the same; whether it is a police officer intimidating another or some random stranger. There is no excuse for failure to act. Righteous anger is ok when it is acting against injustice. Do not fear anyone, it is unbecoming of humanity.

I don't have the speed to view this video, but I want to add my 2 cents about what kind of police we have in the U.S. today.

Our local cops do not serve our Constitutions, federal or state. The American police were "reinvented" in 1994. We now have communitarian "community" police. Community police serve the interests of the community that hold the power, they "balance" the Rights of Individuals against the rights of their elitist community. Police are now what communitarian experts call "social resources," designed primarily to "shore up" the moral and political arena in America. And, as far as the communitarians are concerned (Bush, Clinton, Obama, McCain, Palin, et. al.) this shoring up is a done deal.

Look up Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). Look up Henry Tam in the UK. Then you'll begin to understand why globalized American police are being trained in Israel, the "Harvard of anti-terrorism."

P.S. The new COPS' database of our private info (called COMPASS) was gathering all sources of data on us back in 1999. What do you think your communitarian government plans to do with all that new data coming out of the Smart Grid?

Come on people! I do not like Obama either, BUT, the man was not displaying his sign properly. If he has something to say, he should have obtained a permit to do so, like all vendors at the fair must do. Otherwise, the KKK, skinheads, anyone with a "cause" could walk around carrying signs. Then what fun would the fair be then? He was drawing a crowd and it was up to police to see that things stayed orderly. The fair is a family event - not a political one. There is a time and place for things like this.

Stephen A. Kovach said...

It is 'completely' acceptable. He was carrying a concealed weapon (a loaded handgun in his pocket). The First Amendment allows for freedom of assembly and free speech, provided it is void of physical threat. In addition, he was on private property. He was not protesting on federal land. The tenets of political freedom, as it pertains to free speech, apply to events that occur on publicly owned land. The Alaska State Fairground is a nonprofit organization that owns the land on which this event occurred. Thus, it has the right to manage and regulate conduct on its property. This includes the regulation of solicitation, advertising, and other types of signs and materials. The police acted in accordance with the Due Process principle of the Fourteenth Amendment, which requires the State and its representatives (i.e. the Alaskan Police) to respect all legal rights owed to a person according to the law. That this event occurred on private property indicates that the police acted appropriately.

will this man, that sits in the oval office, have the courage to stand up for this man's rights? or was the sigh, in the man's hand, telling us the true story.

Even worse, everyone is missing the "forest because of the trees." It isn't Democrats vs Repubs we have to worry about - it's the hidden agenda politicians. We're being slowly herded into communism/Marxism - losing our rights and losing the American way of life - no chance of ever bettering ourselves for our descendents, as our grandparents did - and slowly being pushed into the poverty and depression of a third world country. And anybody who is so brainwashed as to think communism/Marxism is good for the poor and downtrodden, please read your history books on Russia. The only ones rich and happy were the people in control, the common people were all poverty stricken, starving, and in rags. And anyone daring to go against their system was just locked away in jails, and asylums - read the Russian authors - they speak the truth. Our radical politicans have been gradually getting us under control for the past 20 years by aiding in the brainwashing of our kids in the schools - starting with the colleges and gradually right into our babies' classrooms, teaching them that "service" jobs are the way to go, that goals of becoming wealthy are obscene and arrogant. The hidden agenda people want our country integrated into global governance. They want global government in order to gain control of the world's wealth -which will be distributed to the ones with political power, ie, international banking houses, and the politicians they control. "He who controls the money, controls the world." And our prez has been campaigning for leader of the world government since he got in - that famous bow to the arabs. Has anybody at all noticed that he doesn't call himself President, only Commander in Chief? Global governance will make all individual country leaders - presidents/kings etc, into military commanders in chief and only the World Government leader will be termed President. And all this leads to the fact everyone has to wake up and grow up - stop deadening our faculties with drugs/alcohol. The self-gratified/pleasured/mind deadening life is being aimed at our young for a reason. Start fighting back with your ballots, and alert brains - learn how to make inroads LEGALLY! into the various systems gaining control over us - and take back control of the country that our ancestors worked so hard to give us. There's been a lot of hidden agenda going on in this country until now and despite people finally catching on, that hidden agenda is gradually coming into place. They brought Acorn into being to take away our ballots and were caught, but Acorn went undercover and split up with new names, new leaders so they'll still have a chance to upset the next elections. I see all this through experienced eyes - I'm 75 years old. If people don't start learning through history, and taking note on which politicians are for what, and vote the radicals out, they're going to lose control of their lives" -- Toby

"I learned everything I ever need to know about Muslims and Islam on 911."

Wow... I think this statement takes the cake for the most ignorant thing I've ever read in my entire life. Unfortunately I think he's serious.

I could just as easily say the following:

"I learned everything I need to know about Christianity from the Crusades."

or

"I learned everything I need to know about Christianity in Oklahoma City (yeah, Timothy McVeigh was a devout Christian)"

or

"I learned everything I need to know about Christianity from Mel Gibson."

Willful ignorance is a plague in the US, and the problem seems to be growing. People make statements like the above and are proud about it. You cant take the actions of an insane person and apply them to an entire group of people, it's flat out wrong.

People doing so in regards to Muslims are content to ignore all the Christian murderers out there, as none of what they do applies to the rest of the Christians. The rules only work that way for Muslims right...

It's this mindset of proud willful ignorance that's dumbing down everyone in the US. I'm ashamed and embarrassed to be an American when I read things like that.

People weren't arrested when they had bad things to say about other Presidents so why Odumba? It makes me sick! Change? Is this the kind of change America wants? This should have made it to ABC, NBC, CBS & others. I cannot say enough about this disgrace!!!!!

I, as a former PO am ashamed of the profession if in fact those two oversized piece of beef are police. Their actions, taken by themself or through a policy they were instructed to follow is WRONG. At the beginning of the video it appeared to me to be peaceful with a sign. As he said it is free speech. It was violated as well as his right to peacefully protest. It escalated when the two put hands on the protester. The sign was fine with (to me)the exception of the photo with the Hitler mustache. The so called state trooper with the backpack appeared to be just a visitor to the fair and got involved showing a wallet to a spectator. If he was further involved he should've placed the ID or badge clearly on display. He refused to give his badge numbe when asked for it by a bystander. WRONG thing to do. This idiot was being video taped and should've complied to cover his tail. Not doing so could've got him a few days off without pay here in Mass. The protestor was sat upon by the two 250lb. pieces of gristle and held down for an unreasonable amount of time then placed on the table to sit. The crowd was correct in not getting involved. This entire senario was video taped. That would be enough to show the problem and where we've come in the last 18 months. If the crown became unruy or even riotous it would've shown they (security) was right in doing what they did. Our right to protest was violated that day. Not only his but our especially those attempting to reason with the security force. That day at that time we lost. At the DA's office we won. Now a civil rights voilation action should be filed.

Guys don't jump down my throat, I'm as upset as anyone here. But as a former PO, Vietnam Vet, and an old guy, I've learned that there are always two sides to everything. After watching the clip I am pretty upset, and will stay that way until I hear what Sidney Hill is charged with.

If in fact he was taken down because of the sign itself we are in a world of hurt. If the State Fair had an ordnance in place that "forbid" political signs or signs of any type on the fair grounds, then I won't be quite so upset. We still are a nation of laws, and I hope we continue to be.

Does anyone know for sure that this guy was arrested because of the sign and what it said? Or in other words is this really an attack on "free speech?"

I didn't see any other person holding a sign, and the guy had a video camera recording the hold thing, which seems a bit convenient, is why I'm asking. It may have been a setup from the start.

Arlie said...

Why he was arrested was because security thought he might incite a riot. If security had left him alone, nobody would have paid any attention to him. Security hassling the guy caused the crowd to gather.

If this man had a sign with a pro-gay message or a anti-Bush message, nothing would be said because they are 'politically correct'! Had it been a pro-muslim protest, they would have been protected...not arrested. If it had been anti-American, again they would 'protect their right to protest'. What do our government officials have to say about this?

No one can say it better than Harold Estes. A true American! If you'd like to see his picture, go to snopes.com/politics/soapbox/haroldestes.asp

Here's what he has to say:

Deborah said...

Dear President Obama,
My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.
One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.
So here goes.
I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.
I can’t figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
“We’re no longer a Christian nation”
“America is arrogant” - (Your wife even announced to the world, “America is mean-spirited.” Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)
I’d say shame on the both of you but I don’t think you like America nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.
After 9/11 you said, “American hasn’t lived up to her ideals.” Which ones did you mean?
1. Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British?
2. Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War?
3. I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellahs I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around because we stand for freedom.
4. I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.
Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.
And just who do you think you are telling American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.
One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.
You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
You’re not going to restore American greatness by brining back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.
Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

For whatever reason my last statement wasn’t posted. But I’ve reiterated…Bottom line is most of you (myself NOT included) voted this president in office instead of a war hero. Guess what…You asked for it!! Do you remember when Obama stated that “we’re no longer a Christian nation”? Or how about his statement that “America is arrogant”? His wife even announced to the world, “America is mean-spirited.” Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness. Obama was elected to lead and not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves. I dislike Obama and I'm all for free speech, but this just didn't pass the smell test. A Nexis/Lexux search yielded what was probably closer to the truth.

It turns out that this was on private property and therefore a commercial operation. If Mr. Hill protested outside the gate on public property and this had happened, then there is a legitimate free speech issue. As long as he did not impede the movement of other people on public property, he has the absolute right to speak his mind. The Constitution does not, however, give anyone the right to be an obnoxious jerk on private property.

Watch the video's beginning. The security guard is speaking calming to this man and you will here him inform Mr. Hill that this is private property, but he's not listening. Later, a bystander says "this is public property", but the old man with the white beard says: "No, no it's not." The well-meaning bystanders are being duped by Mr. Hill's passion, while being ignorant of private property rights.

This is the kind of disinformation I hate, on both left and right. It's really meant to foment anger and to get people all pissed off at one another over a completely false issue. Today, we see it with the Mosque at ground zero. Same populist bullshit, different day. Stop being a tool.

To David X Johnson: The point about legality might be conceded. And your point about the "tools" both left and right is well taken. Yet, what about the human aspect? It is not "passion" to assert that excessive force is being used here -- it is obvious. Let's say that Sidney Hill does not have free speech in this particular place at this particular time. Are you suggesting that a vet with a crutch be wrestled to the ground, sat upon, and degraded by private security forces? For what, exactly? Hate speech is, outside the law, any communication which disparages a person or a group on the basis of some characteristic such as race or sexual orientation.[1][2] In law, hate speech is any speech, gesture or conduct, writing, or display which is forbidden because it may incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a protected individual or group. The law may identify a protected individual or a protected group by race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or other characteristic.[3] In some countries, a victim of hate speech may seek redress under civil law, criminal law, or both.

Critics have claimed that the term "Hate Speech" is a modern example of Newspeak, used to silence critics of social policies that have been poorly implemented in a rush to appear politically correct.[4][5][6]

A website that uses hate speech is called a hate site. Most of these sites contain Internet forums and news briefs that emphasize a particular viewpoint. There has been debate over how freedom of speech applies to the Internet. Conferences concerning such sites have been sponsored by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

MISTERY MAN said...

Freedom of speech applies to The United States of America. I once thought that Alaska was one of the United States. Clearly this performance demonstrates that it is not. Relative to the Muslim issue Obama is a Muslim or he would not have been allowed into a mosque much less to pray in one. I have lived with these people and built a mosque on the site of a major Oil company. I was not allowed to enter the prayer room while it was under construction much less when it was completed.

As Americans you are each being misled if you believe what you are being told. Please understand that the Muslim religious commitment is to kill all infidels. An infidel is one who does not follow Mohammad's teachings. Are you an infidel? Think about that.
One other point Mosques are built at the sites of their victories. Does that tell you why they want to built one on ground zero. DUH

We the people, need to exercise our right to vote. Let the chips fall where they may and may the best solution win. But under no circumstances will it be tolerated to have voter fraud or intimation. Are you aware that change in the elected officials also brings a change in how big we want our government to be. Force will be met by force and our force will be the ELECTED SHERIFF and he will be notified and should have undercover deputies on duty. Also correct me if I am wrong I believe that congress can impeach a judge (federal). More to follow

David said...

Man, the ignorance on this board is comical. This is in no way, shape, or form a free speech / 1st amendment issue. Our Constitution provides that the government cannot prevent or limit (except in very rare circumstances) free expression of speech. Private enterprises, however, most certainly can restrict the type and methods of speech at their businesses.

In this case, a man was attending a function put on by a private corporation (Alaska State Fair, Inc) on private property. He decided to put on a political demonstration. It is absolutely within the right of the Alaska State Fair, Inc to ask him to cease with that type of speech, leave because of it, etc. This is completely and 100% analogous to him putting on a political demonstration inside a McDonalds, a grocery store, the mall, etc, etc, etc. This man has no right to harass patrons at this place of business.

The real victim here is the Alaska State Fair, Inc. corporation. I hope they sue the pants off this idiot for any loss of business due to his violation the corporation's right to conduct business.

Although I agree with this guy's message and also agree that our rights are being eliminated and trampled on by this oddministration, this episode is being mislabled or misconstrued as "private security thugs" assaulting someone because of his beliefs. The private security officers are merely doing the job they are hired to do, which is to protect the private property they are assigned to. Like I said, I believe 100% in the message here and the messengers, but let's not turn on each other to prove a point. There are absolutely legal, accepted ways to get the message out. This is the equivalent of an obama supporter coming onto your property and posting up his/her signs and attempting to get others to support him. Would you want to allow this on your property? I think not. We all have the right to free speech! Yes! We all have the right to protect our own private property! Yes. We shouldn't be so eager to demand the defense of one right while surrendering another!! Think and be patient and logical before you let your emotions take over our rights. All rights are equal as well as people..

My question is this: how do we explain the young people's reactions in this video? Taking photos, laughing, all a joke. This is what seriously bothers me about the whole episode in addition to their ignorance at private property vs public location. I wonder what the youth in those moments learned from this?

I have to say that this situation was a sad one.
Even if the Protester was in the wrong with his sign at this place and time, there must be other ways to handle this. The Security did not appear to take great lengths to communicate and help him out. Even if the man misunderstood the law, it seems to me that more damage was done by manhandling the gentleman. What was the hurry, anyway? What if the Company had been gracious instead, considering the man's age, situation, and overlook it this once rather than make a scene? Then they could go proactive, have had an article printed in the local papers, use the situation to instruct the public, and even say that signs of any kind are not welcome. There must have been better ways to handle this violation of property rights. This situation was escalated by the Security and State Trooper (if indeed he was a trooper). However, IF the situation truly were a freedom of speech issue alone, then I would only hope more people would get involved. I was surprised that this was in Alaska as opposed to California. But better to have the facts then to react without them.

Unreal how some of the hatemongers in here use this vid as an excuse to attack Muslims. You people are spending way too much time listening to right wing propaganda of hate and fear. What a coincidence it comes just months before an election.
Joseph Goebbels would be proud. Want to manipulate the masses? Give them a common enemy. Now that we have scary Muslims, scary blacks at the voting sites, a scary socialist administration, etc, etc, there is plenty to be afraid of.
Please protect me before i get really, really scared and vote for a Republican. Now THAT is scary.

Check out the type of bullying called mobbing and gangstalking and the cops are doing that, too, and they are bullying, harassing and abusing a lot of us. They get away with it. They all stick together. The cops harassed a man for taking a walk around the block. Asked him where he worked, when he said he was retired, they said oh so you are unemployed. Asked him for his identification, he told them he was just out for a walk and didn't bring his wallet, they said oh so you are a vagrant, you are an unemployed vagrant. This man is a retired research chemist and owns a million dollar home. One Sunday morning at 8am he was walking past a school and the cops accused him of molesting school children and there is no school on Sunday and he didn't see anyone except for the cop. My neighbor moved my survey stakes and the cops stuck up for him and said he didn't move my stakes. They stick up for all the rats and pick on the innocent people who do nothing wrong.

Freedom to protest requires a permit the last time I checked and can involve a small fee. I agree that they over reacted; however, these freedoms that you all believe are individual rights have been interprated as collective freedoms and there are steps that have to be taken. If it was a paid event and he had not paid to get in then he was wrong. If he wanted to protest then he is intitled to his freedom of speech; but the right to free speech does not over ride his obligation to abide by all of the laws of both the state he protests in and those that have been interprated by the U.S. Supreme Court. The charges were dropped and nothing came of either side of this. Leads me to believe that he had not done everything that he needed to be heard leagally.

I also am a retired army enlisted soldier who does not agree with everything that Obama stands for, but lets be real. the majority of the mindless robots that vote, elected him because they were trying to elect history on the promise of hope and change. They got what they asked for and they are too stupid and proud to admint they made a mistake. We have never removed a sitting president even when they have violated the law. It is not going to happen because one individual puts up a sign. Let's vote him out and do it the right way.
