“Tar and Feathers”

Eleven died when the well blew
Off the coast of Louisiana
they were pumping black crude
Off the coast of Louisiana

Black gold pouring into the sea
Off the coast of Louisiana
“Not to worry” said the man from BP
What’s next for Louisiana?

Please help us Mr. President
The fish and fowl are dying
What’s the message being sent?
Helpless nation crying

They say we need the gasoline
What happened to going green?
It’s all for the machines
Look at the water, see the sheen

Save our Gulf, say no to oil
We can do it if we pull together
Look at it now it’s all been soiled
Water boiled, fish, tar and feathers

Topkill and junk shots
By the BP hotshots
Maybe we should
Tar and feather

No more crab, no more fish
The men have lost their heritage
For generations they’ve filled the dish
Say goodbye sons to your heritage

Big oil profits off you and me
Deep water plumes, toxic fumes
Darker turns the sea
They can’t wait to resume

The boys in the band
They got the upper hand
No more toes in the sand
Let’s take a stand

Waiting on relief wells
Toxic waves lap the shore
Meanwhile anger swells
Let’s all yell “Nevermore, Nevermore”

Save our Gulf, say no to oil
We can do it if we pull together
Look at it now it’s all been soiled
Water boiled, fish, tar and feathers
