US Colonel Sacked by DoD for Echoing America’s Discontent Over US-Israel Backing
Colonel Nathan McCormack, a Pentagon official, was dismissed from his role at the Joint Chiefs of Staff due to social media posts in which he labeled Israel a “death cult,” and described Netanyahu and his administration as “Judeo-supremacist cronies,” and raised doubts about whether the United States is genuinely acting as a proxy for Israel. At the time of his removal, McCormack held the position of chief of the Levant and Egypt branch within the J5 planning directorate of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The Department of Defense has confirmed the termination of U.S. Army Colonel Nathan McCormack from his advisory role and position concerning Israel. The DOD indicated that his opinions do not represent the positions of the Joint Staff or the Pentagon, and in the wake of this announcement, McCormack’s social media account was removed. Since joining the J5 in June 2024, McCormack had been active on social media, particularly following the Hamas attack on October 7. Operating under the alias “Nate,” he frequently referenced his military background and even posted a picture of his Meritorious Service Medal certificate. In April, McCormack expressed concerns about the priorities of U.S. foreign policy and posted on his X account.
“The Western states go to great lengths to avoid criticism of Israel, much out of Holocaust guilt.”
“I have recently been considering whether we might be a representative of Israel and have not realised it.”
“Our worst ‘ally.’ We get literally nothing out of the ‘partnership’ other than the enmity of millions of people in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.”
In May, he also wrote,
“Netanyahu and his Judeo-supremacist cronies are determined to prolong the conflict for their own goals: either to remain in power or to annex the land.”
Although the US media labels Col McCormack as ‘antisemitic’ and a deviation from military norms, Nathan’s views reflect a growing sentiment in American public opinion. Sadly, it is to be anticipated that the Trump administration will go to great lengths to hide the rising discontent with the steadfast US backing of Israel’s illegal activities in Gaza and Trump’s stance against Iran.
McCormack could be just the visible part of a much larger wave of dissatisfaction brewing within the US military leadership and the MAGA crowd.

Pentagon officer removed over anti-Israel posts, internal probe launched
Col. Nathan McCormack under investigation after social media posts called Israel the US ‘worst ally’ and accused Washington of enabling ‘ethnic cleansing’
The Pentagon has removed a senior officer from his post and launched an internal probe following the emergence of inflammatory social media posts criticising Israel and US policy in the Middle East.
Col. Nathan McCormack, who had been serving as the Levant and Egypt branch chief within the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s J5 strategic planning directorate, is at the center of the controversy.
The move came shortly after the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) reported Tuesday on a semi-anonymous X account allegedly linked to McCormack, which included remarks describing Israel as “our worst ‘ally’.”
A Pentagon official told JNS, “He will no longer be on the joint staff while the matter is being investigated,” adding that the Defense Department is assigning an investigating officer to examine the content and its implications.
“The individual is being returned to his service while the matter is being investigated.”
First reported by JNS and further detailed by Middle East Eye, the posts, which have since been archived, also included criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
McCormack referred to him and his allies as “Judeo-supremacist cronies” and accused them of wanting “to expel [Palestinians] and cleanse ‘Eretz Israel’ [Israeli territory] of ethnic Palestinians.”
“This is the kind of bitter oversharing I’d expect from someone who doesn’t know better,” a Defense Department contractor told JNS. “But at his level and under his own name and likeness? It’s mind-boggling.”
The Pentagon emphasised that the posts “do not reflect the position of the Joint Staff or the Department of Defense,” underscoring the potential impact such views could have on US alliances. “Our global alliances and partnerships are vital to our national security,” the official said.
McCormack’s LinkedIn profile states he began his current assignment in June 2024.
According to Middle East Eye, the posts also accused Washington of enabling Israel’s “bad behavior” and added: “The Western states go to great lengths to avoid criticism of Israel, much out of Holocaust guilt.”
“Israel’s actions over decades have prompted accusations of ethnic cleansing and genocide,” McCormack also wrote.
