Rocket and Satellite Launch Sites: Good for the U.S. Military, Bad for Citizens Worldwide and the Environment (Video)

By B.N. Frank

Over the years there has been increasing opposition worldwide to government agencies and private companies launching rockets, satellites, and similar vehicles.  There are numerous reasons for this in addition to dangers associated with increasing space junk levels (see 1, 2).  Research has proven that there are significant biological and environmental consequences associated with launches.  Earlier this year, 40 Starlink broadband satellites launched in the U.S. also fell from orbit and burned.  Oops.

The environmental impact of these vehicles being launched may seem obvious.  Thanks to the Global Network for producing a new video that reveals additional lesser-known impacts as well.

In regard to controversial broadband satellites, the U.S. continues to approve the launching of thousands more (see 1, 2).  Of course, other countries are launching them too.
