Tech Industry Proponent Compares 5G to an Evel Knievel Stunt and The Public Still Gets No Say In It

Comparing 5G to an Evel Knievel stunt seems appropriate.  After all,

  1. Telecom companies have testified that they have NO scientific evidence that 5G is safe.
  2. Many credible sources – in addition to doctors, environmentalists, and scientists – have warned 5G is way too risky (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Of course, Evel chose to be a stuntman and became a very wealthy man because of it.  He also suffered many serious and debilitating injuries during his career.

People and their pets have been getting sick where 5G has been installed (see 1, 2, 3).  The public is NOT choosing 5G – it’s being forced on us.

Remember Evel Knievel? He jumped over 13 buses on his motorcycle. He tried to jump the Snake River Gorge. He performed hundreds of risky stunts, and survived to a nice old age. I always had respect for his courage, to hit the ramp at top speed. But nobody knew what would happen, including Evel himself.

The millimeter wave (mmWave) market feels the same as a high-speed motorcycle jump. The operators have invested heavily in radio units this year, and they’re racing up the ramp now. The initial handsets have arrived on the market, and initial fixed services are available in selected places. The American operators are committed to this, and can’t back out now! Will they crash—or land safely?

It sounds like a risky plan, and big companies like Verizon and AT&T don’t engage in risky behavior without a reason. They’re taking this flying leap because they need the capacity. According to our calculations, both companies will run out of LTE capacity soon in major urban areas, despite the use of small cells, LAA, and other network tricks. So, in Manhattan, San Francisco, and in every NFL stadium, millimeter wave capacity is a necessity, not a science experiment.

Every major urban area and NFL stadium needs 5G?  Hardly. Opposition and lawsuits against 5G in the U.S. and worldwide continue to increase (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18).

Telecoms are risking their asses for 5G.  Of course they’ve been risking their asses for a while now and warning investors about it.  Of course, this hasn’t stopped them from manufacturing and marketing more products to everyone from cradle to grave.

It’s insurance companies that won’t take risks. They don’t cover telecom companies anymore (see 1, 2).
