Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Affects Up to 18% of Population. Does Where You Carry Your Cell Phone Play a Role?

By B.N. Frank

Since IBS affects 6-18% of people worldwide, it’s likely that you know at least one person who has it.  According to WebMD it affects between 25-45 million Americans – most of whom are women who acquire the condition in their late teens and early 40s.

The Mayo Clinic reports “The precise cause of IBS isn’t known” but that it may be triggered by food, stress, and hormones.  Anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues are also associated with it too.

Could where people carry their cell phones play a role?  Whenever it’s carried in someone’s purse, bag or inside pants’ pockets, it’s pretty darn close to everything digestive.  Those phones emit harmful Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) whether people feel them pulsing or not.

Of course everything wireless emits it.  Laptops and wearables emit it.  So do ear buds, some hearing aids and even new high-tech diapers. Exposure to EMR can lead to Microwave Sickness and symptoms include digestive problems, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, neurological problems, anxiety, stress, appetite loss, and much more.

According to a recent report from the World Health Organization, exposure to increasing levels of Electromagnetic Fields in 1st world countries may lead to health issues in 30% of population.  In 2010, other health experts basically said the same thing.  Children seem to be more affected by exposure than adults.  Of course, pets are affected too.

I have a friend in his early 50s who has IBS and wishes he didn’t.  It seemed to hit him in his mid-30s.  He eats well and exercises daily.  His IBS only flares up when he’s stressed out.  He’s also had a cell phone for approximately 20 years which he’s mostly carried in his pants’ pockets.  This may not have caused his IBS but it probably hasn’t helped it.
