Chemical Companies’ “Karma”: Is There A Possible Concept?

Op-Ed by Catherine J. Frompovich

Many folks think and talk about, while others believe profoundly in, KARMA; that it is the only true system of equitable justice dealt out by a higher authority often referred to as the Universe.  Whatever your beliefs about karma are, is fine with me.  However, something seems to be “gestating” within that system of justice or “pay-back” regarding long-overdue “up and comings” for chemical companies deliberately polluting the Planet, environment, air, water, food supply, sky and rain, plus humans.

One apparent and maybe ‘classic’ example can be found in an article I wrote in August of 2013 titled “GMOs: What Do The Stars Say Astrologically?”

I based my article on what the Aug. /Sept. 2013 issue of The Mountain Astrologer published regarding “Inside Monsanto.”

Coppolino says, “Monsanto’s 11th house provides a description why the company seems so intractable, including its stranglehold on the public.” Also that, “Monsanto survived the onslaughts against genetically modified food by its usual tactics – the use of government influence.” But, here’s the apparent bugaboo in an otherwise perfect chart: “Monsanto’s Jupiter-Saturn conjunction will experience a simultaneous conjunction from Pluto and square from Uranus, which happens in 2015.” That cosmic event may precipitate dramatic and traumatic events for Monsanto. Here’s how he describes it:

While there is no way to predict exactly what the Uranus-Pluto square will bring, there are few astrologers who would dare to underestimate its potential power. Those who are working for a sane response to genetic modification or to stop Monsanto outright, should know that the company is approaching a vulnerable moment, which is an invitation for activists to persist in their efforts. [1]

Those prognostications apparently were “spot on” since Monsanto is no longer an independent corporation but a subsidiary of Germany’s Bayer AG,German multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company. [Wikipedia]

However, the sleeper question may be, “Did Bayer buy a ‘pig-in-a-poke?”  It seems Bayer is now caught up in the 8,700 pending lawsuits filed against Monsanto’s premiere product “Roundup®”.  A current court decision gave Roundup-injured Dewayne Johnson a $289 MILLION award, recently scaled down or reduced to $78 Million by a judge, with thousands more waiting in a legal queue to be filed.

Can karma be at play when this article proclaims: “’The world is against them’: new era of cancer lawsuits threaten Monsanto”?

Reuters recently reported “Bayer CEO says would consider glyphosate settlement depending on costs.”

However, that is not sitting very well with Bayer’s stockholders!

CEO Werner Baumann told reporters when asked whether there was any scenario in which Bayer would consider settling,

If we can settle nuisances at some point where the defense costs in preparing cases are higher than potential settlement amounts, we will of course consider it from an economic standpoint. [2]

That being said, Bayer is gearing up for a campaign to promote a “Forward Farming” network to show that Bayer cares about the environment in an effort to “advance sustainable agriculture.”

Does that mean Bayer will be doing away with agro-chemicals and encouraging grass-fed animal husbandry plus organic farming?  I don’t think so!

However, if Bayer executives feel karma may or can be at play, they just may change the historical course of Bayer’s doing business.  Only time will tell.  One way to make certain is to boycott environment-damaging chemicals for any and all uses.

We have to save the bees and pollinators!

We have to save wildlife!

We have to stop contaminating water!

We have to take back and save healthfully-grown, nutritious food crops!

We have to save ourselves!
