Are There Palpable Differences Between Democrats And Republicans?

Op-Ed by Catherine J. Frompovich

First and foremost, what you will read and hear below mostly is a SPOOF [imitate (something) while exaggerating its characteristic features for comic effect; hoax or trick (Online Dictionary)] regarding the differences between Democrats and Republicans.

After viewing the spoof Democrat Campaign Ad originally on Forbidden Knowledge TV, I could not stop thinking how “creative” it was and innovative in defining many of the apparent perception differences now circumnavigating the political sphere and geographical areas in the United States running up to the mid-terms elections, November 6th.

Please keep in mind that this author is a registered (fierce) Independent, with no party affiliations whatsoever!  It is my opinion both parties have their faults and cross-overs, i.e., Democrats who became Republicans—notoriously former President Ronald Reagan, who once was a Democrat, per Wikipedia:

Reagan had been a Democrat until 1962, when he became a conservative and switched to the Republican Party. In 1964, Reagan’s speech, “A Time for Choosing”, supported Barry Goldwater’s foundering presidential campaign and earned him national attention as a new conservative spokesman.

That “switching mechanism” is not strictly a Democratic trait; famous Republicans became Democrats, including the late Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Pete Stark, California Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Rodham Clinton, plus others on this website.

It is this writer’s opinion, to be a politician one apparently must have some chameleon-like genes floating around either in one’s brain or heart.

Does humor somehow have a special ‘skill’ to put things into different perspectives one possibly could not grasp nor realize before?
