Majority of Republicans Support Preemptive Strike on North Korea, Déjà Vu Edition

By Eric Blair

After just a few short months of being propagandized, a recent poll conducted by Quinnipiac University revealed that a majority of Republicans (46% to 41%) now support a preemptive strike on North Korea.

Newsweek reports:

An increasingly hostile relationship between the U.S. and North Korea has Americans considering a preemptive strike on the country—and many Republicans are all for it. About 46 percent of Republicans support a preemptive strike on North Korea today—compare that with just 42 percent of Republicans who say they don’t support it, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

The poll also showed a large majority of Republicans (63% to 29%) believe that it’s more important to “take away North Korea’s nuclear weapons” than to “avoid war.”  Nearly opposite views are held by people identifying as Democrats (24% to 69%).

Previously viewed as aggressive invasion, the United States has normalized preemptive war.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney argued that Iraq was such a threat that they must be bombed and invaded to prevent a very unlikely attack “at home.”  A majority fell for it.

Remember “45 minutes to a mushroom cloud?” Remember Secretary Powell disgracing himself at the UN with vials of anthrax and diagrams of “mobile chemical weapons labs?”

It’s important to remember the lies that promoted preemptive wars as they’re being rolled out once again.

The change in public policy from a supposed defensive nation to an aggressive war machine was called the “Bush Doctrine.”  Obama continued the policy as if it was standard operating procedure.

When the Obama Administration argued that the US must preemptively strike Libya’s ruler Gaddafi in support of a “rebel” uprising, the majority fell for it. They told us it was a preemptive “humanitarian war.”  They said the operation would only take days. And of course Republicans went along with it because the war machine pays their bills.

Obama, who came into office and received a Nobel Peace Prize after just 8 months, became the first president to spend every day at war. Obama also exported twice as many weapons as the Bush Administration. In his final year as president, the US dropped 26,171 bombs around the world. Some could argue he was the most warlike president ever.

Anti-war activists finally stood up to this preemptive war agenda when Obama wanted to launch yet another in Syria. Using the same script Obama cited “humanitarian reasons,” aka Assad was killing his own people. As it turned out, Assad was fighting Western-backed terrorist militias just as Gaddafi was in Libya. Americans had enough. They called Congress in record numbers to oppose the aggression.

Both Iraq and Libya wars have been absolute disasters. No honest person can claim the people of those nations are better off after the US-backed mass murder and destruction. But if the goal was to weaken stable nations to strengthen certain neighboring opponents, then it may be mission accomplished.

Democrats who cheered a cackling Hillary Clinton when she said “We came, we saw, he died!” – referring to preemptively murdering Gaddafi – now seem to be rediscovering their distaste for a bloody foreign policy with Trump in the White House.

The same poll by Quinnipiac revealed that a huge majority of Democrats oppose a preemptive strike in North Korea.

When members of both major parties are surveyed, that question changes a lot. Only 16 percent of Democrats favor the idea of the U.S. making a preemptive strike on North Korea, while a whopping 77 percent of Democrats oppose it.”

The poll also discovered that an overall majority of 54 percent to 29 percent believe the tensions with North Korea can be resolved diplomatically instead of war.

It’s good to see the prospect of a Trump-led war is waking up the comatose anti-war Democrats. Let’s hope they can keep their resolve through the battering of propaganda, fake news and false flags likely to be deployed by the war machine.

  1. Majority of Republicans support the dropping of bombs and seeing explosions just about anywhere. Democrats kill babies inside the womb. Republicans, outside.

  2. North Korea is the red herring. More disinformation from the MSM as well as ActingPost. The real aim is war with China, as they own trillions of dollars in US debt and hold great influence in the Asia Pacific region. We pretend to war with Syria to get to Iran (for greater i$rael), and we pretend to war with North Korea to actually try and get to China (for more war, because well, apparently the US is told do so). The THADD missiles in South Korea aren’t really for North Korea, they’re for China.

  3. US, NATO, ISRAEL morally, ethically, spiritually dead, GODLESS. Worthless to creator and creation of idiocy and death to the entire planet. Too late to wake up. May they rest in the hell they deserve.

    • this is what people need to realise that it does not matter who we vote for nothing is going to change while the bankers and corporations control all the political parties makes you want to question if activist post are not also under their control with posts like this one

  4. These polls say a lot more about discredited Republican ideology than the surface response. For instance, not one thought about how South Korea will be affected if the US nukes North Korea, not one thought about how China and Russia will respond if the US launches a preemptive strike. In other words, Republicans as a whole are ignorant and stupid.

    • Like the rest of the world too that seem to be convinced they a first strike will take out North Korea before Kim can fire off his rockets and bombs and think that China and Russia will just watch and do nothing. Australia even in now so they aren’t worried either. Amazing what a bit of faith in the lord does to the mind.

  5. The current powers that be are too entrenched to remove from power by working within the system. The only way to affect change is to stand up and revolt. Doing it with nonviolent means is preferable. That being said, your just barking up a tree if you think that will work. These are greedy capitalists who don’t give a crap if you have food on your table. As long as they can live happily ever after like the fairy tale says you don’t count. As for those who are bamboozled by the administration for believing in first strike options. Trump stated in his campaign he loves low educated voters.

Every seed is awakened and so has all animal life. It is through this mysterious power that we too have our being, and we therefore yield to our neighbors, even our animal neighbors, the same right as ourselves, to inhabit this land.

Yet, hear me, people, we have now to deal with another race – small and feeble when our fathers first met them but now great and overbearing. Strangely enough they have a mind to till the soil and the love of possession is a disease with them. These people have made many rules that the rich may break but the poor may not. They take their tithes from the poor and weak to support the rich and those who rule.

They claim this mother of ours, the earth, for their own and fence their neighbors away; they deface her with their buildings and their refuse. The nation is like a spring freshet that overruns its banks and destroys all that are in its path.

We cannot dwell side by side. Only seven years ago we made a treaty by which we were assured that the buffalo country should be left to us forever. Now they threaten to take that away from us. My brothers, shall we submit or shall we say to them: ‘First kill me before you take possession of my land”

  8. At well over $20 Trillion in debt, at least 95% of our Israeli-ass kissing Congress needs to be arrested for seditious acts of treason and be facing capital punishment. What a lousy stinking Rothschild scam; this two-party system is. If allowed to continue to operate, it’s projected that the Rothschild Khazarian Mafia (RKM) will have reduced the US population from 315+ million to just 68 million by 2025.

  9. war makes the economy better by taking money from other countries, and the military is a welfare program for the poor who have no choice but to volunteer to fight for that money.
