Trump Expected To Sign Orders For “Safe Zone” In Syria According To Reports

President Donald Trump is expected to sign yet another Executive Order regarding his plan to suspend the U.S.’s “refugee” program and a tightening of procedures for vetting individuals entering the United States under a refugee visa. Few but the most ardent open immigration proponents are against such a policy.

However, tucked away in the document, according to mainstream news sources like Reuters and Newsweek, is a provision to create “safe zones” in Syria.

As Julia Edwards Ainsley and Matt Spetalnick of Reuters summarized,

President Donald Trump is expected to order the Pentagon and the State Department in coming days to craft a plan for setting up “safe zones” for refugees in Syria, according to a document seen by Reuters on Wednesday, a move that could risk escalation of U.S. military involvement in Syria’s civil war.

The draft executive order awaiting Trump’s signature signaled the new administration may be preparing a step that his predecessor Barack Obama long resisted, fearing the potential for being pulled deeper into the bloody conflict and the threat of clashes between U.S. and Russian warplanes over Syria.

“The Secretary of State, in conjunction with the Secretary of Defense, is directed within 90 days of the date of this order to produce a plan to provide safe areas in Syria and in the surrounding region in which Syrian nationals displaced from their homeland can await firm settlement, such as repatriation or potential third-country resettlement,” the draft order said.

Creation of safe zones, if Trump decides to do so, could ratchet up U.S. military involvement in Syria and mark a major departure from Obama’s more cautious approach. Increased U.S. or allied air power would be required if Trump chooses to enforce “no fly” restrictions, and ground forces might also be needed to protect civilians in those areas.

Still, the document gave no details on what would constitute a safe zone, exactly where they might be set up and who would defend them. Jordan, Turkey and other neighboring countries already host millions of Syrian refugees. The Turkish government had long pressed Obama, without success, for creation of a no-fly zone in Syria on its border with Turkey.

The draft raised the possibility of establishing those safe havens in neighboring countries but did not elaborate.

The move is being characterized as being part of a larger plan to restrict refugee influx to the United States, especially from specific countries.

In true Trump fashion, the document allegedly lacks details. While it is possible that the order only revolves around the repatriation of refugees already inside the country, given the coverage provided to the issue of “safe zones” and “no-fly zones” in Syria over the past few years, it is unlikely that the terminology would be used out of ignorance. If the “safe zones” are established in “neighboring countries,” then there is the possibility that terms are being blurred but it is not likely that other countries will want anymore refugees themselves.

It should also be noted that the order is not an order to produce a “safe zone” but an order to produce a plan to create one. A fine line but a line nonetheless.

Still, while it is entirely reasonable to begin scaling back America’s open immigration policies and influx of questionable refugees as well as sending them back to their home countries where possible, a “safe zone” in Syria is an entirely different ball game; “safe zones” as we know them mean war – plain and simple. After all, a “safe zone” must be enforced and how else can it be enforced but with ground troops and fighter jets?

Such has even been admitted by top U.S. Generals when explaining exactly what a No Fly Zone would entail. As General Carter Ham stated,

We should make no bones about it. It first entails killing a lot of people and destroying the Syrian air defenses and those people who are manning those systems. And then it entails destroying the Syrian air force, preferably on the ground, in the air if necessary. This is a violent combat action that results in lots of casualties and increased risk to our own personnel.

General Philip Breedlove also echoed this description when he said,

I know it sounds stark, but what I always tell people when they talk to me about a no-fly zone is . . . it’s basically to start a war with that country because you are going to have to go in and kinetically take out their air defense capability

When Senator Roger Wicker asked Gen. Joe Dunford what it would take to impose a no-fly zone upon Syria, the General responded, “Right now… for us to control all of the airspace in Syria would require us to go to war against Syria and Russia.”

The idea of establishing a “safe zone” in Syria is, of course, not a new concept. In July, 2015, the agreement being discussed would have effectively created a “buffer zone” that would have spanned from the Turkish border line into Syria. It would have extended from Azaz in the East to Jarablus in the west and as far south as al-Bab. The width of the zone would have been about 68 miles and would have extended around 40 miles deep into Syria, right on the doorstep of Aleppo. That “buffer zone” was actually created with Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield and it has functioned as the last open, NATO-protected supply line for ISIS and its allies to enter Syria from Turkey.

Many hoped that a Trump victory would finally mean the end of terrorism and destabilization in Syria. However, after a week in office, Trump is showing clear signs that he is as much an establishment figure as the rest as time moves on.

If America wants to stop terrorism in Syria, it need only stop funding it, supporting it, and directing it. It’s that simple. The U.S. could also call on its allies Saudi Arabia, Turkey, U.K., France, Qatar, and Israel to do the same. It could work with Russia to eliminate the remnants of terrorist forces and it could provide information and coordinates to both Syria and Russia on the whereabouts of terrorists and terrorist forces. At this point, legitimate refugees would no longer have a reason to leave and refugees taken in by the U.S. could be shuttled back to their home countries with no fear of them returning to war.

A “safe zone” under the guise of the repatriation of refugees is simply a safe zone under another name. With Obama, the argument was a “safe zone” to protect civilians from ISIS and Assad. Neither the American people nor the Syrian people want further American involvement in Syria. It is time to stop funding terrorists and “rebels” and to end the American presence in Syria.

  1. Who needs trump in Syria? They are like the homeless, just keeps coming back uninvited.

  2. I hope that he doesn’t look at himself in the mirror, or else the mirror would break?

  3. The show must go on!

  4. So is America now run by edict? What is with all these damned Executive Orders? Isn’t this stuff CONGRESS’S job? But if Trump is just going to executive order everything, then we only have ONE BRANCH of gov’t: the police branch.

    The totalitarian boot cometh…

    • Where were you during the Obama regime? Trump is undoing much of what Obama did by executive order. He is otherwise using laws that already exist, which Obama illegally refused to enforce. He is not writing new laws. That is Congress’ job.

      • Obama is not president anymore. Furthermore, Trump is doing exactly what Obama did: run the country via edict or E.O.’s if you prefer that euphemism.
He is not writing new laws.
What is the difference between a ‘law’ made by Congress and an Executive Order that carries same force as law and is considered law by courts?
        That is Congress’ job
Congress doesn’t do a job. They are parasites. If they did their job, then they would actually READ and debate and weigh and consider legislation that lands at their desks instead of voting on crap they have no clue about. That is tyranny of false representation.

        • I’ll agree with your last point, but the answer to your question right before it is that a law passed by congress can’t just be undone by the next president without another act of congress. They also can’t be shot down by the courts, like they did to Obama’s mass migrant amnesty order. The exception to that is if that passed law is determined to be unconstitutional.

          • Fair enough, Derek. So the only difference is how easy it is to undo, is this correct?
Because if it just comes down to how easy something is to undo after being done, then the mindset guiding our society is foolishness.

“Law” that constantly changes is no law at all, but just a contrived legality to suit some evil purpose.

Just like the abortion law that gets changed every time a there is a change of Government. Women are beating their heads against a wall or looking for the knitting needle .

        • Great points, Pyra. You go girl! 😉

Trump is heading south fast. The US is responsible for every death in Syria. War with Russia anyone?

  6. Seems to me that safe zones are needed to get Syria back on its feet. There will be no one left there if everyone has to run for their lives.

    • There already are safe zones in Syria. They’re called Aleppo, Damascus and Tartous. I guess you, like John Kirby, missed it when E. Aleppans danced in the streets. Guess you were too busy watching the corporate media. What are you doing here?

  7. We have NO RIGHT to enter a sovereign country and do anything without permission of that country! PERIOD! This is against international law and is unethical.
WHY risk going to war with Russia when this is absolutely NONE of our business anyway?! Russia will not stand by and allow our military to essentially take over Syria, which would have to happen if the USA decided to illegally enter a foreign country and declare “safe zones” which would in reality be war zones.

    • Right on: what if
Syria tried to create a safe zone in the US? What if Syrian, without permission, funded terrorists in the US and made a military invasion? Trump promotes the sovereignty of the US but denies it to Syria? He has also said he would nuke ISIS which is holed up in cities with hundreds of thousands of civilian shields. He also said he wouldn’t take nuking Europe off the table. Wake up sheeple, you have been had by a master con man fronting for the Deep State.

      • Good points made Dale. It seems as though Trump is a warmonger as well as HIllary is/was.
This worries me, and it is starting to worry Russia too. Sooner or later Russia WILL have to respond in a more meaningful manner than it has thus far. (especially with our troops, nukes, and other ordnance on Russia’s border.

        • Heads up, Dale is a anti-conspiracy theorist Harvard political science SPLC supporter in the mold of Cass Sunstein’s “Cognitive Infiltration” program spouting invective against the general themes often discussed on A. Post to include opposition to mandatory vaccinations, heavy handed statism, establishment climate change propaganda, and geonengineering….to name a few.

  8. Former USArmy PsyOps officer, Scott Bennett, discovered that the CIA pays into Swiss bank accounts from which ISIS leaders and operatives draw. Veteranstoday has established that Saudi sheiks also assist to fund ISIS mercenaries.
Hopefully, president Trump will stop the CIA funding of ISIS and the USAF support to the ISIS operation. He would do well to remove all US forces from Syria, as Syria has neither requested nor approved US Military in Syria. Veteranstoday also acquired “leaked” reports of USAF pilots stating that they often dropped their loads in desert locations, not on ISIS.

  9. The USA.Corp. has abslutely no right, internationally, to do any god damned thing in Syria . The explicit and implicit arrogance of many Americans is justifiably despised throughout the world.

  10. A safezone isn’t necessarily a bad thing if it is done with the full cooperation and consent of the de jure government of Syria and its allies.

President Trump is being accused by Congress and the CIA of being a Russian agent; it would appear that the game-plan is to start impeachment proceedings the moment he lifts sanctions, using the lifting of sanctions on Russia as so called evidence of treason.

Putin has increased the planned nuclear weapons production, in theory this could be to give President Trump the opportunity to lift sanctions on Russia in the context of a deal to reduce planned production of nuclear weapons, diluting Congress’ expected accusation of treason. Much fraud has occurred in past “bilateral disarmament” favoring the Soviet Union.

    • “President Putin has increased the planned nuclear weapons production, in theory this could be to give President Trump the opportunity to lift sanctions on Russia in the context of a deal to reduce planned production of nuclear weapons, diluting Congress’ expected accusation of treason.”

I like this plan a lot! It may well already be Trump’s plan. There’s no telling. I hope so.

  11. Hmmm

“Safe zone” is 1984 double speak dividing Syria to allow Israeli annexation of the Golan Heights and a big chunk more of Syria “official” Apparently the public has zero memory what so ever. The reason that Obama was sent in to Syria to wage a secret war of regime change was to pave the way for carving up Syria to allow Israel to steal the Golan Heights permanently. People really need to start paying attention.

The only difference between Bush Jr., Obama and Trump when it comes to their fealty to Israel is Donald has yet to serve the zionists for a full eight years. Clearly he is desperate to make up for lost time…..NutenYahoo has made it clear to Trump through his emissary Jared Kushner is that the US Military cannot leave until Israel gets Southern Syria handed to it on a platter. And if that means war with Russia, well either make a deal or start fighting…..

    • As with the bulk of the Judas Class in D.C., I’ve come to the sad conclusion that, the gleam on Trumps chin as he walked from AIPAC’s “bunker” is definitely NOT sweat….
He, like all those after JFK, will “service” Their Bolshevik masters and we will pay the price in freedom, honor and common decency.

Without an invitation from the Syrian government any military action is an act of war. No more imperial colonialism to benefit corporate interests. Amerika is not an honest broker and has no “business” in the Middle East.

  13. Syria is over. Russia and the Syrian people won. The USA is not even allowed to fly over the country. If you hear of USA bombing, that is false, all they can muster is missiles, from outside Syria, as Russia owns the sky. As we speak peace negotiations are underway, and NO the USA is not involved.

  14. Well here we go. This is STUPID (all in caps). Turkey wants this so as not to interfere with their smuggling operation. If they want to get rid of ISIS (and we know they don’t), we don’t want this. They need to pound them with no where for them to hide.

  15. As cmdr clarke told us,7 countries to invade including iraq, lybia, syria and iran in 5 yrs,But they haven’t given up on the dream yet because the good muggles of this world are to busy keeping there heads down and working to provide for themselves and families.I was told many yrs ago to look to the future,You can’t change the past.MP’s “We have to look to the future”A wise man once said,If u look into history,it can tell you the future. Now knowing this to be true, not just words in 2002 i used it to tell the future.Although nothing had been said in the main media I could look around and see uk house prices going thought the roof and credit card debt going the same way.So i looked back in history to the last man made recession in1990 and with now more noises coming from the media,Sold our house in 2007.So i decided to look back a bit longer in history to see what is happening know.Besides even more false idols than the Egyptians the basic pyramid of power is exactly the same. The icons are in every country,On the Dollar bill to the obelisk the first Jesuit pope in history faced when he became the latest idol and the obelisk,555ft high! Trump faced when he was sworn in and he went to a jesuit school. They say if u want to get on with your neighbour,You build bridges or knock the walls down,But trump has given the go a head for US tax payers,To Pay for it! and it will change nothing,Unless like his mates the US tax payer give billions to isreal and theres is great. So is trump going to help the syrians or his mates that planned all the ME wars and compete control of that part of the world and there resources.I would say no till they can get Assad who elected in with 70%turn out of the population and 81% win.In the west we call this democracy,But Cameron got in with 36% of just over 50% turnout and May wasn’t even elected.PS ISIS funded by cia and there weapons and hummers seen and brought in through Turkey. When the bbc showed the russian helicopter been taken out by a rocket launcher by ISIS the people watching, were watching the helicopter, not the US rocket launcher being used.
Its a interesting world and everything in plan sight,But sadly most good muggles eyes wide shut.

    • With traitorous dual citizen swine like Wesley (WACO) Clark, whom, I believe is also a shielded war criminal the likes of Henry (the demon) Kissinger, I’m surprised the military doesn’t lose MORE than the trillions they “misplaced” while dual citizen “Dov” Zakheim was watching the hen house.

  16. If he were “legit” and not just another lackey, knowing Sewer Nation is there illegally, he would simply pull out. and as for making the military “strong again”? Sewer Nation spends $0.60 of every dollar they steal from us on that bloated mass already, soon to be more if the Judas Class’ owners @ AIPAC demand more military “gifts” to annihilate the Palestinians. Sewer Nation could make the existing military three times more powerful as it is nearly instantly. Bring them home and concentrate on protecting from ATTACK rather than ATTACKING every goddamn nation refusing to accept a Central Bank, Noahide Law or demanding a fair price for their petroleum. Sadly, I’m getting an itch around my colon and it has “Donald Trump” written all over it.
Meet the “New” boss, same as the “Old” one
We won’t be fooled again – The Guess Who.

  17. Trump is not Obama and said he is willing to work with Russia in Syria. The “safe zines” could consist of U.S. or Turkish ground troops for protection and the Russians for Air support….i

  18. I must have missed the part of the US CONSTITUTION that grants anyone the authority to create anything in another country.. would anyone care to point that out for everyone?

    • It isn’t covered in the constitution. It’s common practice, obviously, like no-fly zones.

You know, like the one Hillary was proposing to stop Russia from bombing ISIS.

      • Marbury v Madison, anything repugnant to the Constitution is null and void from it’s inception.

16 AM Jur 2d (Volume 16 American Jurisprudence, second series) section 177 on Constitutional Law, which states:
“The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it, an unconstitutional law, in legal contemplation, is as inoperative as if it had never been passed. Such a statute leaves the question that it purports to settle just as it would be had the statute not been enacted.
“Since an unconstitutional law is void, the general principles follow that it imposes no duties, confers no rights, creates no office, bestows no power or authority on anyone, affords no protection, and justifies no acts performed under it . . . ‘No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.’ ”

        But thanks for playing!

        • Well, then I guess there are many “laws” that need to be nullified.

No one said the safe zones are law, they are temporarily secured areas to protect people in Syria (mostly women and children, I suppose, that all those refugee men abandoned?) until ISIS is neutralized.

          • desertspeaks | January 29, 2017 at 2:58 pm |

In actuality, none of their laws apply to anyone.. Oh, I know you believe they do.. your indoctrinated to believe so. Ask any government wonk/employee and they will confirm that all of their CONstitutions and laws apply to everyone automatically, just for physically being within a given geographic area.
What facts do you or the weasels in gvt rely on that proves any of it applies to anyone just because they are physically within a geographic area??

Would you or anyone else care to pick up the challenge and prove that any of it applies to anyone, just because of their physically being in a geographic area?? You can regale us all with your factual tangible personal firsthand knowledge and evidence that you rely on that proves applicability..

Remember, we want your factual tangible personal firsthand evidence, not your feelings, beliefs, opinions or the feelings, beliefs or opinions of others..just facts! “interestingly, every time some putz responds, they always reply with their OPINION or someone else’s opinion but no facts proving anything but their indoctrination and their inane ability to regurgitate propaganda!”

The following does not equate to evidence proving applicability, the regurgitation of propaganda reinforcing your indoctrination, confirmation bias, circular reasoning, hyperbole, hearsay or hearsay of hearsay, rumor, speculation, assumptions, presumptions, hypotheticals, conjecture, sophistry, obfuscation, scenarios, what if’s, fraud or lies.
Do NOT reference any historical document that doesn’t have the wet ink signature of anyone being charged for anything. Nor reference any document that is compulsory,.. Fraud, threats, duress and coercion to accept a compulsory document, nullifies any implied acceptance or consent. Well, unless you support slavery. You don’t support slavery do you?
Further, in your attempt to justify your indoctrination; You shall not invoke any magical legal citations, alleged laws, statutes, codes, policies, treaties, etc, or any Constitution or any amendments to any Constitution, as that presupposes that any of it is applicable, when that is what is in question in the first place!

            IT’S ALL FRAUD!
