In July 2016, I published another book, Eat to Beat Disease, Foods Medicinal Qualities, which talks about how food ‘works’ in the body not only as nutrition but how it impacts either health or disease. In numerous places in that book, I stress the relevance of “individual body chemistry” or what some healthcare professionals would consider “balance,” something very few eaters and even conventional physicians delve into or learning about to balance body chemistry.
One of the most thorough interviews I’ve come across on the Internet is a video with Naturopathic Physician Deb Heald, ND, of Canada, wherein she discusses many of the food-nutrition-health alignments that I covered in Eat to Beat Disease, which I can’t thank her enough for doing. Here are some of the points of interest that I noted while listening to that almost 48 minute video.
At 2:25 minutes into the interview, she talks about stress related to employment and to check out cortisol levels, something many physicians don’t do, but prescribe some patented chemical pharmaceutical drug to ‘relieve’. Stress is something that can ‘own’ you. What owns you?
Your intestinal tract (gut) takes a hit from stress. Dr Heald suggests learning to meditate to relieve stress. As an aside, daily I do a total of between 60 and 90 minutes of prayer and meditation, most as soon as I awaken after a night’s sleep, to get my day started in the correct frame of mind. Personally, I believe meditation, believe it or not, is ‘exercise’ for the mind. Quieting the mind and reaching for higher levels of consciousness really are mind exercises.
According to Dr Heald, exercise, especially marathons and their training, are very stressful on all body systems (see her discussion at 9 minutes on the timeline). She uses a treadmill to do her exercises, but I have to question the ‘efficacy’ of that since treadmills are known to produce high amounts of electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs).
Exercise on a treadmill, which produces dirty electricity, increases plasma glucose. These findings may explain why brittle diabetics have difficulty regulating blood sugar. 
Furthermore, “Dirty electricity, generated by electronic equipment and wireless devices, is ubiquitous in the environment.”  As my readers probably know, I research extensively and write about EMFs/RFs and their impact upon human health and the environment. Personally, I think going to a gym with all its electronic exercise equipment, especially if the gym offers free Wi-Fi too, you are being exposed to many more EMFs/RFs than you probably know and that your body is being irradiated with, i.e., non-ionizing radiation.
Dave Stetzer, a leading expert on dirty electricity, and other scientists, have found that these high frequency voltages come from our computers, printers, copiers, TVs, game consoles, tube fluorescent lights, compact florescent light bulbs, dimmer light switches, variable speed motors, treadmills, vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, wind turbines, solar energy inverters, smart meters, and other electronic devices. 
At 18 minutes into the interview, Dr Heald talks about HLA genes (Human Leucocyte Antigens) and how they act in people who are allergic to foods and the environmental challenges. Learn about a genetic susceptibility. Her discussion is an excellent explanation of food and gut reactions, and how to deactivate histamine in the gut by repopulating the gut with proper intestinal flora, e.g., probiotics and prebiotics, which I also discuss in Eat to Beat Disease.

One thing that keeps cropping up in her interview is “balance,” something that I define as “individual biochemistry” in my book, as we all are as super-special in biochemistry as our fingerprints are unique to our identity. Furthermore, I think that many nutrition ‘fads’ can be misleading because they do not take into consideration “individual biochemistry and balance.”
Glyphosate, which is showing up in just about everything anymore—including vaccines, is mentioned at 29 minutes and she also ‘delineates’ organic wines and resveratrol, a natural fungicide Nature provided to protect grapes on the vine.
One of the recent nutrition trends—bone broth—is talked about at 31:35 minutes. One thing she cautions about is that lupus patients need to reevaluate bone broth and the biochemical reasons.
Glutamate, at 33 minutes, is talked about and how bone broth produces MSG, plus the same nerve symptoms as any MSG product would. Sleep also is discussed at 36 minutes.
However, what I find most interesting is Dr Heald’s discussion about hot flashes. It agrees with what I’ve been telling clients and others for years, and that histamine has a definite link to hot flashes! If females are over the menopause age range [48 to 55 years old] and still experiencing hot flashes while still taking hormones, check out your diet for you probably have an overwhelming histamine level being produce by many of the foods that you think are nutritionally good for you but still eating, e.g., Kombucha, alcohol, and other foods I talk about in Eat to Beat Disease as fermented foods. Vaccine-damaged people need to look into histamine-producing foods in their diet, which I also discuss in Eat to Beat Disease.
If your body’s individual biochemistry and genetic predisposition knows it can’t handle some healthful foods, that’s an indication, in my opinion, of leaky gut—broken tight junctions—mitochondrial problems, health issues that are becoming more pervasive—or so it seems—since the introduction of GMO ‘phood’ in the 1990s.
Dr Heald presents an exceptional interview regarding “functional medicine” and what I contend is to be found in nutrition and a whole food, organic diet, not in GMO ‘phood’, fast food restaurant fare or prepackaged processed edibles.
An optimal ‘prescription’ for vibrant health is a health-promoting lifestyle: exercise, no smoking, minimum or no alcohol consumption, no street drugs, and chemical- and stress-free home and work environments.
