A Third of Americans “Will Have Only One Choice” on Their Obamacare Plan Next Year

obamacare_rate_hike1By Melissa Dykes

Everyone was forced onto Obamacare.

Now, it is collapsing… by design.

Sadly, this was the plan all along – to completely socialize health care after the collapse of competition in this new government-backed monopoly market that represents approximately one-sixth of the entire U.S. economy.

A stinking scam to take the whole thing over – and our health with it.

But really… this is going to hurt a lot of Americans.

As CNBC reports:

One-third of the United States may have just a single insurer to pick from on Obamacare marketplaces in 2017, an analysis released Friday suggests.

Seven entire states are projected to have just one carrier in 2017: Alaska, Alabama, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wyoming, according to research by the Avalere consultancy.

And more than half of the country, 55 percent, may end up having two or fewer insurers to choose from… “And there may be some sub-region counties where no plans are available,” a report by Avalere on its analysis found.

The findings reflect the effect of announcements this summer that three major insurers — Aetna, UnitedHealth and Humana — will sharply reduce the number of areas where they will sell individual health plans in 2017 due to financial losses on those plans, as well as the failures of most Obamacare co-op insurance plans.

Is one choice really a “choice” at all?

This is going to make it much more difficult on everyone – especially the Middle Class, who not only face stagnant wages and skyrocketing living costs, but now must find a way to cope with sharply increasing insurance premiums as well.

And unlike the wealthy who can afford to pay, or the poor who get subsidies and compensation from the government, no one is there to keep these struggling Americans caught in the middle afloat. In fact, the whole plan hinges on millions and millions of average people paying into this, then getting sick, then desperately needing medical coverage.

All this makes President Obama a liar, a cheat and, to be frank — a real asshole.

And who knows what the hell this vague and open-for-abuse statement means:

“Congress and the administration can choose to stabilize these markets and re-establish competition — but only through a consensus process that brings in a broader swath of the uninsured,” Mendelson said.

I mean, seriously, we were all forced into buying crappy health care plans or else forced to pay an exorbitant tax penalty. And what did we get for it besides completely screwed?

  1. From Mrs. Dykes: “Sadly, this was the plan all along – to completely socialize health care
after the collapse of competition in this new government-backed
monopoly market that represents approximately one-sixth of the entire
    U.S. economy.”

From the CNBC article she cites: “One-third of the United States may have just a single insurer to pick from on Obamacare marketplaces in 2017, an analysis released Friday suggests.”

Such forced patronage is not “socialism” per se, but a hybrid of privatized health-care and government provided health care that combines the worst features of both systems. Real “socialized” medical care, as seen in the social democracies of Europe doesn’t force the purchasing of private medical care but rather taxes citizens and provides “free” care. The American system does no such thing, but rather facilitates corporate monopoly as a form of crony capitalism. One can rebuke or deride socialized medicine, but at least get the terminology correct when discussing Obama-care, rather than misleading readers by calling the ACA “socialized health care.”

    • Socialized the American Way ?
      .

      • Yes, the ‘American Way’ is the ‘Public Private Partnership’ otherwise known as Fascism.

        • The U.S. should foot the bill for healthcare for all of it’s people,
similar to the way Canada, Britain, France and other countries
appreciate the the responsibility of serving “The People” – literally.
It’s better than spending money bailing out banks, giving trillions of
dollars in defense spending to other countries or bailing out private prisons (1.5 billion recently?) etc. A country that protects the health of it’s people rather than the profits of it’s elites is stronger and more able to thrive. This
is not socialism/communism, it’s common sense.

          • All it would take is the Fed making a few extra keystrokes to conjure up the trillions of dollars in Notes that could be thrown onto the pile of debt the American people will never pay anyway.

In the meantime we’ll just have to pay a little bit of interest, oh wait, with NIRP, they’ll even pay us to borrow the money. While they’re at it they might as well take a few seconds to print up some Basic Minimum Income spending cash too, and hey while you’re at it, add a bunch of zeros to it so we can all be billionaires like Soros, Gates, Trump and the Clintons.

      • ever notice that most of the people that are on assistance are fat from over eating.

        • Not ALWAYS from overeating but by not having the correct nutritional foods because “junk” food is more calories, but less nutrition, at a cheaper price. Fresh Produce has gone up at LEAST 20% in price while junk food has gone down in the same time period. When you only get so much a month to feed your family, many times nutrition goes out the window for quantity, not quality

          • makes since.

I’m disabled after paying into the system as a home health aide for 25 years and only get $118 in food stamps for myself. The nearest grocery store is 6 blocks away and I have to use a power chair to get there BUT the prices there for produce is higher than a cat’s back at Halloween and let’s not even talk about the meat prices!!! Canned goods are almost as bad and the only thing really cheap to get is junk food, Totino’s Pizza or the Banquet TV dinners

    • Move back to where you came from and pay 60% taxes for that band aid. Socialism doesn’t work they have the worst outcomes the lowest input and the worst dental care. They might be less obese but only because they have no money left to eat on.

  2. Mussolini defined Fascism as a merger between the state and corporations. Obamacare was a scam created for 2 reasons. 1) To steal the hard-earning money of Americans in order to enrich private insurance companies; 2) to prevent states from implementing state run Medicaid programs that save taxpayers billions but which private insurance companies & big pharma couldn’t profit from. Obamacare is not socialized medicine. Socialized medicine was what the Soviets had. No co-pays, no deductibles, alternative care such as chiropractics and biofeedback, etc…Actually the Libyans had it too along with free housing, education, and utilities, a good reason why we bombed Libya like Yugoslavia out of existence.

  3. I’m sorry Madame Author, but it is people like you with a discredited ideology that is hurting Americans. Even your use of the word “socialize” creates a prejudice against single payer healthcare. Guess what, your lies, innuendo and faulty reasoning are not going to win over any converts. It is totally shameful that the US, which constantly crows about being number 1, should have millions dying for lack of healthcare, because it is much too expensive for ordinary people to absorb. Did you know for instance that American women are dying in childbirth at a rate that exceeds that of some third world countries? I suggest you get another job, being a paid shill for venal insurance companies is immoral and unethical!

    • The real question is: Why are health care costs so high in the first place? Look into that one and get back to me.

      • Without even doing any investigation, the reasons that I have heard referenced relating to your question have to do with the US government’s acquiescence to big pharma and big insurance companies to allow them to charge the highest prices for their products. Certainly the Bush League agreed to allow big pharma to charge full rates for meds under Medicare. Also big insurance adds approximately a 30% premium for its administration of medical insurance claims (this is a cost that single payer systems to not have).

        • And you suppose that same government will administer socialized (it is socialized because the money has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is forced taxation of the people) health care any better than it is now?

          • We can always hope can’t we? First though the US has to start walking away from Fascism. That is, government has to separate itself from the military/industrial and other corporate complex. It has to be free to do what is best for the American people without having to fight American corporations to do it. Other First Word nations have managed to reduce their costs to a percentage of American wasted healthcare dollars and still cover everyone! If others can do it, so could the US. It just requires the desire to do so.

          • The UNITED STATES is a corporation. It can never be free from corporate control because it is owned by the IMF which is owned by the Vatican, the origniator of ” corporation.” In fact, all governments are now corporations. They don’t care about you or your health. In fact they are actively trying to reduce the population for easier control. Health care systems in other countries are not as solvant as you have been led to believe. Fact facts, until we find a way to rid the world of the NWO crowd, nothing will work as promised.

  4. Trump will …”fix it and fix it fast…”
