Probably the most respected name in allopathic medical circles regarding food, nutrition, and a plant-based-diet is that of Dr Michael Greger, MD, of NutritionFacts.org, author of The New York Times Best Seller book How Not To Die.
Dr Greger is rather passionate about the cavalier pseudoscience the tobacco industry produced regarding the ‘safety’ of cigarette smoking. Personally, I think the American Medical Association’s pitching of a fundamentally harmful consumer product was nothing short of deceitful.
Listening to Dr Greger expound upon how the AMA, and medicine in general, screwed up about tobacco science – not to mention smoking’s corollary diseases, one realizes that leads Dr Greger to take on the medical profession regarding its under-educated minions of ill-informed professionals regarding food science and factual nutrition and to criticize the stranglehold industrial agriculture and food processors have on promoting nutrient-deficient food information.
Here’s that amazing, provocative video about corrupt tobacco science and how that debacle, in retrospect, can be analogized with current food and Big Ag propaganda regarding nutrition and diet.
After listening to Dr Greger, I think readers readily will understand that lung cancer was extremely rare before tobacco use and ads promoted smoking. Didn’t most doctors smoke Camel cigarettes? Did medical professionals repeatedly promote bum dope about health issues? Are they still doing the same regarding medicinal ideology?
Furthermore, doctors even could write a prescription for cigarettes, as per an ad in the Journal of the American Medical Association! Snidely, cigarette makers crowed that no lung tumor was ever found with a little tag attached saying that it was made in the tobacco fields of North Carolina. Would you believe that Congress and taxpayers even subsidized tobacco growers!
Similarly, for decades large monetary outlays from Big Pharma have gone to members of Congress, the CDC and FDA regarding vaccines and pharmaceuticals that are pumped into unsuspecting, and rather gullible, consumers. What roles do lobbyists’ influences on Capitol Hill and at federal government agencies play in deceitful science and product advertising? Shouldn’t that be banned by law?
Moreover, some patients unbelievably are prescribed as many as 25 prescription drugs a DAY! There ought to be mandatory laws against over-prescribing Rxs, since Rx drugs never have been studied for adverse interactions between multiple prescription uses. Specifically, no safety or adverse reaction studies between vaccines actives, e.g., nine vaccines given at one time, have been undertaken or published!
Remarkably, one vaccine acolyte claims children can take as many as 10,000 vaccines at a time!
And yet, the medical profession, especially the AMA, does not call out that doctor to prove such an outrageous claim or retract it! How preposterous are medical science, ethics, and publications when one doctor had his paper retracted because he and several colleagues said the MMR vaccine needed to be studied more for the possibility of involvement with gastrointestinal problems.
With all the toxic chemicals in vaccines, NONE have been proven NOT to cause infertility, cancer, or interfere with reproduction. So where are those studies proving such safety? Where is science-based medicine? Why aren’t those studies demanded by Congress, HHS, CDC, FDA and healthcare consumers, rather than just taking the “cool aid” assurance about vaccine ‘safety’ on Big Pharma’s and physicians’ dogmatic say so? That sounds more like a religious or cult philosophy rather than science-based-medicine! Does it sound like ‘tobacco science’?
What a racket the medical profession obviously had going years ago by hoodwinking federal and state health agencies to believe and accept tobacco’s deliberate science misinformation, as Dr Greger poignantly points out regarding tobacco.
What’s not to say medicine still is playing those same cunning scientific shell games when it comes to vaccines, pharmaceutical drugs, and the food we eat, especially GMO ‘phoods’?

Images collected by The New York Times for their article, “When Doctors, and Even Santa, Endorsed Tobacco” depict “scientific studies” assuring consumers of the safety, even benefits of smoking cigarettes commonsense told everyone else were literally killing people.
