Federal Spending Bill Appropriates Taxpayer Dollars to Be Used to Spread Pro-GMO Propaganda

As more food companies are opting to go “GMO-free” in response to rising public awareness, Monsanto and the biotech industry can count on their friends in government to help counter the movement.

A paragraph tucked into a new spending bill would give the green light for a government propaganda campaign on behalf of GMO giants.

$3,000,000 shall be used by the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, in coordination with the Secretary of Agriculture, for consumer outreach to promote understanding and acceptance of agricultural biotechnology and biotechnology-derived food products and animal feed, including through publication and distribution of science-based educational information on the environmental, nutritional, food safety, economic, and humanitarian benefits of such biotechnology, food products, and feed.

Regardless of your stance on genetically modified foods, government has no place using taxpayer dollars to convince the public that everything about GMOs is perfectly safe. Monsanto spends millions to get lawmakers in its pocket, and the results are obvious here. The biotech industry has managed to put its own into high-level government positions, such as Obama’s choice of a former Monsanto vice president to run the FDA.

The assumption in the spending bill that GMOs provide “environmental, nutritional, food safety, economic, and humanitarian benefits” is not supported by the facts.

The widespread use of genetically modified RoundUp Ready crops has led to a vast increase in the use of glyphosate (the active ingredient in RoundUp) and other herbicides, contrary to industry claims that GMOs would reduce chemical use. These herbicides are a threat to the environment, such as milkweed plants that sustain monarch butterflies.

The practice of GMO monoculture with heavy herbicide and chemical applications is antithetical to environmental health, as it creates a biological desert. The soil is dead, there are no beneficial organisms and there is no thriving microbial community to support plant health. It kills biodiversity, thus reducing environmental quality.

Glyphosate is also a threat to human health. It is a probable carcinogen, according to the World Health Organization, and will be labeled as such in California. While the FDA announced it will begin testing foods for glyphosate, studies are already finding this herbicide to be present in many foods—even organic ones. More than 2.6 billion pounds of glyphosate have been sprayed on U.S. agricultural lands since 1992.

Last year a former GMO scientist revealed how the biotech industry uses junk science to produce misleading risk assessments, which are used by regulators to allow GMO foods on the market. They use purposely flawed, outdated procedures to get the desired results.

Is this the kind of “science-based information” the government wants to give us?

The “humanitarian benefits” of GMOs mentioned in the spending bill likely refer to the idea that GMO crops produce more food. This too is false.

The U.S. government is no stranger to acting as a lobbyist for the biotech industry. In 2013, leaked diplomatic cables revealed that the State Department was busily working to propagandize other countries.

The…WikiLeaks revelations showed that American diplomats had requested funding to send lobbyists for the biotech industry to hold talks with politicians and agricultural officials in “target countries” in areas like Africa and Latin America, where genetically-modified crops were not yet a mainstay, as well as some European countries that have resisted the controversial agricultural practice.

The biotech industry may have lost its bid to have federal government ban the labeling of GMO foods, but it seeks to use the power of the state in other ways. By exposing the corrupt partnership between federal agencies and corporate titans, we can work to prevent the kind of propaganda campaign that is proposed in the spending bill.

  1. This nonsense can be shut down in November. Remove the lunatics from office who vote in favor of this crap.

  2. Unfortunately, my “representatives” are part of this GMO agenda so I can’t use them to squash it and probably won’t get wiser independent individuals to vote for that have the ability to put this incredibly malevolent agenda down.

  3. Pure EVIL

  4. Public interest attorney, Steven Druker, who sued FDA long time ago regarding GMO’s, wrote a book:”Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public”, which gives detailed facts about GMO legality.”

Dr. Anthony Samsel and Stephanie Seneff published an article in JBPC 2015, vol. 15, p.121-159, with the title: “Glyphosate, pathways to modern diseases IV: cancer and related pathologies”, which is of founding importance, since under FOIA it reveals, that Monsanto knew about carcinogenicity of its no1 herbicide, glyphosate since ~80’ies! That implies, that design of all GMO plants, complete artificial patented organisms, consisting of mixture of genes from original plants, pathogenic bacteria and viruses, ‘organisms’ which were made to be resistant to glyphosate (>80% of all GMO’s) and introduced on massive scale starting ~1996, all that happened, while knowing that glyphosate, a carcinogen, will be possibly bound in every single ‘modified’ cell of these new patented seeds=>plants, designed to become our ‘food’. Just recently Dr. Samsel shared few sentences in an AHN article, which described measurement results of glyphosate in most common foods. The results are a catastrophe. Why? According to Dr. Samsel, quote:

“”Glyphosate is a synthetic amino acid and analog of glycine which is one
of our canonical amino acids (MY ADDITION, EQUALLY DEEPLY DISTURBING:
GLYCINE IS NEUROTRANSMITTER, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR EVERYTHING WHAT WE
DO AND THINK!). Bioaccumulation of glyphosate, by mis-‐incorporation
into protein structure is disastrous to the biology of all living
things. This herbicide should never have been allowed onto the market.
Monsanto’s own sealed trade secret studies show that glyphosate bioaccumulates in all tissues.^9 Bioaccumulation of this
    synthetic
amino acid leads to tissue destruction at the molecular level, a cell
at a time. Monsanto found destruction of every gland and organ of
laboratory animals during long-‐term chronic studies.
However, they dismissed all findings through the use of unrelated historical controls.”

  5. Disgusting. It’s part of a luciferian eugenics agenda. All the life-destroying tactics only make sense when you find that luciferians run this country – and the planet… or at least WANT to and are TRYING to. Apparently they are required to have our approval for their nefarious ways, so I say things like, “NO ONE has my permission to harm me in any way” and variations on that theme. You may have given permission unknowingly simply by not opposing their agenda… so withdraw that permission consciously now. Tell others as well. NO ONE has my permission to harm me – or anyone else – or this planet – in any way.

    • Setting the record straight (I am neither a Satanist NOR a Luciferian!):

      http://gnosticwarrior.com/lucifer-satan.html

Nothing in the Bible suggests Lucifer and Satan are the same being.

      • Nonsense. Learn to read the Bible rightly.

      • True, William. From what I understand from people I’ve met, they are distinct from one another. They are not synonyms to be used interchangeably. In fact, two people who were raised by Luciferians scolded and lectured me on the differences, which it took me a while to grok, until one of them explained the astrology behind them. Lucifer as the “morning star” is connected to Venus, which is the planet visible when the sun rises. Venus rules love, art, beauty and wealth. Satan, on the other hand, is connected to the planet Saturn which rules everything dark and cold, hard and empty – all the “press” words such as oppress, compress, suppress, depress, and so on. These people explained to me that those who pledge allegiance to Lucifer are “upper class” naughty people, while Satanists are the more “garden variety” naughty people. They say that the very wealthy Luciferians think of Satanists as their lackeys. Luciferians are very well organized and globally connected. Satanists are local groups that might be manipulated by Luciferians but they are not behind the NWO (New World Order); they are minions of the Luciferians. At any rate, that is how it was explained to me. I do believe that Luciferians are often also Satanists.

  6. They will waste and spend as much as they want, but keep in mind, in about 9 months things are going to change. Praise God! We will have someone in there that really cares about this Country and its people!

    • Who are you talking about? This someone? One of our presidential candidates? (I wouldn’t hold my breath) I’d love to hear more from the Amish…they’ve (you’ve?) got the right program for humans as far as I am concerned. Too bad it has to be around religion but for once religion is doing a good thing. Wish the Amish life could be promoted without religion, seriously.

  7. Onetree, Call them out in the newspaper and here on the internet show people who they are. So that your helping to defeat them in any of the elections. This is how defeat them by exposing them to others I’m doing the same thing in NM with my sen. and my congressman. We have a great Govenor and the rest is not helping this state at all

    • So you’ve been able to get media to actually talk about this? For real? Kudos. I’ve been trying and I have been labeled as a conspiracy theorist even though I am a botanical expert, soils…how did you manage to get an article in the newspaper?

      • Your local paper and all over the internet. I just try on what ever site Im on. I think there are people checking the sites to to see how the reaction to people are being received. And I just keep putting my 2 sense in and just hope it gets through to people that it is now or never. We are in a very bad shape and its going to take all of us to pull ourselves up by the boot straps and move forward. If it is all of us it will be less painful.

        • Yup. We are so antagonistic to our own country men…with whatever issue we what to whine about. Incredible. I am seeing a nightmare happening for our TEAM. If we don’t get together we are so very screwed. Definitely painful.

  8. Proving, yet again, the DeCeipt crowd are the puppets driven by the NWO gold collar scum crowd.
    buy ORGANICS.

  9. Don’t look for Obama to veto or even say anything negative about this spending. He’s just another empty suit. Shillary will be more of the same.

  10. As we all know, money is the great motivator of government. Things that are good for the people do not need lobbyists and corrupt dealings because they are readily accepted. Only bad things need corruption to make them happen. It is too bad that the entire political system is corrupt and only liars cheats and thieves can get elected to office, but knowing the type of people that are the politicians we must not allow them to use their greed to harm us with GMO and other programs of health and safety. Normally, I’m for technology and science, but where the government is concerned, we must be hyper vigilant.

  11. I wonder how much people realize the difference between a government promoting the idea of
individuals/groups/families learning how to grow food for themselves and in the process experience the awesome feeling of creative self-sufficiency – instead of selling Monsanto’s message (of reliance on Frankenfood, the grocery store and every other manner of dependencies) and oodles of easily corralled masses.
