Fukushima? 10,000 Dead Squid Wash up on Chile Beach

By Melissa Dykes

It is being referred to as Cthulhu-geddon.

Squid have washed up on Santa Maria Island off Chile this week in what some have described as biblical proportions. Thousands of dead and dying squid are piled up on the shore. While some squid normally do wash up this time of year, it’s never been in this large of a quantity.

Exact reason for this die-off is unknown, but some experts claim it might be a sudden drop in oxygen content in the water or an increase in water temperatures. They just really don’t know.

Of course, just like all the other mass die-offs up and down the Pacific coast in recent years, no one in any official capacity is pointing to the Fukushima disaster, still dumping tons of radioactive water into the sea as it has been for the last half a decade now just across the globe from Chile.

  1. Might I suggest that, since Chile is located in the ring of fire region, that it was underwater volcanic action that starved the deep layer of ocean of oxygen? There is much ado, volcanically, going on in the world right now and we will see much more “earthquakes in divers places”. We will see many more fish and mammals washed up on shorelines. We will also hear of much more El Nino activity as the oceans warm due to these underwater island-makers.

    • This sounds possible. Still continual dumping of plutonium waste into the Pacific & documented dead zones could also be contributing. Simply put why is no one out their testing the squid for radiation poisoning?

  2. If you know the causes

  3. The Pacific ocean eastern shores region especaily Mexico has had a recent history of very massive growth in numbers of Squids some years before Fuchshima .This could be natrual rise in numbers of squid or could be Squid are taking over to replace the diminishing fish from overfishing .Nobody knows in this time why sqid populations are exploding but fishermen enjoy it squid cathes are way up .It might be the squid population has exceeded the abailty of the ocean in that region to support these large numbers .Just saying as I am not a marine expert .

  4. There will be an avalanche of advertising for Mrs. Paul’s ‘fish sticks’, or every Italian restaurant in the western hemisphere will be having ‘scungilli specials’.

With all the scientist knowing so much, they fail to do simple investigations of the cause.

To ignore Fukushima and the nuclear pollution is seemingly unwise if not deliberate political B S .

it is suspected that this is another distraction to keep the public from knowing how much is actually going on.

Then again perhaps we, collectively, really don’t want to know what is coming.

The drama goes on and on blessings

This article claims Fukushima is being ignored. Does that really mean it is? I seem to recall billions in aid being poured into its clean up. People like to imagine that you can just say SCIENCE and magically solutions to enormously large and complex problems become illuminated. You mean its apparent to this jackass the effect Fukushima has on the ocean, but not to International Nuclear Regulatory Commisions. Or conversely that these Commisions should release reports before they have concluded official study and investigation. Also if it is giant amounts of radioactive contamination in ocean precisely what Star Trek level technology do you believe we have to clean that up? I’m not saying we shouldn’t try but kind of sad I bothered reading the comments or this poorly written article.

  6. Wrong hemisphere to blame Fukushima.

    • Yeah, I know, the Pacific Ocean divides at the equator and the waters north of the equator NEVER mix with the waters of south of the equator, huh?

      • Brilliant reply, thank you!

        • I guess we shouldn’t wonder. Much of our youth were never really taught to think…….logically and rationally, that is.
Oh, they know about the latest iPhone and that the present generation can choose their own gender. It’s just a shame. I hope it’s not too late for them. The future is going to be ever more dangerous for the ignorant.

  7. Keep voting the thugs in folks .

  8. It is a good video image, but this is not at all astonishing phenomenon for squid or marine life. These are jumbo flying squid (Dosidicus gigas) distributed in the eastern coast of south and north America. And in each several year or ten years these have been observed. We don’t know exactly why these happen but we supposed squid were affected a abnormal oceanographic condition (poor oxygen, higher temperature, etc), earthquake or for escapement from large predators, etc.

  9. No, not really possible radiation from the western Pacific would affect squid in the eastern Pacific. As with birds in Alaska, the squid are starving as warming ocean waters are depleted of nutrients. The same thing is happening in many lakes and oceans around the world.

  10. Maybe those squid didn’t wanna live in a polluted ocean anymore and decided to collectively step through the door. Just like the bees are doing. I may be wrong but it looks like humanity is soon to experience karma, in biblical proportions.
