ADHD Drug Ritalin® Reviewed by the Cochrane Library

ADHDBy Catherine J. Frompovich

This is a “heads up” and “take notice” recommendation for parents whose children routinely are taking the most frequently prescribed ADHD prescription drug Ritalin®.

Late in November of 2015, the prestigious Cochrane Library issued its report “Benefits and harms of methylphenidate for children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)”, which you may want to know about and consider seriously.

One of the conclusions the authors of that report came up with is that “Better designed trials are needed to assess the benefits of methylphenidate [Ritalin®].”

Rather than my parsing the report, I think it would be wise for parents of ADHD children, who have questions, to print that Cochrane report, study it carefully, and discuss it with your child’s managing physician who prescribed the drug.

Why do I say that? Well, under “Main Results,” the findings in Primary and Secondary Outcomes may be of particular interest to you, including the drug’s impacts relative to your child/children, especially “teacher-rated ADHD symptoms.”

Other Cochrane Library resources for children with attention and social interaction issues include:

Social skills training for children aged between 5 and 18 with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Medications for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children with tics

I have one further comment: Check out the ingredients of the vaccines your children are being forced to receive, since they contain numerous toxic ingredients, which could be impacting your child’s/children’s behavioral problems. Here’s a website that lists most of the vaccine package inserts, which parents need to read, especially these sections: Contraindications, Warnings, Precautions, Adverse Reactions and then the Description, which lists ingredients, after which you probably will understand more about vaccines than you thought possible.

  1. You’re giving your kids SPEED

  2. Kudos to all who push back against big pharma and the big lie.
    THANK YOU Catherine –
I hope all parents head this dire warning – big pharma is not your friend.

  3. From observation of an associate and their ADHD son who was prescribed Ritalin and subsequently watching him mature into adulthood, it was apparent that Ritalin’s long-term effect was to dull his thought processes. As an 8/9 year old he was bright, very bright but could not focus on any topic for more than a few seconds and was destructive so was prescribed Ritalin which dulled both his behaviour and his thought processes. In the years that followed his thought processes remained dull and they have never recovered.

A hobby which I pursued for years is pharmaceuticals and I knew of a few pills which might benefit him; this was prior to him being prescribed Ritalin. There were a number which benefited him but one in particular was excellent. It was Hydergine prescribed for the early signs of senility but which had a number of interesting off-lable uses that were ignored by the pharmaceutical company. This drug is non-toxic, non-addictive, it is not a narcotic, nor is it contraindicated. It is, in fact, benign and should not have been on prescription. About three years ago it was removed from licence in the UK by NICE when the pharmaceutical company modified it slightly to retain its patent. Anything to make a profit and to hold the Government to ransom.

Remarkably, when the boy took the drug at 4.5 mg his behaviour became normal and focused during which time he displayed a lovely intelligent nature. The effect lasted for 4 hours and by the 6 hour it had worn-off. It could be deduced that by administering this drug, say every 5 hours, it would effectively control his behaviour without any adverse side-effect. When his parents consulted the GP he dismissed this experience as if he himself has tried it which he obviously had not! He then placed the boy on Ritalin which has since dulled his intellect and from which he has never recovered.

Hydergine also controls the symptoms of apnoea (about 2.5 mg prior to retiring) and clears the mind of brain fog. The only side effect, when asleep, is that it makes one aware of dreaming but this diminishes through regular use. It is time the Government became aware of how it is being mugged by the (banned) cartel of the pharmaceutical industry.

  4. Interesting article. I’d heard this years ago and always thought that how could this be a disease when there was no brain pathology involved:

ADHD is a “Fictitious Disease” According To Its Founderhttp://iheartintelligence(dot)com/2015/11/11/adhd-fictitious-disease/

In his last interview before his death, the “scientific father of ADHD” –
Leon Eisenberg, said: “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious
disease.” According to Psychiatric News, Eisenberg received the “Ruane
Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Research. He has been a leader
in child psychiatry for more than 40 years through his work in
pharmacological trials, research, teaching, and social policy and for
his theories of autism and social medicine.” So, why in the end would a
man discredit his own body of work after so many years? Guilty
