No, Thanks! to Michelle Obama’s “Nutritious” School Breakfasts

A colleague sent me the article “On What Planet is Michelle Obama Breakfast Considered Healthy?” [1] and, as a retired consulting natural nutritionist in physicians’ offices and private practice, I wanted to throw up! Here’s the photograph of the supposed breakfast served to a high schooler in Lubbock, Texas, as posted on a Facebook page:

Nutritionally speaking, it looks like something you would pick up after taking your dog for a walk. Not only that, there is very little nutritional content, either in quantity or quality, for a high school kid to start his/her day. Now, I’d like to offer my analysis of the ‘breakfast’, so here goes:

  1. Not balanced!
  2. Too many starches, which will play havoc with blood sugar levels: corn tortilla*, 3 tater tots, which can be a mixture of many ingredients [potatoes, vegetable oil (sunflower, cottonseed*, soybean*, and/or canola*), salt, yellow corn flour*, onions, dextrose (sugar [2]), disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate [3], natural flavoring*]. *probable GM ingredients
  3. Bacon bits ingredients, which basically are highly processed, chemicalized and probable GM starches that could impact a student’s ability negatively to concentrate; experience blood sugar metabolism problems—even exacerbate juvenile diabetes; plus hype up any ADD/ADHD tendencies; cause allergic reactions, indigestion or digestive/bowel distress.
  4. This ‘breakfast’ is nothing short of unmitigated junk food, in my professional opinion, which should not be served as a ‘nutritious’ meal—or even as a snack—under any circumstances to anyone, especially a growing child who needs all the viable nutrition he/she can eat during the course of a day.
  5. If corn (grain) and soy (legume) are being considered complementary proteins, they certainly aren’t ‘packaged’ and presented in either an appetizing or nutritious manner, i.e., highly processed and chemicalized.
  6. No: fruit—apple, applesauce, baby banana, or fruit cup, quality fiber, nuts or seeds.
  7. No: milk, yogurt, or milk (almond, etc.) or yogurt (soy, almond, etc.) substitutes [4].
  8. No whole grains such as those found in granola cereal or granola bars.

Here’s my idea of a nutritious breakfast for high school kids, which can be modified to include variety:

A. Serving of fresh fruit, fruit cup, or applesauce cup

B. Whole grain Granola bar

C. Protein offering of: Hard cooked egg, dairy or non-dairy yogurt cup

D. Side of raisins, sunflower seeds

E. Serving of milk or non-dairy milk substitute

Students should be encouraged to take raisins and sunflower seeds with them to eat as snacks later in the day. Additionally, the school food staff could make in-house, an inexpensive “Trail Mix” that could be added to the breakfast and luncheon menus.

It truly is a shame that the USA can’t provide nutrient-rich food for children in schools.

  1. Hey Catherine-

A few months back one of my favorite geopolitical analysts, Eric Draitser, put a call out on Facebook for recommendations re: qualified nutritional/health experts, I suggested you and copy/pasted your little bio that comes with your articles here. I don’t know if he ever reached out to you, and I haven’t seen a piece from him concerning gmos or any other thing like that, but I didn’t see any better recommendations so, maybe, you might be interested in reaching out to him? I don’t know but he’s great, his website is, that alone should tell you a lot about him. Smart dude, great analyst, I’d love it if he were going to pursue research on these issues he were to consult with you. Anyways, just a thought, heads up, do as you will. Great work as always.

Thank YOU, ColinJames71, for your kind comments about my work and recommending me and my work to others. I am truly honored! However, I do believe the media is not ready for my work due to all the brainwashing, plus doubts created in the public’s collective mind frame; that’s extremely hard to get thru to and past for individuals so programmed.
Please know that at 77 y/o I will continue trying to bring enlightenment about issues that affect human health. After all, I’ve been at this since the late 1970s.
      Thanks again; very much appreciated.

      • Hey it’s all good. For all I know it may have been just out of personal interest, he’s busy enough dissecting msm lies about war and various geopolitical bs as you are about health issues. Maybe more busy these days, events being as they are. Tight race that’s for sure 🙂

  2. If you are a young girl, you certainly do not want to eat what she ate growing up, look what it did to Man-shelle.

  3. Mr. obama and his empty promises. Or is that his husband. Thanks for making the USA weak.

  4. I sure wish those in the alternative news community would BEGIN to speak to BioEngineered NanoFoods or Engineered NanoMaterials (ENM), as the chemical/bio food engineers refer to it. This is such a massive undisclosed elephant in our collective room.

Bioengineered Nanofoods have been in our food systems for over a decade w/o any regulatory oversite and in over 800 products from everything from nanoencapsulated “oxygen absorbers” to increase shelf life of beer, milk, etc. to nanotech taste bud “enhancers” which fool our taste buds to liking chemically engineered foods to RFID chips to track and monitor COOL (Country of Origin) w/o having to label the fruit anymore.

Because of the atomic, and sub-atomic size of the particles it enters ours, and our children’s building immune systems through the blood into tissue and brain and is known, in lab rats, to cause illness to kidney, spleen, colon, and lungs as well as being a known carcinogen (cancer causing)

Nano technology is a trillion dollar, completely under the radar, business that has subversively been engineered into all facets of our consuming lives, and is most especially dangerous to our food systems.
Please watch this video and make it go viral, if you find it useful.

  5. Michael, er…Michelle trans-gendered Commie Marxist. He / She is trying to get kids used to starvation and rationing like a good socialist would.

  6. The president’s husband you mean….

  7. Well, parents, if your kids don’t have time to eat at school because of waiting in line and the kids don’t like the unhealthy foods that are being served, then, parents, make their lunch so they can take it to school with them and eat what they like. Then feed them a healthy hot meal at dinnertime, oh, and before they go to school feed them a hot healthy breakfast.

  8. In elementary and public h.s., it is the Fed gov’t who controls the money. they give the schools money based on financial needs. When those with the most financial needs eat school food, the Feds reimburse the schools. when those more well off bring their own foods, the school receives less money from the Fed’s and must supplement food costs then out of the school budget from other places.

Additionally, Fed/State food laws make highly restrictive regulations on what farm food can be used in the schools which makes it cost prohibitive to localize foods.

Sysco systems supplies much of the school food and is subsidized by the Feds. Our apples in our school now are coming from the Dept of Defense at no cost to the school!! WTF??

Grow your own, make your own, stop eating sickly food provided by those who care nothing about your child.

  9. From Catherine Frompovich:

Here are photos taken by kids in a Prince Georges County, Maryland, school of the moldy ‘food’
they are served to eat! What’s going on serving disease-causing stuff to school children?
