A recent Gallup poll found that the major political parties in the United States are seeing their lowest popularity levels in recent memory.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans fall well below 50% in terms of approval, with 39% viewing the Democratic party favorable and 37% viewing the Republican party favorable.
Since 1992 Gallup has been recording how much support each party has with the general population, and this is the lowest numbers that the polls have had since they began.
Last week we reported that President Obama suggested making voting mandatory, so people had not choice but to participate in the political system.
Mandatory voting has actually already been implemented in places like Oregon, and the idea is gaining popularity among politicians.
If the government actually counted the people who voted for no one, then we wouldn’t have to worry about having a president, because the people who refuse to participate in the political system have technically won every election.
