While reports state that Iran and six major world powers have reached a deal to curb the country’s nuclear program, another report citing an Iranian news agency states that they are planning to build two new nuclear power plants.

This comes after the Iranian foreign minister said that Iran’s “right” to enrich uranium is “inalienable” and non-negotiable.

While the agreement hasn’t been published publicly at this point, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced via Twitter on Saturday that the negotiators came to some agreement:

French Foreign Minister Lauren Fabius also confirmed that the UK, U.S., Russia, China, France and Germany reached a deal with Iran, though no details are available as of yet, according to the BBC.

The Washington Post, however, reports that the deal requires Iran to “halt or scale back parts of it nuclear infrastructure” for the first time in over 10 years.

Michael Mann, spokesman for the European Union’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, also confirmed the deal.

Unidentified diplomatic sources told The Washington Post that the deal was assisted by “an 11th-hour intervention by U.S. Secretary of State John F. Kerry and other foreign ministers from Europe, Russia and China.”

However, the Jerusalem Post cites a report from the Iranian Fars News Agency that quoted a senior Iranian nuclear official who reportedly said that the country is planning to build two new nuclear power plants in the near future.

“The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has put construction of the second and third (nuclear) power stations on its agenda due to the government’s programs and the emphasis laid by the President (Hassan Rouhani),” AEOI Deputy Chief Hossein Khalfi said, according to Fars.

The report was published before anyone announced that a deal had been reached. It is unclear if this statement and the reported plans will be abandoned given the latest deal.
