Will Americans Be Conned into War Again by the WMD Mirage?

IAEA vague claims against Iran is deja vu

It’s that time again, our government is ready to add yet another country to their growing list of “enemies.” Anyone who remembers the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq must get deja vu when hearing some of the most recent threats to come out of Washington, concerning Iran.

Many activists and researchers have seen this coming for a very long time as conquering Iran is an essential task for the West in the creation of their Middle Eastern empire. We have also been tipped off by the numerous times that our government has attempted to instigate conflict with Iran, only to have the whole concept rejected by the world community as well as Americans back home. This rejection has delayed the drive to war, but it certainly hasn’t changed the plan.

Iran is a much more complicated situation than the half dozen other countries that have already been invaded in this conquest, it’s far more delicate. Iran’s population and military capabilities far surpass that of Iraq and Afghanistan, it is one of the most powerful countries in the Middle East and has been for a very long time. Despite their immense power and influence in the region they have not waged a foreign conflict in over a century, and they don’t pose much of a threat today either. However, they are still being demonized because they don’t comply with Anglo-American business interests like the extremely brutal and fascist dictatorship in Saudi Arabia does.

The excuse that is being given to the American people for all this aggression toward Iran is the same sorry excuse that was given to us for Iraq, “weapons of mass destruction”. We now know that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction at all; the informant was lying about them [1], and to make matters worse Bush knew that the informant was lying [2]. Bush didn’t care in the least, he was willing to do and say anything that would scare the American people into accepting a war. This was because he was taking direct orders from the CIA and other international think-tanks such as the CFR and Trilateral Commission. The military industrial complex needed to make the American public fear that their lives were in danger so they could set their policy into motion.

Different governments throughout the world and throughout history have applied these same techniques to manipulate their people into war. This point is made quite clear by Hermann Goering, founder of the Gestapo and one of the main architects of Nazi Germany when he said, “It is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship… All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.” [3]

This same approach is used by our government today, just as it was used by one of the most murderous and oppressive regimes in history, the Nazi party. The people in Nazi Germany during World War 2 are no different than the flag-waving Americans who got caught up in nationalistic fervor during the so-called war on terror — both were manipulated into fighting by their “leaders” in the same fashion.

The honest hardworking people that make up a country’s population have absolutely nothing to gain from all this violence. We are the ones who die in wars, our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers die in war. Yet the spoils of war are not seen by the people who fight or their families; that is saved for the people who are behind the banking, politics, and the war industry.

Companies like Dick Cheney’s infamous Halliburton, which gets paid billions of dollars to rebuild the countries destroyed by his own government’s war. Halliburton is just one example; there are countless arms dealers, weapons manufactures and other wartime industries directly tied with the banking industry and the government. This kind of monopoly creates a huge conflict of interest within the highest levels of our government. How can we expect our “leaders” to make decisions that are in the best interests of the people if they stand to make billions of dollars for sending us to war?

There was once a time in our history where governments were able to convince us that entire countries were filled evil savages that had to be dealt with in order to ensure the safety of the “homeland”. This myth will no longer stand, just like so many other myths that pass with every generation, as our consciousness matures and we develop more civilized ways of interacting on the planet. Unfortunately, those who are clutching onto the levers of power refuse to let our species grow past these destructive and infantile memes. They wish for us to remain in the stone age where slavery, war, serfdom and oppression are commonplace.

Now that the general human temperament is far more caring and peaceful, we are forced into wars in the name of defense, peace, liberation and humanitarianism as opposed to pillage, conquest and control. The hundreds of thousands of civilians killed in Iraq [4] were not “liberated,” nor did the occupation bring any peace to Iraq or safety to the United States. Likewise, the recent “humanitarian” invasion of Libya left the country’s infrastructure in shambles [5], its future uncertain and an untold number of civilians killed.

We cannot possibly sustain the wars we are already in, so there is no way this empire will make it through a conflict with Iran, and all the conflicts that this would inevitably lead to. Russia has already warned that an attack on Iran would bring grave consequence upon the West, revealing that this could very well spark a third world war. [6] The future of this developing crisis is unknown, but one thing is for sure, this new conflict will proceed as scheduled if the American people don’t make a lot of noise and refuse to support it. As the US and NATO become more aggressive in the Middle East we must be just as vigilant in peacefully opposing the unjust wars that are taking place in our name.
