Flashback: A Nuclear Incident “Worse Than Three Mile Island,” Covered Up For Forty Five Years

This is further proof that nuclear disasters and radiation releases have happened in America and have been covered up each and every time. This disaster that happened in 1959 was covered up for over forty five years!

Before the Fukushima nuclear disaster, this partial meltdown caused the third largest release of radioactive iodine in history, yet Boeing and our government openly covered up the scale of the disaster for decades.

“In 1959 a partial meltdown occurred at the Boeing-Rocketdyne nuclear testing facility, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The incident released the third greatest amount of radioactive iodine in nuclear history. But no one really heard about it until Boeing recently settled a class-action suit filed by local residents,” reported Living On Earth in 2006.

The facts of this disaster that occurred only 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles, were only released after a hard fought law suite brought the cover up to the end.

According to numerous reports, the Boeing-Rocketdyne nuclear testing facility had various meltdowns throughout the years that were bad enough that the company had to compensate local citizens for the damage it caused.

Workers at the plant in question were not so lucky. The company has publicly stated that workers were NOT exposed to high levels of radiation and denied former employees workers compensation.

The cover up was so criminal that five weeks after the disaster, the Atomic Energy Commission released a report that stated NO radiation had been released. At least two other nuclear disasters at the same facility were also downplayed or outright ignored.

A History Channel documentary partially exposed this horrible disaster. The plant actually restarted a reactor core AFTER problems were discovered.

In 1959 a partial meltdown occurred at the Boeing-Rocketdyne nuclear testing facility, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The incident released the third greatest amount of radioactive iodine in nuclear history.(Before Fukushima) But no one really heard about it until Boeing recently settled a class-action suit filed by local residents. The plaintiffs complained of nuclear-related cancers and thyroid abnormalities caused by proximity to the facility. Host Steve Curwood talks with Dr. Arjun Makhijani, who provided scientific testimony for the case, and Bonnie Klea, who was a secretary at the Boeing facility for eleven years following the 1959 accident.

That’s right, various partial meltdowns have happened in America that have been subsequently covered up by the companies and government officials involved.

How can we trust the various government agencies currently involved in radiation testing when their history is ripe with criminal cover ups?

This also proves that even though radioactive iodine 131 has a short half life, eight days is plenty of time to effect the milk and food supply.

In this video you can see Scott from believersunderground, a frequent Intel Hub Contributor, describe the area. Houses are being built all around the facility.
