Americans are no longer solution oriented — they observe their own progressing doom as they do a movie, occasionally blinking, but mostly just sitting there waiting to see how it ends.
That being established, they needn’t bother. Any intelligent person knows how it must end.
Even those “investigating” are a waste. As if at this late date uncovering one more aspect of the million and one acts of sabotage against us is going to make any difference. Investigating becomes an obsession — all thought of bringing the criminal to justice, of stopping him before he kills again, in fact before he takes over the town is put out of their minds. The last thing they want to be bothered with is someone with a solution that would require them walking away from their computers and uniting with real people in a fight to avert their common destruction. DOOM!
