Town’s Entire Police Force Quits, Doesn’t Devolve Into Lawlessness

By Aaron Kesel

The entire police force of Sand Point, Alaska quit in July in a matter of just three weeks, leaving the town without any authoritative presence, and the transition has been smooth without any type of state enforcement agent.

Sand Point, an Alaskan island town with a population of about 1,000, had a police force of three officers and a police chief mid-July.

That’s when the officers, two of whom were a married couple, began to quit one after the other and then finally the police chief himself resigned.

City Administrator Andrew Varner said that the first officer wanted to be closer to a spouse who is in the military. A week later, two more officers, a married couple, left because of a “family decision.”

That left Sand Point police chief, Roger Bacon, who then decided to take a long-planned month-long vacation to Scotland. This decision cost him his job as a “mutual understanding” was reached between Bacon and the city council that if he left he wouldn’t be returning to his post.

“There was sort of a mutual understanding that if he left to go for a month-long journey — leaving the community with no law enforcement — that if he came back, he would not be an employee of the city,” Varner said. “Within a day or two, he had turned in his resignation.”

On July 20, the city of Sand Point released a press release calling for calm, stating that while the police department was “in transition,” citizens should “rest assured that the community will not be in a lawless state.”

Since the departure of the police force, the town has been calm. No more arrests and charges for fishing without a license, speeding down a public road or any of the other outrageous things that police across the nation try to enforce in the name of the state against the private individual citizen.

There was no Purgelike behavior, people weren’t killing each other without the police as is depicted in movies as propaganda for justifying the need for authoritative structure.

“Sand Point did not devolve into mass lawlessness,” Varner said.

“It’s not like the movie ‘The Purge,’ “in which all criminal activity becomes legal for a 12-hour period,” Alaskan State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.

“Everyone was busy fishing, which was great,” Austin Roof, the general manager of the local public radio station KSDP 830 AM said.

Unfortunately, the paradise of not being harassed by state storm troopers won’t last long for the citizens of Sand Point.

The town has since chosen a new interim police chief, Hal Henning, the former police chief of Seldovia, Varner said.

Additionally, Sand Point will be further patrolled by Alaska State Troopers until they rebuild their armada.

  1. Wow, a small Alaskan town with a population of 1,000 had it’s entire police force of 4 people quit, the town hasn’t devolved into chaos in just a few days, what a great argument for no police!

    God Libertarians are fucking morons

    • God Socialist status quo free sh_t Army boot lickers are morons.
I just love to look at all the shining socialist achievements across the globe.
Please plant plenty of trees to reduce your air sucking resource wasting useless ass carbon foot print if your masters allow it.

    • You’re in ‘good’ company. The Pope recently attacked Libertarians for espousing individual freedom instead of embracing the collectivist Hive mentality.

    • Police aren’t necessary in small rural communities. I’ve lived in them, there was no crime. I’ve lived in big cities that were more or less completely controlled by government and corporations (especially banking, specifically Wall Street), and it always seemed that a police presence, especially against a mostly disarmed public, caused more stress than it relieved.

I’m back to living in a small community with gun toting neighbors and large dogs, and we don’t need police here, either.

      Peace.

  2. Just don’t let the beanies and MS13 members know about this small town….as they will take it over in a heartbeat and make it a northern hub for their drug empires!!!

  3. If push comes to shove, these individuals will do what is right, not as a government employee, but because what is right. I Salute!!

  6. The police department creates the chaos, then profits from it. Same song over and over and over…

The only reason you think that government is the solution is because you think that freedom is the problem.

  8. A town in Alaska of 1,000 people isn’t going to devolve into chaos all of a sudden. Like many small towns in Alaska, most of the population is armed or has firearms in their homes leading to a big deterrent of casual burglary and impoliteness.

If Los Angeles PD officers walked out over the course of a week things would be much different.

  9. Sand Point didn’t have a Police state attitude – but with the State Troopers moving in – they will now. Alaskan 33 yrs.

  10. This article highlights the Statist ( Torys) reaction to loss of their programed expectations and the Libertarians ( Real American patriots) cheering.
The people of this nation has been dumbed down in education and given over to authority worship instead of taught to think and be responsible. These instances terrify the tyranny minded escalating their efforts in using intimidation and fear through the deep state gestapo control freaks that evolve out of socialism/communism and lack of accountability.
Free men are an anathema to this nobles & serf system that has sought to destroy every republic that has surfaced in history. Only after a calamitous paradigm shift in geopolitics does the realization dawn on an ignorant population they have been had.
Standing up first in your family and community to state the truth and pointing out the blindness of your fellow countrymen and leaders will not be popular and if your a manpleaser , just disregard this.
Leave a REAL legacy as a Father and Mother instead of fleeting possessions and teach your children/grandchildren how to think for themselves, be prolific, and spot brainwashing lies and propaganda starting even with their favorite idiot box shows. After all, their memories can reflect how right you were or can be replaces by the B.S. the corrupted media fills their head with so their posterity( And yours) can be harvested by the parasitic class that produces nothing but lives off of the backs of those who do Both are doomed to die with dashed hopes and under an oppressive self proclaimed ruling class where there is no truth or beauty except in their vision for you.
    You choose.

      • Shallow Hal huh? If this your method of reasoning you are an education waiting to happen? HATE COPS is not the issue. Obeying the law of the land is.
If two thugs on the street steps out of an alley way , puts a gun in my face, and orders me to give him my money, then this is a thief and a law breaker.
If later down the block a guy wearing a suit steps out with his partner wearing a uniform , badge, and gun then orders the uniform to put his gun in my face and order me to give him my money, how different is that from the thugs who are lawbreakers too.
If the uniform and suit guys disobey their oath of office to violate me with force then they are criminals as well. The only difference is that there are so many rules and regulations with the COLOR of law that once an arrest is made you have no idea what charges or how many they can pile onto you and wreck your life. If you choose to respond to this please think instead of being a Boobus Americanus parrot.

        • Peace Officer may be the correct word to use. Been there, done that.. Hypothetical situations really do happen, however, I can not respond to your insane ones. Every situation is different, therefore, there is no such thing as routine. There is normal, which means that each situation could escalate. You demean the 99.9% honest COPS, because of an incident you may have heard of. I know of a couple, but, they didn’t remain on the Force very long.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUUZ2fKVqcs

  11. I am happy for Sand Point, AK. I would pray it could work in bigger populations, but don’t think that is possible with 1/2 the population being given welfare, and the like. A Point I agree with in the article is some of the things it mentions people are cited for. I agree, most are stupid especially driving citations. All that is is money generation for the the agency, city, county. Has nothing to do with law enforcement. THAT being said there is a Criminal Element in most populations that don’t listen to GOD’s LAWS or those that localities have enacted.

    • Indeed there is a “Criminal Element in most populations,” but in a well-armed population, someone looking for trouble is more likely to look elsewhere. For everything else not deterred by the thought of high-velocity lead poisoning or rock salt in the ass, 4 large dogs work as a proper deterrent, too.

Large cities only need (sarc) a police force when it is a disarmed citizenry (a la NYC, a la Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Los Angeles, etc.) are scared into believing that they’re not capable of defending themselves or leaving peacefully. Forced integration in otherwise traditional neighborhoods of like-minded people (China Town, Little Italy, Gerritsen Beach, etc.) tends to breed tension and distrust because of common way of life has suddenly been altered, sometimes without any warning.

Anyway, the criminal element can be kept to a minimum when enough honest neighbors get to know each other, all are armed with some type of firearm, and know who belongs in the neighborhood and who doesn’t.

      Peace.

  12. Sorta like Costa Rica; they abolished their military, and have lived in peace ever since!
That’s why many U.S. Veterans retire there, and in other Central and South American countries…

  13. Go look at the website Mass Privatel.
Costa Rica abolished it’s Military, & has had peace ever since!
Many Americans, (& Veterans especially) have moved there to retire or run their businesses out of CR and other Central / South American countries!

    • I keep hearing nothing but good things about Costa Rica, especially by ex-pats. As a veteran myself, it wouldn’t be such a bad idea for me and my wife, although I can’t leave my dogs.

      Peace.

  14. Now… If we could just get most states to tell AIPAC-owned FED to “piss off” and secede we could begin rebuilding our home states as they SHOULD be.
Ahh well, as the old saying goes; “crap in one hand and wish in the other – see which one fills up first”.

  15. There probably aren’t many blacks living in Sand Point and if there were the citizenry would take care of any threats to the peace. .

  16. I live in a old CA gold rush mining town, 300 people, no grocery store, no gas station, so fabulously free of those filthy murderous pigs. And life is sheer, sheer bliss. No trouble, peaceful, we take care of each other, and police on our own. 98% of people just mind their business, and everyone owns guns.
