U.S. Marshals Biometric Scan Passenger Retinas To Board Flight: “Like Everyone Else, I Complied”

By Mac Slavo

During the war on terrorism, Americans compromised their liberties to fight for freedom. Now, during the war on immigration, Americans will again be compelled to sacrifice liberties for American sovereignty.

In the name of security, anywhere, anytime. All measures will be justified, everyone will be authorized and the population will be controlled.

That is the moment we have arrived at in America.

A combination of policies that President Obama put into place, as well as fresh executive orders put in place by President Trump, have created a new front in the world of national security. They are now using biometrics to verify passport and identity, in the name of cracking down on immigration.

Additional scrutiny, and an over-bearing scent of Gestapo is again cropping up in airports, as yet another layer of surveillance is added to the line up.

Here’s a look at one version of the machines now being tested and phased in at airports and other checkpoints:

Both visitors from abroad, and American citizens alike have now been required to submit to biometric iris scans in order to board a flight. Wow.

via Jeffrey Tucker of the Foundation of Economic Education:

For some 15 years, airport security has become steadily more invasive. There are ever more checkpoints, ever more requests for documents as you make your way from the airport entrance to the airplane. Passengers adapt to the new changes as they come. But my latest flight to Mexico, originating in Atlanta, presented all passengers with something I had never seen before.

We had already been through boarding pass checks, passport checks, scanners, and pat downs. At the gate, each passenger had already had their tickets scanned and we were all walking on the jet bridge to board. It’s at this point that most people assume that it is all done: finally we can enjoy some sense of normalcy.

This time was different. Halfway down the jetbridge, there was a new layer of security. Two US Marshals, heavily armed and dressed in dystopian-style black regalia, stood next to an upright machine with a glowing green eye. Every passenger, one by one, was told to step on a mat and look into the green scanner. It was scanning our eyes and matching that scan with the passport, which was also scanned (yet again).

Like everyone else, I complied. What was my choice? I guess I could have turned back at the point, decline to take the flight I had paid for, but it would be unclear what would then happen. After standing there for perhaps 8 seconds, the machine gave the go signal and I boarded.

I talked to a few passengers about this and others were just as shaken by the experience. They were reticent even to talk about it, as people tend to be when confronted with something like this.

I couldn’t find anyone who had ever seen something like this before. I wrote friends who travel internationally and none said they had ever seen anything like this.

I will tell you how it made me feel: like a prisoner in my own country. It’s one thing to control who comes into a country. But surveilling and permissioning American citizens as they leave their own country, even as they are about to board, is something else.

This isn’t required for all flights, yet.

This writer encountered a Homeland Security / U.S. Customs and Border Protection test at select airports… they are still working out the kinks.

But the question is, after all the frustrations that Americans had with flying after 9/11, and watching their liberties sacrificed at the altar of security, after dealing with ridiculously long lines – are Americans now willing sacrifice even more liberties and submit their biometric scans?

Unfortunately, they may be.

As a general mass, Americans have proved underwhelming in their opposition to invasions of privacy on the part of private corporations, especially those online and in computing and communication devices. They have also shrugged off and become immune to fifteen years of airport harassment and additional checks and scans.

Now, iris scans might even one day make security faster – but it’s a devilish tradeoff, and an enormous trust of power an agency that was created into existence out of the 9/11 emergency atmosphere, and which grows only when feeding the machine fear and terror.

Update: a reader has pointed me to this page at Homeland Security:

As part of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) border security mission, the agency is deploying new technologies to verify travelers’ identities – both when they arrive and when they leave the United States – by matching a traveler to the document they are presenting. CBP’s goal is to enhance national security and protect a traveler’s identity against theft through the use of biometrics.

Biometric information (such as finger, face, or iris) measures a person’s unique physical characteristics. CBP incorporated fingerprints for biometric identification and verification in 2004, and is now testing facial and iris imaging capabilities to help improve travelers’ identity protection, the integrity of our immigration system, and our national security.

I happened to be on the “one daily flight” that gets exit scanned.

[…]

What people don’t often consider is that every rule that pertains to immigration ultimately applies to emigration as well. Every rule that government has to treat immigrants a certain way also necessarily applies to citizens as well.

Chandran Kukathas is right when he says that “controlling immigration means controlling everyone.” (source)

It looks like their tests have so far met with very little resistance, and all signs green, as support for Trump’s new order of police, border, military and security agencies are given new mandates to enforce laws, and take necessary measures to control borders, verify individuals and protect the country. That’s the narrative, and Americans are cheering it on with very little forethought about the consequences it could hold.

For now, Americans are willing to accept new controls.

That is, if nobody reawakens to the massive civil liberties issue that is going on.

  1. This must be optional unless forewarned just like the naked body scanners. Both have health risks as well as privacy invasion. Retinas can be damaged and body scanners concentrate radiation on skin & protruding body parts. Not registered as medical devices there fore not subject to regular calibration. Not operated by medical professionals either. Are they going to require retinal scans to obtain a passport now? If not then there is no correlation yet. They are using this to put you in a national data base.
How long before this is employed on buses, trains, cruise ships, sports events? Wake up people & take action. Also check your airlines contract . If not specifically stated that there will be an iris scan you can get your money back. Unfortunately by putting it as the last thing before boarding most will be forced to comply as it will be too late to change plans. This is just vile & wrong.

    • “…last thing before boarding…” EXACTLY, that way no one turns back and they can claim their test met with no resistance. This is the way evil seeps into our systems.

      • Oh its been seeping alright. Very slowly like a praying mantis as to keep the herd from bolting.
Its all about the slow conditioning. Desensitizing us so we don’t even notice anymore.
The proverbial frog in the pot.

Sadly, the go along to get along will still not save us in the end. for the evil plan of greedy control freaks is non sustainable. It will collapse in the end but not before it crushes so many first.

Let me part with the wise words of Albert Einstein.
“Those that are happy to walk rank and file already have my contempt. They needn’t a brain, a stem would suffice”

And as another commenter eluded to.
“The world will not be destroyed by the few evil ones, but by the masses standing around doing nothing about it” Also Einstein’s quote.

The mirror of truth often has an ugly reflection.

  2. “…a devilish tradeoff…” You nailed it with that one phrase. Bargaining with the devil is NEVER a good idea. We should all walk away from these insane tactics, no matter how inconvenient, while it’s still possible to because they are only in BETA, and if they don’t fly (pardon the pun) with the public, they won’t be deployed – yet, and delaying their one world order is one of our most powerful defenses.

This blatant deployment of war tactics and despotic control measures on Americans needs one catch-phrase, for ALL to use as we walk away from them, and that is, “That’s never going to happen.” Because when the airlines start losing money over this ridiculous demand, they will pressure tptb and believe me, they have more say in what the corporation masquerading as our government does than we do. Everyone, please stop complying with them, resist the urge to comply over convenience and just say no!

    • I fly as little as possible these day. the bullshite at the airports is over the top. if I can drive it I will, or just dont go. plus the service on the airlines is crap. and the flying waitresses are morons drunk on a little power. F. them all. and may they lose their pensions completely.

    • That is an individual decision that very few people will make. No where near enough people will refuse to even make a dent in their plans. Things are truly progressing very quickly. Just ran into another person that has denounced his subjection to the “Corporation of the United States Of America.” It seems to becoming a more common thing. It doesn’t make living in society easy, but that’s the point, right?

If you bargain with the devil try to do it towards the end of the month. You will get a much better deal.

  3. Everyone needs to check out the case of one Robbie Estabrook in Portland who was arrested for trying to leave the security area to go home. He did not want to be scanned and probbed that day, he just wanted to be left alone and go home. He was arrested and jailed not for trying to go past the security area but for leaving the way he came to go home. This is how serious it has become people–being jailed for peacefully trying to leave an airport to go home.

  4. I’ve wondered what this will do to the eyes over time???? Any Doctor’s out there?

  5. i will simply drop my trousers and let them scan my red eye

  6. 9/11 FARSE is something every American should finally FACE and DIGEST!!! The deliberate, secret plan to execute it by those in real power, paved the way to exactly these issues discussed in this article. Prof. Judy Wood explains in her book* how the ‘attack’ on WTC towers happened, it explains most of the PHYSICS behind, and it leaves the reader with 100% proof, that the official scenario of the attacks by youngsters from the bush, was an unbelievable LIE. If people do not face it, they will end up not much different than Syrian folks, in a patch made of their own blood…

*A MUST READ: “Where Did the Towers Go? Evidence of Directed Free-energy Technology on 9/11 “

Everything would unravel under an honest investigation and that is why there will never be one. Fortunately hard working independent researchers have already solved it on many alternative media sites. Duck duck go it.

  7. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! This is not just illegal, it is definitely unconstitutional. I would refuse the scan and demand to be seated because I have a passport and paid-for ticket. If they refuse, it degrades into lawsuit city.

What’s next Cheek swabs for DNA? Also MAJOR illegal.

  8. And you wonder why I refuse to fly into or out of the US? On a recent flight from Mexico to a third country, our plane landed at LAX to pick up more passengers. All the people on board had to get off go through two hours of immigration and further security and then get back on the same plane to proceed to their destination. From now on I will never fly on any aircraft to Mexico or anywhere else that has a US connection.

  9. The waters are here muddied.
The written article correctly refers to IRIS scans, but the title of the video is RETINA scans.
Iris scans are non-invasive and widely used for accurate, rapid identification.
Retina scans are invasive and accordingly – have NEVER been used – save for one James Bond movie.

As with guns, chainsaws, knives etc .. As potentially dangerous as they are, they are used because they also provide advantages that outweigh the risks. Inanimate items aren’t themselves dangerous – it’s how they are used – for example: Criminals misuse ‘guns’ to intimidate and dominate. Good ‘men’ used ‘guns’ to fight for liberty and freedom – so it’s not the tool – it’s ‘he’ who is in control of the tool.

And with biometrics, huge advantages are possible with more efficient processes to help people. Equally, processes and information can and certainly WILL be abused. The major abuser will not be criminals, but governments and their bureaucracies. Sadly, those wheels are in motion right now.

I support proper ID and related processes, but with the caveat that anybody tinkering with, expanding the use of etc data or processes are taken to the local gun range and shot dead. That be enshrined in law.

People NEED first to be specifically protected in modern law against ‘Governmentum’ and the whims of transient politicians. Those laws need be introduced BEFORE introduction of biometric related processes.

    • The Global Cabal instituting the agenda to track ALL travel, including local, using biometrics is the some Kakistocracy responsible for the world wars, bringing the Chinese and Russian communists to power, the assassination of JFK, RFK, and MLK (to name a few), ‘spiked’ and mandatory vaccinations, Gladio, 9/11 and now their death blow to a free humanity: continuous biometric tracking under a World Govt paradigm with China Style Social Credit Scoring. Ever wonder why millions of Americans are now getting “free” instant access to their FICO scores via their credit cards? The CEO of FICO, William Lansing, has stated he believes what people say in social media is fair game as a metric in their credit scores. To that end, FICO is designing new scoring programs.

The parable of the toad and the scorpion comes to mind. There are no privacy “laws” that will induce the Kabal to walk away from their Big Brother agenda. In Smart City brochures around the world human beings have become “DIGITAL CITIZENS” = digital slaves, aka “Smart Citizens” equated to “human capital and labor resources” (their words and terminology. No kidding.)

      • Oh I know you aren’t kidding. Your concerns are entirely valid and I agree.

        Consider also:
The USA (and other nations) has been deliberately infected by a known high risk group that in the main has demonstrated an unwillingness to merge with the host nation – rather a willingless to dominate and kill it.

From a management perspective, that element needs to be managed, but (as I mentioned in a posting to CROC .. above) “equality” and “non-discrimination” mean that EVERYBODY must be targeted.

Suppose we were guaranteed that we would not be abused by process and the authoritarian village idiots such as at TSA – but afforded tangible benefits for participating in process. In that Valhalla, our accurate ID would streamline our movements, and rapidly narrow down the high risk element for attention. This is particularly important in large populations, and can but only get worse as people breed.

The problem is in reality the security of data. What if/when that data is hacked or tinkered with? It would be worse than being blacklisted by every credit provider forever by underpaying a bill by $5.35.

The village idiots need be separated from dealing with people normally, and their attention focused on those who raise an alert. This should have been done BEFORE introduction of any biometrics – furthermore – a proper campaign to explain to people the benefits, the risks and the protection measures — which should include shooting dead anybody found tinkering with process!

      • They’re drawing a chalk line…while the plebes average attention span from years of exposure to ‘gaming’ ‘texting’ etc..before ‘hyper-linking’…is now that of EIGHT seconds!… while unconsciously extending their necks out into accepting the matrix urban ersatz pseudo-reality… while being subliminally subsumed by multi-media corporate generated MSM alpha~waves that ubiquitously seduce & lull the ‘mob’ into a somnambulistic / hypnotic state of compliance…almost mimicking the effects of ‘scopolamine’ …so the ave. person is NOT connecting the dots that you just outlined above …ergo, being critically unaware of the 0.01%’s looming Global juggernaut of Centralized Kontrol over every aspect of WE the 99%’s daily life…with Agenda 2030’s invisible shackles slipped upon us by velvet gloves that conceal the inexorably advancing chain mail tyranny of a Hunger Games Society..,replete with an inescapable & draconian Social Credit Scoring totalitarian labyrinth of an ambivalent, unblinking bureaucratic nightmare (imo)

    • “Laws” are not there to protect you but to CONTROL you !

It sems you want more of the same….
      .

      • CROCCO: SPOT ON. That is exactly the case.

Ever wondered why laws and bans are rarely if ever effective (eg Guns & Drugs)? Chew over this that I coined some years back:

“Good men need no laws, and bad men are not made better by them.”

  10. does no one have a problem with this………………this complete and utter bullshite. I complained about the TSA years ago and the sheep went on about safety. even after theTSA failed numerous checks. and fellow passengers corrected me that it was for safety. bullhsit again. its for control. safety has little to do with it.

  11. I’m in business but I quit flying over a dozen years ago over mistreatment by the TSA. It was difficult at first. However, if enough passengers would stop, economics would take over. Simple math tells me I have diverted many thousands of dollars away from the airlines. I may not be the straw that broke the camel’s back but it’s not for lack of trying.

  12. Easy enough. Just boycott flying. It’s bad enough that thanks to NextGen the FAA has already obliterated entire cities by placing super highways right over our heads bathing us in an ocean of noise and air pollution and draining our mental sanity. Or that an entire pristine rain forest has been turned into the playground for Navy growler jets and electromagnetic weapon experimentation and testing. Or that airliners have continued to push the limit to find the smallest space a human can be confined to without being injured. Or how tax funded NASA has been working diligently on the behalf of airliners to bring back supersonic commercial aircraft by first placing volunteers in a room filled iwth subwoofers in order to determine threshold of human disturbance that is acceptable, a level d subjectively determined by NASA itself. An effort which will be adding these boom less jets alongside the equally moronically labeled whisper jets at very low altitudes directly over our heads back to back to back in spurts sometimes only 30seconds apart.

  13. I have to start by saying I am not a US citizen. I too think much of the current ‘travel protocols’ through US airports are over the top. But for all that I fail to see what the problem is here. An eye scan is totally non-invasive. Give me that over having a body cavity search any day – but it also one of the few tests that can be applied to prove you are who your Passport says you are! Passports are totally unreliable anyway, and if someone is being checked for legal status inside USA this is one very quick and totally non-invasive way of checking! If you are scanned coming in, and then try to join the over-stayers, this is far and away the best way to deal with it. IMHO
