Trump Gets Ready To Pick John Bolton As Advisor

By Kurt Nimmo

Picking John Bolton as national security advisor will not MAGA. Instead, it will open the floodgates for neocons chomping at the bit to drive US foreign policy after they were sidelined in favor of humanitarian warmongers during the reign of Obama, a breed more palatable to hoodwinked Democrats who only hate war when it is waged by Republicans.

From CNN on Sunday:

White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters that Trump will speak to former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, acting national security adviser Gen. Keith Kellogg, West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who directs the Army Capabilities Integration Center, and “potentially more” candidates. Those meetings will take place Sunday, Spicer said.

Two other candidates, former Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal and former CIA Director David Petraeus, are no longer in the mix, sources told CNN Friday night. The front-runner for the post, Vice Adm. Bob Harward, dropped out of consideration apparently over concerns that he could not bring his own staff to the National Security Council.

For my take on Kellogg, read this, and Bolton here.

The Bolton selection is being pushed by Ted Cruz.

There were signs of strong support inside and outside the administration for Bolton. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told CNN in an interview that the foreign policy veteran would make a “very, very, strong” national security adviser because he understands the threat from “radical Islamic terrorism.”

In other words, Iran.

Makes sense. During his failed presidential campaign, Cruz worked with the neocon Frank Gaffney. He’s way out on the anti-Islam fringe and aligned with the likes of the notorious Islamophobes Pam Geller and Robert Spencer.

Retired Lt. Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin also had Cruz’s ear during the campaign.

Like disgraced Trump advisor Mike Flynn, Boykin believes Islam is the source of evil in the world. He said Islam is not a religion and therefore does not deserve protection under the First Amendment. A few years ago, Boykin said when Jesus returns, he will be toting an AR-15 rifle. He was reprimanded by President Bush for saying—while in uniform—that the United States is engaged in a holy war with Islam. Boykin also said Christians need to act more like members of the Islamic State and die for their God.

I’m not sure if Boykin is a student of the neocon philosopher Leo Strauss, but he sure sounds like it. Shadia Drury, professor of political theory at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, during an interview with Danny Postel in 2003 described how the Straussian mindset works.

In short, they all thought that man’s humanity depended on his willingness to rush naked into battle and headlong to his death. Only perpetual war can overturn the modern project, with its emphasis on self-preservation and “creature comforts.” Life can be politicized once more, and man’s humanity can be restored.

This terrifying vision fits perfectly well with the desire for honor and glory that the neo-conservative gentlemen covet. It also fits very well with the religious sensibilities of gentlemen. The combination of religion and nationalism is the elixir that Strauss advocates as the way to turn natural, relaxed, hedonistic men into devout nationalists willing to fight and die for their God and country.

The neocon Bill Kristol recently reminded us this philosophy is still in play. He said “lazy white” workers should be replaced by more motivated foreign workers. He probably believes they may be more willing to die for the neocon cause of endless war and mass murder.

Last September, Boykin endorsed Trump. A few weeks later, he praised Trump’s selection of James “Mad Dog” Mattis as secretary of defense. Mattis is known for his anti-Iran animus.

According to his convoluted neocon logic, Iran is responsible for the rise of the Islamic State. “I consider ISIS nothing more than an excuse for Iran to continue its mischief. Iran is not an enemy of ISIS; they have a lot to gain from the turmoil that ISIS creates… What is the one country in the Middle East that has not been attacked by ISIS? One. That is Iran. That is more than happenstance, I’m sure,” he said.

He forgot to mention Israel.

On Sunday, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul warned about nominating John Bolton. “John Bolton still believes the Iraq War was a good idea. He still believes that regime change is a good idea. He still believes that nation-building is a good idea,” said the senator. “I think that his history of sort of acting on his own, my fear is that secret wars would be developing around the globe. And so, no, I think he would be a bad choice.”

  1. Good job Trump haters y’all are just gonna open the floodgates for every war imaginable while making sure the only legislation that passes is bipartisan draconian freedom extinguishing police state bs in the name of fighting terror…oh and of course those memorializing measures like honoring Saudis for their efforts fighting terrorism and achievements in spreading human rights. We love those.

  2. While I would agree with this article up to a point there’s still a couple of good reasons Bolton should be considered and maybe given the job. The majority of the warmongering neocons hate Donald Trump (look no further than John McCain and Lindsey Graham) and it goes back the other way too. They’re more crooked Hillary supporters with their…globalist views. However Bolton remained friendly throughout the campaign and was generally supportive of Trump from what I saw of him on the FOX Business channel mostly. The other thing is that he is an expert on personnel matters and would be able to find and get rid of those Obama moles & holdovers still in operation in the nat’l security spheres of operations helping to stop anymore leaks. Anyway, while he may be a neocon in (some) of his thoughts, he may be just the man that Trump needs to clean house in the security services, like Tillerson is doing on the fabled Floor 7 at the State Department. Time to clean house and remove the left wing infestation of traitorous warmongers and historically challenged know-nothings that has stunk up Washington DC for too long now. Good luck and God speed.

  3. Hmmm

Repost of a comment I made on another site yesterday:

And thus the Israel firsters/zionists now have a reaffirmed that their complete control over US foreign policy is still in effect. Let this be a lesson to President Trump and all those moronic American Patriots who thought “their” government would ever really be allowed to put America and Americans before Israel…..

  4. PNAC scum

  5. I have just finished breakfast and the possibility of John Boulton being nominated for national security advisor or any other position makes me want to hurl .

  6. Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster is Trump’s pick. It was just on FOX Business…

  7. Worst armchair general from the bush jr. era of ‘let’s attack the world now that 9/11 happened’. Keep the neocons out because they did nothing but side with hilary in the election.

  8. Alarm released! It is McMaster.

I strongly doubt that president Trump will pick John Bolton, poster kid of the Republican establishment’s hawkish wing. Pick him would send the administration into chaos. Bolton’s view is odd with key cabinet members – Secretaries. of State (Tillerson) and Defence (Mattis). Last year Mattis told Congress that US has no money to initiate new conflict.

  9. John Bolton, John Bolton? John Bolton is a war mongers war monger. He wants to go to war with anyone and everyone. Glad I didn’t vote. And for anyone who says I am the problem for not voting let me defend myself before you reply. I am old enough and I used to vote until I realized it doesn’t matter who is in office. Nothing has changed or gotten better. Plus I do not feel the need to have a ruler.

  10. How can Pax Israel rise without Pax Americana gutted?
