Venezuela Institutes Forced Labor, Orders Citizens to Do Farm Work

maduro venezuelaBy Joshua Krause

All socialist schemes end in the same way. Given enough time, socialist governments will bring poverty, misery, and death to their citizens. But instead of changing their ways, the operators of a command economy will double down over and over again until the whole system collapses.

Since these people only think of the economy as a simple machine and their citizens as cogs, they will inevitably start to treat their citizens like robots as their system falls apart. And that’s exactly what’s happening in Venezuela, where the government is now mandating forced labor for their citizens.

In an effort to deal with the country’s food shortages, the government has decreed that citizens who are physically able will have to work on Venezuela’s farms for at least 60 days per year, regardless of what their current job entails. Workers will still be paid their normal salaries and can’t be fired from their day jobs. The government reserves the right to increase this farm work period if needed.

Obviously this won’t work. Venezuela doesn’t have food shortages because people aren’t working the fields. High-yield farms require equipment and fertilizers that can’t be made domestically anymore, and nobody can afford to buy these supplies abroad either. The real problem is that people can’t work these farms, because they don’t have what they need to run them.

Instead of the solving the food crisis, the forced labor program is going to send hundreds of thousands of urban dwellers to the farms, where they will be paid to do nothing. And since they won’t be doing their day jobs, more shortages and dysfunction will emerge in other sectors of the economy. Surely the Maduro regime will concoct some other ridiculous and authoritarian scheme to deal with those shortages, and that will probably cause more problems. And on and on it will go, either until everyone starves to death, or until Maduro’s government is overthrown.

  1. Typical dumb azz socialist solutions to a problem that socialism created………..

    • You really don’t even know what’s happening in the world, do you?

A problem socialism created? 50% of Venezuela’s GDP and 95% of its exports are based on the oil industry.

Since you obviously haven’t realised, oil prices are extremely low- making a one barrel of oil that used to bring a average profit of over $100, but now, only generates a profit of $2 per barrel.

So, tell me again how Venezuela’s economic problem was caused by socialism? Because anyone with the will to be logical and realistic would be able to put one and two together and realised that this problem is not a failure of socialism, but a failure of the capitalist trade market.

      • It’s very difficult to explain to a hard core socialist how the economy works, I can only offer this bit of wisdom. Every socialist economy ever has failed.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

        • Well it’s seemingly more difficult to explain to a person who doesn’t understand even the basics of how the oil prices are affecting all economies, that the most successful nations and economies in the world, while not completely socialist, have socialist policies, under social democratic socio-political systems.

And well technically, there has not been any capitalist nation that has ever succeeded on the long run, because recessions and corrupt bankers and politicians are the clear signs of a failing economy and system- just so happens that the people controlling such a system have big power through their money, and has been able to keep their power to sustain this dying system.

Also noting that ring-wingers have definitely be known to be very rational and receive facts objectively, so what you must be saying, although not providing any facts or example, makes you extremely credible and worth listening to. (I’m being sarcastic here if that hasn’t been communicated well)

  2. The answer to the lack of fertilizer is to allow the people to take a dump in the farm fields. There’s no need to purchase it from abroad.

    • Burying bankers, politicians, clergy, and other liars would work very well. -Might want to run ’em through a chipper first, though.

    • Many Asian nations have been doing that for millennia. call it completing the cycle rather than corrupting it for the likes of Monsanto/Dow, no?
Doing it here might be a bit dangerous though. What with all those antibiotics/hormones/GMO etc. already corrupting our “exceptional” gut.

    • You can’t use human waste for fertilizer until it’s been aged for 2 years, you might well get E. coli or other diseases. More practical is to use waste from farm animals, which has been done for thousands of years and works fine.

  3. How about the wars of capitalism for the good of all (socialism), don’t forget deficit spending and bank bail-outs (socialism), chem-trails for who knows what reason but for the common good (socialism), Georgia Guide Stone mind-set (socialism), Social Security (socialism), Federal Postal Service (socialism), Federal Highway System (socialism); US citizens who do not know their own socialistic roots due to the public education system (socialism).

    • Great catch! Here’s a very, very seldom used quote from the Bolshevik folks who brought Christian/Muslim Russia decades of suffering/torture/mass murder and the complete annihilation of what was from all accounts a decent Royal Family;

      “We
have exterminated the property owners in Russia. We are going to do
the same thing in Europe and America”

      (The
      Jew, December, 1925, Zinobit)

Let’s not forget the identity of the gang responsible for practically every “ism” foisted upon the world.

It might help to expose the facts about what group is truly responsible for this “food shortage”. Remember the Ukrainian “Holodomor” nearly 10,000,000 Christians/Muslims starved to death by Bolshevik “collectivism”. The “gang” sent their CHEKA in, “collectivized” all the Ukrainian’s food/equipment, (on penalty of death if you resisted), closed all borders, took all that “collectivized” food/grain etc. and SOLD IT ON THE WORLD MARKET, while the West fed it’s people bullshit about it being a natural disaster, propped up the Soviet Union with tax-payer money/weapons and EXTENDED the slaughter of fellow Christians/Muslims by decades and millions more murders.

Look at Iraq. While “freeing” them, the west destroyed their land with depleted uranium, making the country dependent on food imports. Step out of line? “Instant famine”. and GMO terminator seeds are MUCH cheaper than footing the bill for an invading army….

      http://www.save-iraq.info/response-plan/food-security/

The demon-in-the-flesh, Kissinger itself said, control food and you control people. (paraphrase).

    • The Postal Service dates back to Benjamin Franklin, long before Socialism was invented. A government service is not necessarily bad.

  4. Reminds me of the wheat fields of Stalins Russia –200 million died.

  5. In addition to “poverty, misey and death” they also always end in totalitarian dictators. The government religion of Secular Socialism promising a socialist utopia on Earth and a belief in a Supreme Central Collective, like all religions can ignore their past atrocities that have occurred every time socialism has been instituted.

    • They end up with dictators because America takes down socialist countries and installs dictators to meet the needs of the powers that be. There are plenty of countries which are successfully socialist, such as Sweden, Denmark and Norway and they have been socialist for almost 100 yrs. They have very high highest quality of life. But the PTB won’t allow S. American countries to be socialist because they want to control them, and they do. It’s been this way for a very long time in S. America, at least 150 yrs.

      • America installed Stalin & Mao? Norway, Denmark and Sweden make their sysytem work by oil production from the North Sea with small populations and don’t put any money into their self defence, which we have to fund. Your limited knowledge of history, facts and economics is typical of the Secular Socialist Religion whose spiritual reward is a socialist utopia on Earth and belief in a Supreme Central Collective. As a true believer I would have a better chance of rational discussion arguing the virgin birth with an evangelical.

    • Forced (as in non-voluntary) labor IS forced dictatorship!

  6. I don’t see anything wrong with this policy,

  7. Craig, I agree with you 100% – especially your last line. I’ve read Joshua Krause for years and thought he was a pretty good journalist, but THIS article and everything he says in it is pure krap and lies.
He doesn’t realize that socialism works just fine, as it has in Denmark, Sweden, etc. for almost 100 yrs. But in many countries which are socialist and struggling, the American powers that be come in to take down socialism because they want the control over people that fascism brings. I thought most people knew this and Mr. Krause should, too, but he ignores this and instead blames socialism. THIS IS A LIE. American destroys whatever they want, wherever they want with no regard to sovereignty of nations or welfare of its people.
Also, Mr. Krause you don’t need expensive machinery or chemical fertilizers. This is just plain ignorant. I’ve been a gardener for 40 yrs and use animal waste for fertilizer, which is much better for soil and plants. When you have everyone in the country giving 60 hours a year, you don’t need farm machinery.
I am incensed at the complete LIES THIS AUTHOR IS TELLING. I thought he was better than that, but apparently he isnt.
I’m not reading another article by Joshua Krause again. This piece is pure B.S. and lies.

  8. Socialism impoverishing and enslaving its host country, as usual. Never forget that Venezuela has more oil than Saudi Arabia and this is how it ends up. Obviously, it would be crazy to suggest that they return the land to the farmers and give them a INCENTIVE to grow more like they did in the Soviet Union. When they did that miraculously the food shortages largely ended. It is amazing how powerful a little free enterprise is. Have you ever noticed how there are endless “bad harvests” in any country (Soviet Union, China, etc.) that adopts socialism for their agriculture?

  9. “I’d go work on a farm for the good of the country”. “I’d go” = voluntarism. Forced labor = DICTATORSHIP.

And I want to make it clear you are perfectly entitled to work under any dictatorship of your choosing.
However, when you start volunteering ME to do so, you are begging for a knuckle sandwich.

    • Well it’s not slave labor as these people as the article states will be getting paid their normal salaries…im pretty sure slaves don’t get paid…and yes if it was voluntary that would be better but I’m pretty sure most people that are starving will gladly volunteer to go work on a farm to feed themselves and others. When the time come here in America or wherever you’re from and this happens you just stay home on your couch and watch the programming…we’ll all get together and grow some food for you. You don’t have to help. Just kick back and relax william. We don’t want to get a knuckle sandwich from you..I’m sure it would be a devastating blow.

  10. When this broke several months ago my initial thought was why not plant food everywhere? It’s not like Venezuela has a poor climate for food. If people could not get seed, that is one thing. Why does food need to be produced on huge remote farms? Give the people seed, and animals and get them to teach each other how to garden and farm for themselves.
