At Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Sunday, about 450 passengers missed their flights because of long lines at TSA security checkpoints. This brings the total to around 800 in the past week alone — and nearly 4,000 since February.
Earlier in the week, O’Hare had advised travelers to arrive at the airport three hours before their flights because of wait times that were longer than usual. But even with an advanced warning, many stranded passengers were left fuming.
“Got here two and a half hours before my flight and it took security two to three (hours) to get through,” one stranded passenger told local affiliate ABC 7.
But Chicago’s travel woes aren’t confined to O’Hare. At Midway International Airport on Thursday, one flier, Sean Hoffman, shot a video of an excruciatingly long security line and uploaded it to YouTube. The clip has over 2.2 million views so far and, according to Hoffman, had gone viral by the time he arrived home in Oregon.
“Are you fucking kidding me TSA? What the fuck?” Hoffman asks at the end of the clip. The video struck such a nerve that the Chicago Tribune covered the story in a Monday article.
“I just kind of felt the TSA’s getting more and more (awful) over the years, so it was just a breaking point,” Hoffman explained to the Tribune about why he shot the video.
It seems the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey would agree. In a recent letter to the TSA it said that “The patience of the flying public has reached a breaking point. Given the adverse customer service and economic impacts, we can no longer tolerate the continuing inadequacy of TSA passenger screening services.”
The letter was in response to skyrocketing security line wait times at New York and New Jersey airports. Between March and April of this year, for example, wait times shot up 82 percent from the same period in 2015.
Backlash to these intolerable wait times has been building in recent months, as stories such as the one in Chicago are coming out of cities all over the country. The TSA cites understaffing and an increase in air travel as the major factors contributing to the growing security lines at airports.
One way the agency sought to alleviate the problem was through PreCheck, a screening process that allows already vetted fliers expedited passage through checkpoints. But a lack of enrollees in the program in the four years since its implementation has made it highly ineffective.
Meanwhile, the frustrated public is left wondering whether the TSA even serves a valid purpose, considering a CNN journalist’s pimento cheese was confiscated — but no terrorist has ever been caught.

I agree. Travel will become a thing of the past in the near future. They will achieve this with a lot more ‘terrorist’ attacks and turmoil around the world. Planes falling out of the sky, you name it. No one will be game to travel!
In looking again at the pictures of the long and deep lines I realized this is a perfect opportunity for ISIS to do damage to that yuge group of people that would be equal to 9/11. It feels to me like these very long 15 people wide lines right in the front of the airport where all that glass is, is a set up for much destruction.
They also want to force us into the precheck system so they can have all our fingerprints on file & make us pay for it to boot!
I won’t fly anymore. I will drive. The last time I got on a plane TSA at DALLAS Love Field couldn’t even read their body scanner. I have had 3 surgeries on my LEFT knee and have added hardware in it. 6 screws, a couple metal washers and a pin THEY wanted to argue with me that it was my right leg, which only has natural God Given parts… I was livid treated me like a criminal while some that had larger garments covering their entire body and head were shuffled right on through…
Jeebus crepes that makes ME effing crazy, I can’t even imagine what was going thru your mind at the time. TSA is killing flying; Train? my dad about had a nervous breakdown last year on a supposed “luxury” Amtrak cross country trip that saw two trains break down and two days lost while eating crap food staying in crap cabins, the delay causing him to miss an important personal memorial event, and sure, driving is great… If you don’t have to travel thru any metro area in the nation, or anywhere between San Diego and Ventura, Ca, or over a bridge that might collapse… Might get myself a horse! I actually moved back to the PNW from Southern California recently, I grew up there but moved back after less than a year almost entirely due to how ridiculous the traffic is. We gots problems out the yang and I don’t see a single one improving any time soon.
I got ticketed for riding my neighbors horse into town. I didn’t move off the highway to prove a point. They are so very fond of telling us we still have the right to travel on the highways without a license, just not in a motor vehicle. I am proving this to be a lie.
As long as you are not blocking traffic you have the right of way when leading or riding livestock. Law is same in nearly every state. Cops just don’t know it. I used to ride my Morgan bareback in a bikini into town [on Cape Cod] for a milkshake & had no problems till he pooped on the sidewalk in front of a house.. Some lady thought I was supposed to pick it up! I told her it was recycled grass & free fertilizer and rode away.

You can not walk out your front door without several government approved forms of I.D. or permission documents. But try telling that to your “average American citizen” and you will get the argument of the year. The vast majority of sheeple believe they live the freest country on the planet. Agree. This is also the result of the slogan “If you have not done anything wrong, you have nothing to fear”. But in the meantime the Federal Government are continuing to gather all the information about the individual they can get their claws on.

Don’t you just love the sheeple who say something along the lines of….”so I just won’t fly, I’ll drive” That’s why I say we have no hope of things ever getting turned around, the people are just too stupid and have been well conditioned. The whole point of TSA and these ridiculous long lines is exactly about limiting your ability as a free citizen to travel freely. They want to make it as difficult and uncomfortable as possible.

So obvious what is happening here… since the voluntary Pre-Check system failed, they are using this slimy tactic to force more people to willingly pay to have all their personal information on some .gov file. (Don’t worry though, President Hillary will store all of it on her private server.) First it won’t be too noxious: name, address, birth date, etc., then pretty soon they’ll demand all kinds of information and people will willingly pay for the privilege of giving it to them, just like they were willing to allow TSA to grope and nuke them to keep them safe from scary Muslims with box cutters. How’s that slippery slope thingy working out for you?

This “outrage” has hit the news cycle in an effort to introduce the Pre-Check program to the hoi polloi: only $85 and an invasive interrogation can buy you “the expedited security screening for a better travel experience.”
This isn’t about flight delays or inconvienence, it’s about stealing our freedom, liberty, privacy and right to travel whether it’s by plane, car or on foot. Time to wake up Sheeple.

Convict all TSA employees of multiple counts of violating people’s fourth amendment rights with a consecutive five year sentence for each violation. Each employee would get a sentence of millions of years.
That would end the TSA without the need for U.S. Congressional approval.
The same for most members of the U.S. Congress including charges of treason for the “patriot” act.

Dare I say that on my international longhauls this year my TSA experiences were good, better than in previous years. I even got a smile out of a guy at one security check. The longest queue I endured was at the border at LAX. A woman behind me, a first time traveller, was having a meltdown, so I wiled away the time calming her down. Flying is no longer a pleasurable experience. In that way the terrorists have won. But isn’t that the way of the world? Everything we do is heavily regulated due to the fact that we humans are a selfish, entitled species.
And the irony is, the TSA is no longer necessary because THEY were NEVER NECESSARY in the first place! You are all just as likely to have terrorism with or without them. This is what living in FEAR feels like America.. you make the choice to continue to do so. You are also completely no longer in control over your own government, which has been taken over by corporations and special interests. You know this is true and apparently are just fine with it. Welcome to fascism. Surprise! Kinda snuck up on you didn’t it. Well, it was not that sneaky really, they just brainwashed you is all along with the complicit corporate propaganda machine known as mainstream media. Your silence and inaction America is just the same as approving of all of this at this point.
