Saudis Confirm Discussion With U.S. Led Coalition Of Potential Invasion Of Syria

In an interview with Reuters, an aide to Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri, confirmed that not only have the Saudis considered a direct military invasion of Syria but that they have done so in collaboration and discussion with the 49 other nations making up the U.S.–led coalition “against ISIS.” The aide has confirmed the “political discussion” about the possibility of a ground troop deployment to Syria that was explored during a coalition ministerial meeting that took place in Brussels last month.

Asseri himself confirmed that the discussions took place. “It was discussed two weeks ago in Brussels,” he said, although he clarified that the discussions were only on the “political” level as opposed to a detailed “military mission.”

The general made a point to state that, if the decision to invade is made, Saudi Arabia would be ready and willing to contribute troops to the mission. He also admitted publicly that Saudi Arabia has been working on military plans for the potential invasion of Syria.

“Once this is organized, and decided how many troops and how they will go and where they will go, we will participate in that,” he said. “We need to discuss at the military level very extensively with the military experts to make sure that we have a plan.”

The United States has also confirmed the Saudi intentions with U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby even stating that the United States would welcome the cooperation of the KSA.

“But there’s a lot that needs to be discussed in terms of what they would do, what their makeup would be, how they would need to be supported by the coalition going forward. So there’s a lot of homework that needs to be done,” Kirby said.

For its part, the Syrian government, via an official source at the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry told SANA news agency that Saudi Arabia is hurting any chances of peace in Syria and that it is playing a “destructive role” in the process as well as “threatening the security and stability” of the world.

The source further argued that the UN Secretary-General should immediately form a committee to examine the possibility of “crimes that were committed and are still being committed by the Saudi regime and in the Arab world.”

In addition, a U.S. official has stated that its coalition will continue to provide arms and equipment to “moderate terrorists” in Syria despite the peace agreement.

“We will continue to provide equipment packages to vetted leaders and their units so that over time they can make a concerted push into territory still controlled,” the official said. “As a matter of policy, we won’t comment or speculate on potential future operations.”

The confirmation of the Saudi and U.S.-led coalition’s intentions and the statements by both the Saudis and the Americans come only weeks after a warning was issued by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of the potential for “sparking a world war” if peace negotiations were not conducted and relevant parties did not conduct themselves appropriately.

  1. Hopefully this is just theater to give the Saudi invasion threat more credibility, because quite a few analysts have called the Saudi threats a bluff. If the US is really considering green lighting a Saudi+ Turks+ every other despotic, terrorist supporting, undemocratic nation invasion, that’s about the worst thing that could happen at this critical juncture. They (US) shouldn’t be doing anything but honoring the ceasefire, but that’s too much to hope for apparently. Doing one thing and saying another, the singularly ubiquitous feature of US Foreign Policy.

    • And that spurious foreign policy is what Ms. Clinton controlled for several years. In that position she has proven to be untrustworthy and an inveterate liar. I wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her!

      • I wouldn’t trust her as far as you could throw her either 🙂 Sheeet, I wouldn’t trust her as far as Andre the Giant could throw her. Or should it be a midget’s throw. Shorter distance. POINT BEING…you get it. I gotta say, while we’re on the subject, she really scares the crap out of me if she gets elected POTUS. I can’t really say that about anyone else, as bad as they all would be. That psycho laugh after the” we came…he died” re Gaddafi, knowing her record- that shocked me, and I’m about incapable of being shocked by politicians at this point.

  2. It would be a great thing if the Evil Saudis and their minions invade Syria. The Russians will have them all in one place and they can stomp them like cockroaches and cleanse the earth of those terrorist scum once and for all. The 911 terrorist hijackers were all Saudis.

    • “The 911 terrorist hijackers” were fake and had no involvement with the Israeli destruction of the twin towers.

      • I would recommend reading “CIA: Crime Incorporated of America”, which explores the motives and groups involved with the 9/11 attacks. Not only were the Muslims used as “pasties” to deflect attention away from the real culprits some of which were dual U.S. – Israeli citizens and some which were high level persons in U.S. Military, Intelligence, and finance. And that is why there has been no real investigation of the largest crime of the 21 st century.

        • You’ve come a long way, keep investigating, it goes incredibly far. Re “some of which were dual U.S. – Israeli citizens” I’d change that to ‘most’ instead of ‘some’ – it was clearly Mossad in it’s fundamentals. It’s amazing who much they ‘achieved’ with 9/11 – even the pentagon attack (with a cruse missile) took out the team of accountants investigating the Trillions missing from the books that Rumsvelt had just announced on 9/10. The backup paperwork was destroyed in building Seven.

Rear Admiral, Richard Porterfield was head of the Naval Intelligence investigation team at the Pentagon that was investigating the missing $3.2 Trillion. He ordered all his men to be present at a meeting on 9/11. All the men on this team were killed in the Pentagon attack except Porterfield who was making his annual report to Congress that day, at the time of the attack.

Wow! I didn’t know those details. Thanks. It’s quite incredible how they continue to get away with it – it’s like the banks that were ‘Too big to fail’ except this information is ‘Too evil to expose’. They call it ‘hate speech’ if you reveal what was done and who did it, and I guess that is true in a way, any normal person Would Hate the perpetrators if they knew. But I ask, would it be ‘hate speech’ if I revealed the details of a convicted child rapist?
Personally I don’t Hate anyone – one shouldn’t hate a parasite infection, the parasite is just doing what it always does – the answer it to remove the infection and get your life back to normal health.

That is why you should read “CIA: Crime Incorporated of America” It has the details on 9/11 and many other things that are being covered up.

Noted, the problem is that one can only get such books via Amazon and it has no branch in Australia – so it is very expensive because of the shipping (they don’t even have a system to combine orders and ship them together.)
I will investigate to see if they have an ‘eBook’ version. Again thanks for the tip Herbert.

Get a kindle or a kindle app for the computer you are using. The kindle version is less than $5.

  3. Ha Ha ha that’s a good one. “Saudi Arabia has been working on military plans for the potential invasion of Syria.” The retarded inbred Saudis couldn’t plan an event at the special Olympics.

  4. The US is continuing to support terrorists against international law and against its own laws. It’s gross hypocrisy is breath taking!

  5. I would not want to be in Saudi shoes if Assad survives all this and rebuilds his nation. There will be a high price to pay.
