Article Claims Elite Plan to Escape to Mars, Leave 99% of Us on “Dying, Warring Planet”

Forget underground bunkers. That’s not good enough. If Armageddon comes, it is now being posited the one percent plans to run away to Mars.

Newsweek put out an article this week claiming that the new commercial space projects by billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are actually about an escape hatch for the wealthy elite one percent who plan to escape to Mars and leave the rest of us “to suffer on a dying, warring planet.”

The space travel companies say they are creating a way for the human species to endure by populating other planets. But the bottom line is that only the wealthy will have the means to move to Mars. Musk’s target ticket price is $500,000 a person in 2015 dollars, and that’s just to get there. Imagine the new outfits you’ll have to buy to go with that space helmet.

While it is true only the truly wealthy will be able to afford space flight with companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin, what’s funny about it is people’s responses.

Most react they are just happy to know the elite will be blasting off to another planet.

In response to the story, Matt on the Crisis Forums wrote:

I’m not so sure the world “sucks”; it just so happens to be in the hands of a tiny group of people who are doing their best to make it suck for us. I think with a few minor changes the world could actually be a really awesome place for everyone.

…to which Tazweiss responded:

If the 1% all go to Mars the rest of us might be able to create a better world here.

It’s a sad statement on society to note that people’s immediate reaction to the first commercial space flight available ever wasn’t to be bummed they can’t afford to go to Mars; it was to be excited about the fact that the wealthy elite might leave Earth en masse and go somewhere so far away, it takes roughly seven months to get there.

The comment winner goes to Farmer Sean:

“Haha!  We screwed up the Earth for the rest of you, so have fun cleaning up the mess!”

*They fly to Mars*

“Hey, which cargo hold has the menial workers?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, where are the people who are going to build our luxurious space palaces, grow our food and give us manicures?”

“I think….  I think we have to do all of that by ourselves.”

Nah, they’ll probably promise a few “lucky” poor people free passage to Mars via a “work program” that will turn into literal slavery once they get there. Good luck escaping Mars.

  1. Great!! Now all they have to do is figure out how to get through the Van Allen Belt!!

    “In the end
    these things matter most:
    How well did you love?
    How fully did you live?
How deeply did you let go?”

  3. Let them go…Finally, we would have freedom from their tyranny.

  4. Sorry but I don’t agree. First of all, they will have to procreate. After they produce a new generation, human nature will take hold and one-upmanship will come into play. Some people will be considered as lesser individuals. They will be exploited. Thus, history will repeat itself. We’re a virus on earth and humans will be a virus for any other planet we infect.

  5. Wow… just like the Golgafrincham.

Just out of curiosity… how are these rich people going to secure Mars? Mars has no police, or military, so… lets say that someone associated with a rogue group here on old Terra decides to put together their own craft headed to Mars… what would anyone use to stop them from landing, colonizing, or even waging war? Granted, a war fought across vast interplanetary distances is prohibitively expensive, but… that’s not so much the case when the fleet you bring to force is on a one-way-trip, or at least has plans on rolling over the place when it arrives.

Anyone who has played the PC game ‘StarLancer’ (the prequel to Freelancer, by the creator of Wing Commander), can likely imagine just the sort of scenario I’m envisioning here.

  6. good riddance – gold collar criminal sociopath parasites and open the hatch in mid flight.
The Martians will have them for dinner, no doubt, and there will be a thousand years of peace.

  7. This article is a a distraction to the fact that they perfected antigravity electrogravitics in the late 50s but the military quickly classified it and have kept it for their own use.
Using chemical rocket technology is antiquated technology but those that control the secret space program are not going to allow the farm animals to have any of the new antigravity knowledge.

  8. Before you go dancing in the street at the prospect that the elite will go away and leave us in peace, You should realize that they will leave their minions in charge of us, to collect right up until the bitter end. And to keep things tidy in case their hiatus doesn’t work out. I remind you that they have created a vast system of underground cities that we do not have access to.

  9. I’ll be invited. See you suckers.

  10. Awesome, let’s help them pack.

  11. We could only hope that there would be aliens on Mars ready to kill them as they land. If it meant that was the end of the human race, then so be it.

  12. You sound like you must be one of the people that wants to head out with them.

    Go…

We’ll catch up with them in a few centuries and roll over their planet like the Reavers out of the movie “Serenity”, making them our food, and lining the outsides of our ship’s hulls with their bones.

  13. “Believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see” – Edgar Allen Poe

    • “None are so blind as those who will not see” – Jonathan Swift

      • Oh, I see… You’ve made a career of writing on such matters.

I suppose that sort of speaks for itself. I have no interest in arguing with someone who’s made a living off of publishing conspiracy-theory related books. It seems to me that you’ve made a profession of your opinion, and there’s no point in arguing with that, whether it’s right or wrong.

  14. It’s pretty obvious you haven’t watched the miniseries ” The Men who made America”. OR…. You are an apologist and facilitator for them….
As dumbed down as it was, it still made it pretty obvious that those men made their wealth by lying, cheating, killing, and subjugating those they felt were “lesser” than them. And it’s still going on today, surreptitiously, even though we’re supposed to think it’s not.
    Nice try, though….

  15. Make your Mars reservations early. Please.

  16. Excellent answer.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not about comfort zones with me. You could say that I’m at a cosmic distance from being squeamish or afraid of any sort of information, regardless of how inflammatory it may be. It’s not necessarily that I think that those writing on these subjects are all charlatans, but anyone with a rational mind would be no less skeptical of the claims than they would be of the claims of any religion… and that’s part of what bothers me about these sorts of works. Many of the people who read them, who don’t fully understand where the author is coming from, tend to twist the authors words until what was once truth becomes a religious farce.

In this day and age, no one in their right mind trusts the powers-that-be, so just about everyone is looking for someone or something to blame for all that’s wrong in the world. Maybe the people are right, maybe they’re not. As far as what the truth really is, that’s a matter of subjectivity and perception. What may be truth to one person, which they believe with the whole of their being, may be a heinous lie to another, who doubts and discredits what they see as something that couldn’t possibly exist in the reality that they perceive.

I’ll check out your book when I get time to do so (I work in cyber-defense, so my daily schedule is a bit hectic). While I can’t promise that I’ll review it, I *will* give it consideration. But I’ll say this too… if these people do exist, as you and others claim, then I want a piece of the action, and I think several other denizens of the darknet will as well. What these cabals aren’t prepared to deal with hackers that have the ability to sabotage any facility they can build, any space-craft they try to launch. If these people do exist, as you claim, and proof of such can be brought to light with enough data to give the darknet’s collectives a target, the war will be on.

  17. I hope they leave soon…They F’ed up this world because they couldn’t get along, their greed, and elitist mindsets what they fail to realize it anit where you are from but where you are at (Upstairs and in your heart ) You won’t last as long on Mars… So you can probably Kiss Uranus Good-bye anyway…. Haa,Haa,Haa…..Hee.Hee.Hee…..Hoo,Hoo,Hoo.

  18. now tell us what you really think. Nyuk Nyuk!

  19. It’s not that the alien’s chose them and I know where your gonna really say alien’s yeah one stood 10 feet away from me but it stayed behind the gate for some reason, strange objects in the air but it is what is. The elite are just doing what their told surprisingly all it had to take was money, business, plains, cars and ohh yeah flags and everybody feel for it I hate the elite I believe in energy and one of the alien’s was paying attention to life and changed it no one pay’s attention to dates anymore now we’re all doing bad things in every kind of way to each other it blows my mind away. Energy, god whatever it is it’s not showing it’s self and when it does it destroys things we built I just have to much faith more than all 222 or more Bibles (there are I’m going to call out god in a non violent way and say it’s weak cause all it can do is 300,000 miracle a year no,no,no what is that I want to see 7,000,000,000,000 yeah that sounds like a god to me. Y’all take care I wish every single body the best. And gees try to get along were all human beings that all they had to categorize are colors and then give name Chinese, Mexican, and I still don’t believe there are Americans they come from the UK the UK, UN Us who by the way are not uniting nothing but let me just say everybody falls for everything.999

  20. 1) Has someone failed to tell you 99% of the population thinks the C is offensive and because of the use of that word really pretty much invalidates your thoughts and comment. 2) What the 99% don’t like about the 1% is how in their narrow mindedness and selfishness drags the rest us into their pit of despair. Fine, you want to be wealthy? Just don’t step on everyone else to get there! There are many among the 99% who have drive and ambition such as artists for example but they don’t drag down everyone around them. We just don’t like the assholes among the 1%.
