Before future-history brings us a dark and grim reality pitted against a killer Terminator robot army, humanity will have to face job killing robots.
And that may be the bloodiest period of human history, after unemployment leads to riots, unrest and bitter aftermath scenarios play out as a consequence.
Robotic labor is now literally cheaper than human labor, and it is poised to undercut work forces and drive layoffs in even in the most exploitative, slave-wage factories in the world.
Mass unemployment, destroying jobs in every conceivable sector, is a growing danger. Truckers, factory workers, waitresses, teachers, bureaucrats and bosses are all directly threatened by robotic labor, with millions and millions of Americans facing a 90-99% chance of termination (check out your odds in this jobs calculator). In a short span of time, employment could go from bad to virtually non-existent.
The system is already strained to the max, and millions of Americans are struggling just to get by. Those in the Middle Class are endangered. The poor and nearly-poor are the most dependent on government that they’ve ever been in history, and tens of millions more will soon join them, and become almost completely dependent on the State for their livelihood.
Now, South Korea is making a huge move to undercut China on labor costs by displacing humans once and for all in their production facilities, in a bid to edge up on their Asian rival. Samsung has vowed to createrobots that do the work automatically, and without the need for breaks, meals, or days off that are literally “cheaper than any human worker.”
This is the tipping point. Things will not get better from here without a great and painful struggle.

The robopocalypse for workers may be inevitable. In this vision of the future, super-smart machines will best humans in pretty much every task. If it were discovered that you had not character enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner; but whilst you were permitted to live you would have to live well.
The power dynamic for personal freedom under this future is grim. Dissent becomes a most dangerous act.
Preppers will become outlying survivors – until they are targeted individually for elimination by killer robots who will be enforcing a database of petty laws. That is, unless humanity fights back, bringing us back to the Terminator version of events.
Can the future help change the mistakes of the past? The question will make for a good discussion while waiting in line for a job or a hot meal, only keep it under your breath so you aren’t picked up by the monitors.

Govt needs taxes & corporations need to sell stuff. If nobody has a job there will be no taxes or sales. Kinda short sited unless of course they plan to accelerate the Georgia Stones scenario. This will be easy to do with forced vaccinations & toxic environmental chemicals & bioweapons.

Yes! This is such a good thing to point out. Thank you, Kate. When you look at it from the perspective of loosing your job and not being able to pay your bills or buy food, fearing the prospect of homelessness, technology can be terrifying, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We can make technology work for all of us and live lives pursuing our dreams without worry of money in a Resource Based Economy.
Many years ago, I wanted to cantact and help Venus project. It seems to me that this movement has been hijacked. There is no initiative, no possibility to do anything without a hierarchical technocracy!

I’m sorry but you should do more research. If you have looked into a Resource Based Economy or The Venus Project or The Zeitgeist Movement and came away thinking it would be a hierarchical technocracy then you have not done nearly enough research. That is simply untrue and totally incorrect. When this post didn’t immediately go through the moderation process I mistakenly thought I was disapproved and reposted without the video. Um… There is no hierarchy in a RBE. And there is also no “Venus technology”. There is only technology. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that I am advocating strictly for The Venus Project. A Resource Based Economy is advocated for by many organizations, not just TVP. This isn’t 1974, anymore. Here in 2015 we have well more than enough technology in the actual working world than we need to begin transitioning. We don’t have to wait for anything.
I appreciate that you have something you believe in and have worked on. It is not my mission to chage your world view. I’m merely attempting to educate others about the options we have as a civilization if we could put our minds to it. So you are free to advocate for whatever you like, but, regardless of how many years you have invested, you clearly do not understand the system I’m advocating, as nothing you have said is acurate.
A Resource Based Economy is an egalitarian social system, that applies the scientific method to social concern, utilizing our current technological capabilities to provide access to sustainable abundance so as to increase the quality of life for every person on earth while simultaneously working to repair the damage to our planet. It is a system that is designed for a world that no longer requires human labor as we know it, the world we are rapidly approaching.

Robots replacing workers would give ex-workers a new experience; the time to think things out for themelves as to: Why do human beings exist?
What I would like to know is if they take away peoples jobs they also loose customers. Doesn’t matter how cheap something is to make if you kill the demand for the product.
