Americans Are Fleeing US Cities in Record Numbers

By Joshua Krause

One of the most significant demographic trends in American history, was the growth of our cities during the 20th century. The industrial revolution lowered the labor costs associated with agriculture, while creating more jobs in our urban areas, thus fueling a mass migration into our cities that continues to this day. However, that trend may be reversing for the first time.

According to a Bloomberg analysis of census data between 2013 and 2014, millions of Americans are fleeing our cities. But these cities aren’t shrinking, the locals are being replaced by foreigners. While their research noted 100 cities, it focused on 20 urban areas that experienced the greatest loss of local residents. New York City came in 2nd place after losing 163,000 US citizens. Americans are largely leaving due to soaring housing costs, and are being replaced by two different kinds of immigrants. Highly skilled immigrants working in the tech sector who can afford the rent, and low skilled workers who are willing to split the rent, and cram as many of their friends and relatives into tiny urban apartments.

Instead of the “White Flight” from our urban areas that was widely documented in the latter half of the 20th century, we’re now experiencing “American Flight.” As our nation takes in more and more foreign citizens, these people are mostly settling into our urban areas, which are now being referred to as “global cities.” It’s safe to say that by the end of the 21st century, what we now recognize as an American culture, will cease to exist in urban areas, and will almost exclusively exist in rural and suburban locations.

  1. Fleeing California makes it lighter – so less stress on St Andreas and the great state of Colorado welcomes you – just hurry before they force vaccinate you to idiocracy.

  2. Parents want safety and security for raising families. It doesn’t exist in the american cities. With rolling power outages, prescribed inoculations without consent, and anyone carrying a weapon, why should they stay?

  3. How ironic.
The antithesis of UN Agenda 21.

  4. The crappy ads you allow on your site makes me wonder if there is any thread of truth in your articles.

  5. SO,when the power grid goes down those in the cities will be the first to die.

  6. It’s going along just the way they want it! They oiled the tracks and used a little bit of elbow grease for their socialism experiment and it appears to be working!!!!!

Doesn’t mean it’s a good thing *which it isn’t* but working it is. If there were any opposition we would not even be having this discussion about fleeing cities but all forms of opposition have been shut down and all that’s left is the infamous keyboard warriors from hell.

  7. Hmmmm. Test.

  8. Well, I fled NYC/Long Island 14 years ago, due to the absurd property TAXES; low quality of life/congestion; overall high cost of living; high crime; the fact that the place was already filled with so many foreigners that I felt like a foreigner in my own country, in the very place in which I had grown up and lived for 39 years; and, mainly, because of the continuing encroachment of the nanny-state/lack of basic freedoms….and it just keeps getting worse.

Moved 1000 miles away to a very rural area (We have ONE traffic light in the whole county) and I live like a king on a third of what I used to make in the city, and can enjoy what remains of American freedom. I’ll never so much as set foot in the Northeast again. It makes me sick to think I wasted 39 years of my life in that hell-hole!

And since residents of myu state can freely buiy, sell and trade guns……crime in this area is not even a concern.

Unfortunately, the whole country is going the way of these cities…soon it will be time to leave for foreign shores.

If you value your precious time on this earth, DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE like a frog in a pot of water whose temperature is slowly beiong turned up to boiling, but so slowly that you get used to it and tolerate it, until you are cooked!

    • Yeah your guns end up here in the city. Toddlers shot in my neighborhood. Thanks a bunch! Feel free? I don’t.

      • Well, uh, yeah- because you live in a place where only criminals and cops [is there a difference?] have guns- and the average citizen is totally defenseless. What would you expect? Here, where EVERY household has guns, there are no toddlers or anyone else being shot or robbed. Add to that, the criminal culture that exists in every major city today…and what would you expect? Gun control only works on those who don’t need it- the law-abiding citizen. The only thing it does for criminals, is further render their victims sitting ducks.

        • You live in a third world mindset. Piss off and keep your guns out of our cities then, cretin.

Better yet, I’ll keep myself out of your crime-ridden, filthy, tyrannical cities, in which the innocent live behind bars and in fear, while half the population of the Third-World destroys the quality of life and Western culture in a lawless survival-of-the-fittest jungle, which you jokingly refer to as a city.

I happen to enjoy the fact that my 90 year-old mother can live alone and walk the streets without fear, here; and that I can leave my doors unlocked as i did today while being 120 miles away from home.

But you freedom-hating, criminal-loving liberals will continue to defend your failed policies and concepts, even after the cities become open war-zones and go down in flames, because you are too stupid to admit defeat.

  9. *****No Border _________No Nation __________No Country____No Wall****!

    President: Donald Trump

    VP : Ted Cruz

    WE WANT THE WALL NOW!

  10. This too- was a long time suggestion. I know many cannot afford to move. And be HONEST with yourself- it does not matter what we think- it matters what’s going on in your life especially if you have kids. So, you’re stuck in a big city…on the East Coast. You have no money and now you’re concerned. But, you’ve been warned for a while now and you haven’t taken steps to survive the up-coming collapse. Yet, you have a smart phone right? You go to the club more religiously than a church. You have nice things- alot of nice things. Now, your family may be in danger and you don’t know what to do. And it’s going to get worse- ALOT worse. Good job.

    • Many of the people who most need to move, live in some of the most expensive places in the country/world. The reality is: They can’t afford NOT to move…..but they’ve become accustomed to their pot of boiling water, like a frog- so they stay, and let their wealth be consumed on a lifestyle in which they can’t even have the basic amenities of life; and they devote all of their time and energy to sustain that pathetic life and pay the taxes. Used to see this in NYC/Long Island all the time. People making $100K a year, but who were living like paupers. Afraid to move “Because i can’t make this kind of money anywhere else”- niot realizing, that in many rural places, you can live like a king on <$20K (as I do)-what good is a "nice salary" if all it does is look good on paper, but buys you nothing?

And for the poor: You can never get ahead in these cities and suburbs. I left NY when I was 39- and had nothing, except a wad of $25K savings to show for my whole life there- never owened a house, nothing. Moved to a cheap rural area 1000 miles away….and now I have more wealth than I ever did before in my life…and can have a wuality of life that just isn't even possible in NY for any price (Much less on the $50K a year I made near the end of my days there)

Meanwhile, my entire income here would barely pay the property taxes back there if someone were to give me a house for free! These cities are places of poverty and tyranny- but let people think they're "earning a good living" and they don't seem to notice that they are living in a cesspool, and don't have enough ground to keep a chicken (nor the freedom to do so, if they have the ground)
