CNN Promotes Microchip Brain Implants For Memory Loss

For years, the alternative media has been exploring the possibility of advanced surgical technology, like implantable microchips and their possible advantages and disadvantages. These legitimate possibilities have been overlooked and ignored by many, but now this type of technology is actually being promoted by the mainstream media.

CNN reported that a team of US researchers are suggesting that implantable brain chips could help people restore their memory. The team expects to implant a “small number” of human volunteers with brain chips in the very near future. If the trials go well, the team hopes to start implanting microchips into the brains of their patients within a ten-year time period.

This research is nothing new, though, it has been going on for nearly two decades. In fact, there are currently over 80,000 people who currently have microchips in their brain to treat epilepsy or Parkinson’s disease.

“It’s now commonly accepted that humans will have electrodes put in them — it’s done for epilepsy, deep brain stimulation, (that has made it) easier for investigative research, it’s much more acceptable now than five to 10 years ago,” Rob Hampson, associate professor of physiology and pharmacology at Wake Forest University says.

Mark Goodman, former FBI and secret service employee has warned that the rise of this type of technology could lead to brain hackers. According to Goodman, brain implants may not even be necessary for someone to erase your memory or read your mind, but a microchip would certainly make it a lot easier.

“I think holding people’s memories hostage in demand of an extortion payment would be a fairly horrific crime. Of course, this is all theoretical now. We do not have the capacity to do this. But I thoroughly believe it will be forthcoming. I think we’ll see more of that, which could lead to all kinds of problems. Forget memorizing passwords—somebody could just pull that data from a brain scan,” said Goodman.

“Once organized crime figures out how to do this, I could see a horrific scenario wherein somebody is kidnapped and threatened that unless they pay an exorbitant sum, their lifelong memories of their wife or daughter would be erased,” he added.

There are also many other adverse side effects possible with these implantable chips, including various types of cancer.
