Dick Cheney on Torture: the Report Is “Full of Crap” and “I’d Do It Again in a Minute”

Dick Cheney, the man who says his job it was to get the torture program put in place during the Bush, Jr. years, has gone on record to say he thinks the newly released Senate torture report (which he hasn’t even read) is “full of crap”:

In some ways, Mr. Cheney (or, maybe I’ll call him DICK), might be literally right considering that the report details one of the “enhanced interrogation techniques” was something called “rectal rehydration,” which, like every other disgusting and dehumanizing method used in that report, was ultimately deemed ineffective and totally unjustifiable.

What’s rectal rehydration? Well, in case you haven’t heard, the Washington Post summed it up pretty well:

There are also references to other procedures, including the use of tubes to administer “rectal rehydration” and feeding. CIA documents describe a case in which a prisoner’s lunch tray “consisting of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts, and raisins was ‘pureed’ and rectally infused.” At least five CIA detainees were subjected to “rectal rehydration” or rectal feeding without documented medical necessity.

They were literally pureeing people’s lunches and shoving them up their butts.

I cannot believe I live in a world where in my lifetime is has been necessary to write that sentence because it is a thing our government did to people.

There’s got to be something (or maybe lots of somethings) much worse that were done to people (and likely continue to be) that were redacted out of that report though, considering that this is one of the techniques they are actually admitting to in print and allowing the bought-and-paid-for establishment media to focus on.

Dick Cheney also openly admitted he did not read any of the 6,000-page classified report which only even exists because he exists, nor did he even bother to take more than a glance at the 500-page heavily edited and redacted summary released for public consumption, but on a Fox News special report “CIA Torture Report: The Ends Did Justify The Means,” (full video above) Cheney told Bret Baier he’d do it again in a minute:

(right around the 8:30 mark)

“I think that what needed to be done was done, I think that we were perfectly justified in doing it, and I’d do it again in a minute,” Cheney said.

In the report, Cheney also says “it was the right thing to do,” “they did a hell of a job,” the ends “absolutely” justified the means, and — point blank — he has no sympathy for anyone who was held without due process and tortured by the CIA.

He thinks it is great and it worked — even though the report affirms that, again, these techniques were ineffective and never furnished any smoking gun information or anything truly useful like actionable intelligence that really kept America safe.

That’s likely because you could employ these torture techniques on just about anyone and get them to admit to just about anything if you do it long enough… Why? Because it’s torture.

Baier points out that one of the detainees actually died and Cheney’s go-to response was basically “because 9/11” and that because Americans died on that day, it essentially gave him and his ilk the license to commit whatever war crimes they wanted to against whoever they wanted for whatever reason they deemed necessary — Geneva Convention, morality and basic sense of humanity be damned.

Keep in mind this is the same guy who has said that A) the NSA spying on every American is great and we, as American citizens, have no right to know if the government is spying on us and B) that the president should have unlimited powers…in what is supposed to be a limited powers, checks and balances democratic Republic. (Constitution? What Constitution?)

Of course, you’d have to believe the absolute fairy tale the Bush administration tried to sell us after 9/11 which only helped further institute the militarized, federalized police state growing up all around us and the loss of liberties for what amounts to little more than security theater we’ve seen since that day.

Who was it that said and eye for an eye makes the whole world blind?

Apparently it makes them evil, too.
