Western Pennsylvania Bridges Are Crumbling

This excellent piece of local news from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shows how the vital infrastructure of the “City of Bridges” is badly in need of repairs to combat rampant rusting and other support problems. However, the city has had to resort to implementing weight restrictions on dozens of local bridges, because they simply do not have the money to fix them.

Unfortunately, the high concentration of steel bridges in the Pittsburgh area only showcases the city as a prime example of a serious problem that is affecting the entire United States. Our national infrastructure is literally falling to pieces. Trillions of dollars are utilized to fund aggressive and imperialist wars across the Middle East and Asia, because apparently that is a far more important priority for the federal government than keeping our nation’s infrastructure up to a safe and well-maintained 1st world standard.

Can you imagine how much the transportation authorities of “3rd world” countries like China and Turkey, who have both introduced modern and extensive high-speed rail networks in the early 21st century, must be laughing their faces off at a story like this? Who else in the developed world has to jab PIECES OF WOOD (2:00) into the vital components of multi-million dollar bridges as part of a repair job and safety precaution?
